PKIVortex
Tuesday February 13th 2007 Today it was sunny for most the day with temps in the high 70's. However it did thunderstorm for a few hours in the afternoon. Day 2 of my trip led to me to Sea World of Orlando. I was really looking forward to this park for the opportunity to ride Kraken. Kraken is the the tallest coaster in Orlando. We arrived and proceed directly to the turn style as we had pre-purchased tickets. Once in the park it was time to decided what I wanted to do first. Well being that I wanted to ride Kraken we head over there, not until though we stopped and looked at the turtles, not just any turtles, huge ones. Now it finally time to ride Kraken. Kraken is a floorless roller coaster by B&M it contains 7 inversions and speeds of over 60 MPH. Wow I loved every minute of it. I ended up running right back around and getting a re-ride. I ended up riding Kraken another 3 times for a total of 5 times throughout the day. Next it was to experience Journey to Atlantis. Journey to Atlantis was probably my biggest surprise at Sea World. I knew it was a water ride, but forgot it was a water coaster. So after the drop into the water I thought the ride was over, so the ending was a big big surprise. I ended up riding this one twice. The second time I rode in the front of the boat and I got soaked, whoops. Now it was time to go see the Penguin's at Penguin Encounter. This was a pretty cool attraction, seeing it snow inside. The Penguin's had no idea they were in Florida, they were all having a ball. Ut oh Shark time. It was now time to go see the Sharks. They were lots of Sharks in this attraction. Those things are scary looking, good thing we were safe on the other side of the glass. It was time to head over to Shamu Stadium to see Shaum's brand new show "Believe". I really really enjoyed this show. Those Killer Whales are so smart, and very beautiful to look at. We sat in the very top row of the wet zone seats, and during the finally of the show we got a little wet, but it was all in good fun. If you ever make it to Sea World you have to check out this Show, it was unbelievable. Now on to my biggest disappointed about Sea World. We ate at Mango Joe's Cafe and had fajitas, not very good at all. I'm not saying all of Sea World's food is bad, but this place wasn't very good at all. I did however go into Happy Harbor to ride Shamu Express. Hey I had to get the count Pretty fast kiddie coaster as I was sitting in the back. At this time the storm started to brew. We went into Wild Artic, we chose to take part in the simulator ride to get us into the attraction. The simulator wasn't all that great, but it was still different. We made it into the attraction but only seen a few Polar Bears as they were sleeping. But I still enjoyed it. We got out of the attraction and it was pouring down rain. So I bought us some rain ponchos to try and stay dry. We ended up just sitting down under shelter until we braved the elements again. Finally about 1 1/2 hours later the storm passed and the sun came back out. This is when I hit up Kraken and Journey to Atlantis again. We walked to look at the Dolphin Nursery and Dolphin Cove. Dolphins are so neat, we even went to the underwater viewing area. I really enjoyed watching the Dolphins. It was time to see the Manatee's, they were located in the Manatee Rescue, Sea World actually rescues this things and helps them and then released them in the wild. I think this is so nice they they do it. And boy these things are huge. One of the final things we did before riding Kraken again 2 more times before they closed was to go look at and feed the Sea Lions. They were located in the Pacific Point Preserve. They were so funny, and very smart. I like how they knew they were food around, and they used there flippers as hands to to call out to you, that they wanted the fish. I spent quite a bit of time over here just watching the Sea Lions and Seals. Isn't nature so wonderful. Unfortuantely I didn't get to see the Sea Lion show. If it didn't rain earlier I probably would have done it. So I ended the day with 2 more rides on Kraken. I guess you couldn't tell I really liked this ride huh. Avatar
Nice report and I especially like the pictures you added. 70 degrees must have felt like 90 for us and just think we were all back here in a snow storm. Good planning.
PKIVortex
Yes I was very happy I missed the major snow storm while I was gone. Thanks for the comment Avatar. Also look for MGM trip report and Universal Studios Florida report coming later on this week as well. One a day is all my brain can handle, and I don't wanna overwhelm anyone. tubaman
I can hardly wait til we get to your Disney's MGM report...but I guess we will have to! (By far my favorite Florida Disney park...) I definetly agree with you on that discision. Although, really if given the oppurtunity, I would go to any Disney Park and not complain. Animal Kingdom is my second favorite disney park, and I was there the opening year (In the Florida sun with no vegetation grown up well yet, so no shade, and it was hot.) My uncle was a zoooligist(sp) down there, and helped with the animal part of the park. That is why we went down at that time. He now works for Barniman Bailey circus (Who's parent company owns Disney on Ice) flying around the world checking to make sure the conditions for the animals are up to standard. He also do to things that happend I guess, has an extreme dislike for Disney and says they mistreat animals. Who knows?
