italianchef
Cedar Fair now owns the 5 former Paramount parks. First the parks appeared on the Cedar Fair homepage without the "Paramount" name, now the "Paramount" name has been added. At some point in the future, the name "Paramount" will be legally removed from all 5 parks. This means that the physical signs at the parks, the web sites, and other realms will all drop "Paramount". When do you think this will happen and why? Please vote and state your reasons if you have time. Have a great day! Italian Chef
The Interpreter
They got the ten year Paramount licensing rights with the deal, subject to "certain early termination rights." My guess is that means a refund if they don't use them. Season passes will PROBABLY have the park name on them. So, my guess is they will conserve cash, not advertise for another while having to pay for it too, and change the name on passes only when they sell them (but what if they go to the voucher system that Cedar Fair uses?). So, when? I'm not sure. Either a soft change starting whenever they process season passes or next year when the parks open...
Outdoor Man
good q. if I were to guess I would bet on "after the season"- but long-term use of the Paramount name and licensing on the inside for the next few years until the agreement nears the end. From a tax standpoint cant's trademark items that hold intellectual value be depreciated? I would assume that if that is the case that they will use that time to deplete the value in the trademarked themes and spread the cost of "re-theming" over time. They were able to do that with Gauega Lake in one off-season, but each of these parks is larger... and there are 5 of them. major cost will be signeage of the paramount name. and how will that work with PKI's large sign. There is a lot of "paramount" in that- ie, the design.
PKIVortex
Yeah I wonder what they will do with that sign? I'm sure they will drop the Paramount name at some point. I'd have to say that sign will be stripped of all it's glory. That's too bad too, that I like that sign. It's very unique. I voted a name change would happen at the beginning of next season, April of 07.
Snake Attack!
I thought you were talking about rides names so I voted other and I think that the name changes will occur gradually thoughout the years. I think that the paramount name will disappear after this year.

I believe very strongly that the Paramount Logo will be taken from the parks at the beginning of the 2007 season. Season Passes will most likely be amongst the 1st to change appearances, and the sign by the highway. (since it bears the design of the paramount studios gate) I honestly don't expect for them to make a lot of changes to the rides names right away. They will probably do this a few at a time, as they decide how they want to theme the areas ( if they choose to theme them at all. ) Obviously, the 1st non-movie title ride since Son of Beast will be whatever new attraction is built or whatever attractions are built for the 2007 operating season. I expect to see better landscaping, including more flowers in the park. And I expect to see it in what is now "The Paramount Story" And I can imagine walking through the park on opening day next year and having flags flapping in the wind where paramount logos once stood, and In my opinion, one of the biggest shockers will probably be an entirely new font of Kings Island printed before the Royal Fountain as soon as you enter the park. That photo spot will be forever changed. What do you think? Agree or Disagree.........
