When to go?

Featured Replies

I am planning a trip to KI for this summer and was wondering when the best time to go would be. It will have to be between mid June to early August and I would like to go when it will not be too busy. We have gold passes and plan to stay for a week. I was also was wondering when the gold card special days for the summer will be out. I see the days for April and May are out but I am wondering about June July and August. I do not want to be there on a bring a friend free day but would like to be there on a day when you get into Action Zone early. I am also wondering if anyone has the height requirements for the new water park rides. Thanks for your help :D

Usually the best time to go is during the week. June is a good time to go as it is less crowded. I have heard that Tuesday through Thursday are the best days. One Thursday I went with a friend and there was 15 minutes or less wait on all of the major coasters.

It doesn't matter what day as long as it isn't Saturday. Sunday mornings aren't typically that bad, either. The one thing you can count on, though, is going when it is supposed to rain. Sure, the rides may go down periodically, but the time that you'll save waiting in line will more than make up for it. It is only the rare storm of the year (last year's fourth of July) that will truly affect your day. If you don't mind getting a little wet, trust me.

The best days are when it's cloudy and it looks like it's going to rain. Not many people go, Sometimes I go when it's supposed to rain because rain doesn't bother me it's worth the walk ons! I walked on SOB one rainy tuesday..but the rain hurt.

Thanks for the input. I did plan on going Sun. PM through Thurs. or maybe Fri. but we did want to hit the zoo too so we will kinda play that by ear. Last year we were there I think the first week in Aug. while my DH was on business. The kids and I went during the day and met him for supper every night. He came back to the park with us a couple times and we stayed at the hotel a couple times to swim and watch TV. ( we don't have cable at home so it was a treat for the kids) It didn't seem too busy then but I just wasn't sure when I wanted to go this summer and I don't want to plan to go during a busy time. This is something we will have to plan ahead for because we live in MI so we can't just wait for the weather forecasts to decide. Thanks for the help, see you at the park!

Uh oh, I remember when I was a kid all I wanted to do was swim in the pool because we didn't have one at home. Also the call of HBO is a vacation in itself.
