July 19, 200620 yr Tri-County Press Found this in my newspaper today: SHARONVILLE -- The Sheraton Hotel on Chester Road plans to open a $20 million indoor water park next year. Plans for the 52,000-square-foot facility, to be built next to the hotel at 11320 Chester Road, were granted preliminary approval last week by the Sharonville Planning Commission. John Thode, executive vice president of Horizon Development Group Inc., expects construction to start in September and the water park to open in November 2007. The water park will include a wave pool, lazy river, activity pool with basketball hoops, and a water slide. "There are activities for teenagers and toddlers. We'll have children's pools without a ledge and appropriately sized slides," Thode said. A bar, restaurant, and an outdoor patio will also be part of the complex. Thode told Planning Commission members during last week's meeting that the water park will be open to the general public on most days. A hotel official, however, said that's not true. Brad Robinette, senior vice president of Sage Hospitality Resources, said day passes will not be offered to the general public on a regular basis. "There will be times when the hotel is slow and they'll offer day passes, but the water resort is really geared towards guests," Robinette said. Note: This hotel reopened last year after being closed in October 2002.
