We took a "family trip" to Kings Island on Thursday and Friday. We did the night before thing. The cast was: me, my 3 year old, mom, dad, sister, niece, nephew, niece's friend and sister's nephew.

We arrived at the park on Thursday just as the parade started. My 3 year old loved it. Especially SpongeBob. As the parade started, so did the rain. The rain didn't stop much at all for the remainder of the evening. But that didn't stop us, except for when they shut the rides down due to lightning.

My sister convinced me and my 61 year old father to ride Tomb Raider with her. I nearly had a panic attack when we were just sitting there, buckled in, waiting for the ride to start. Then I screamed the entire way through it and when the ride stopped I proclaimed "That was FREAKING awesome." Of course, that was the ride that gave me the name I signed up here with "screams like a girl". Apparently I did that for 2 days on every ride.

We rode The Son of Beast, Vortex, Italian Job, Racers, Tomb Raider, Avatar Air Bender, Plankton's Plunge and so many more rides I can't even seem to remember the names. That was all on Thursday night. Friday brought my taking my 8 year old nephew on The Beast for the first time ever and my taking my 12 year old niece on Flight of Fear for the first time ever. An awesome moment for me (on both rides). Then I proceeded to ride Tomb Raider again, solo. And yep, I still screamed like a girl.

I have to admit, I got a little teary eyed as I walked off The Beast. I commented to my nephew that my granny or "gran gran" as the kids called her, loved The Beast. The last time she went with us she was around 70-75 and wouldn't leave until she rode it. She passed away 2 years ago so it got to me when I realized I rode with her the last time she ever rode it in her life and was riding it for the first time ever with my nephew. I'm a sentimental sap when it comes to things like that!

I'm 30 years old and have gone to Kings Island almost every year for as long as I can remember. This is the first time I've ever gone where we were able to walk through and get right on ride after ride. I think our longest wait was maybe 30 minutes for FOF yesterday.

Over the 2 day course we joked with our parents to whip out the cameras because we needed our picture taken out by The Beast "shrubs" just outside the gate and told them we were going to look for Fred Flintstone in Hanna Barberra land!

My sister and I commented today on how many memories one little trip could evoke but then agreed that it was probably our best trip to KI ever.

Great and wonderful report.

Thanks for posting that.

Kings Island is at its very best when it makes memories.

I, too, tear up greatly when I think of several of my many, many Kings Island visits. Good times at the park with family and friends.

THAT is what the theme park business should primarily be about.
