standbyme
Well, being that I live in Illinois I do not make it to the park as often as most of you…but I just returned from my third trip this year. (At least when I do go it is not just for 1 day…it’s usually about 2 ½ days each time…just like this time.) I won’t go into a “blow-by-blow†description of the trip…just some of the highlights & a couple of observations. The weather was nice…although it would have been better if it were a little hotter for the waterpark…and the crowds were not bad at all. Anyway…things I noticed…the lights in the waiting area for SDATHC were on both Monday & Tuesday when we rode it…so I guess that’s the “norm†now. The lights were also on in FOF’s que which I personally didn’t mind…I like seeing the saucer better. “Highlights†on this trip for me were: #1: I liked seeing the characters out and about in Nickelodeon Universe. (Not just stuck in their usual area.) The kids seemed to really be thrilled seeing the characters walking around. If you look at my avatar photo you will see a photo I took on the trip…Patrick with Patrick! #2. I actually heard the operators at Viking Fury really trying to keep the crowds excited…they would challenge everyone to outscream each other…but then I was REALLY surprised when THEY tried to get the old “Less Filling-Tastes Great†chant going! #3. I finally feel like an old fisherman with a “wild tale†to tell …even though I have never fished in my life. I was having lunch at Bubba Gumps sitting by the rail watching the fish (and feeding them). I had a swarm of fish right below me…as I was looking down a HUGE black (koi?) started creeping out from under the deck. It just slowly creeped out…and it seemed endless. When I finally got to see the end of him it was amazing. He was EASILY 8-10 times bigger than the other fish. His scales looked like a houses’ shingles…they were very visible. I grabbed my camera but never got a good shot of him. The sun was shining off of the water and he never came close to the surface…so all I got was a vague shadow…I know in the future I will always look for “him†to get a better picture. (Has anyone else seen this fish?) #4. We rode White Water Canyon 4 times and every time the operators seemed to go above and beyond to be friendly as they sent you on your way and greeted you back. #5. We rode The Racer…and it raced all 4 times we rode it…so that is always cool. #6. Finally picked up the Kings Island Monopoly discounted to $19.99...my sister talked to what appeared to be a “higher up†in the store. (A man in a white shirt & tie.) She asked him if there was a chance that it would go lower by the end of the year…he said $19.99 was the bottom price. Nothing else comes to mind…but it was a pretty good trip. ZosoBeast
I really like Trip Reports like this one. Highlights are always seem to be more fun to read than the usual TR. How did you get that picture of Patrick with Patrick?
Avatar
I agree, we really enjoy seeing the characters walking out and about too. I had a brief conversation with one of the minders escorting Patrick last Sunday, and from her answers they (characters) really like getting out to see the younger guests. They also like not hafting to compete for the attention of the younger guests from the other characters at the Nick Theater Meet & Greet. I’m happy to hear that you are able to make it over to Kings Island as often as you have, considering the distance that it takes for you to get there. standbyme
The Patrick with Patrick was not that hard...he was just wandering around Nick Universe...eventually he ended up by his statue and starting "mugging" with it like it was an old friend...after he was done taking pictures with some kids I asked his escort if I could get a picture of him with the statue. coasterville
Hmm, I wounder if the Paramount's Kings Island-Opoly game will become a collectors item. Consider that the park rolled it out for WInterFest and has had it available for sale for less than a year. I don't know how brisk sales of it are, but I don't see the park reordering any more once the current stock runs out. Interesting keepsake of the end of this era in the park's history. $19.95 huh, I seem to recall shelling out closer to $30 for it earlier this season. Just have to get it off the living room coffee table sometime soon...
PKIVortex
Yeah I paid full price for it at Winterfest last year. If I knew they would bring the cost down I would have waited. Oh well.
