Leland Wykoff Posted September 21, 2020 Posted September 21, 2020 Disney Cruise Line announces three neew ships, to be built in Germany, with a passenger capacity similar to current ships: https://dse.news/releases/2019/10/30/disney-cruise-line-announces-three-new-ships/ 1 Quote
Gabe Posted September 22, 2020 Posted September 22, 2020 Not really a new announcement, since these ships were originally set for deployment next year, 2023 and 2025. All cruise lines waiting on further guidance as to when the no sail order will be lifted. Royal and NCL, on behalf of all the major lines, submitted their 64 page reopening guidelines late last week. Thousands if not millions people of people live off these ships. Not only would everyone employed by the cruise lines would lose their jobs so would small towns that rely on the tourism dollars. SOBwasaSOB Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 People could, for example, fly to these places instead. Cruise ships are some of the absolute worst things for the environment. That is not to mention their massive tax avoidance by exploiting other countries as tax havens. I am also a bit more of an adventurous traveler, so the cookie cutter experience of cruises don't appeal to me. I won't go on a political rant since this isn't the place for it, but as someone who has scuba dived all around the world, seeing the damage done to the coral and sea life is devastating. I am now off my soap box, sorry. : ) Quote
