PKIVortex
Wednesday, February 14th 2007 Today's Weather, windy they were a wind advisory out for Orlando today, but the temps was very nice being in the mid 70's. Okay so we decided earlier in the week that we wanted to do one of the parks at Disney, we decided that spending 4 days at Universal would be over-kill since we done so much at Universal so quickly. In our hotel they were a sign that read "ask about your Disney special, 2 for $34.50 each. Well we had to take part of a sales pitch about time shares, but hey we got free breakfast out of it. You can't beat 2 Disney tickets for $69.00. So we decided we would do MGM since MGM wasn't open the last time we went to Disney. As we entered into the park Thur the Hollywood Boulevard section, we saw this directly ahead of us. Our first attraction of the day was Voyage of The Little Mermaid. One thing I like about MGM and Universal was the little pre-show rooms before the ride, it actually takes a little time outta of your wait, however this was just a big standing room, no really anything was going on in here. We went into the theater to watch the show. This show used live action as well as animated action. Pretty well done. After this I was ready for some thrills. We headed down Sunset Boulevard towards Tower of Terror and Rock 'n' Roller coaster. However we stopped at Fairfax Fries which was serving McDonald's fries, the only time I had McDonald's on my entire vacation. Okay though now it was time to ride Tower of Terror. I have heard so much about this ride but I was finally being able to experience it for myself. I kinda tricked my Mom on this ride, which I felt kinda bad afterward because it was pretty intense. This ride was awesome though, I loved the multiple drops you get. But what really surprised me was it just wasn't a drop, it was a dark ride a well. I really enjoyed Tower of Terror. Next up was Rock 'n' Roller coaster. This was a very exciting ride, I had no idea what to except. This ride was themed heavy. The Que, the ride it self, right down to the trains. RNR was great, the only thing that would have probably made it better for if it launched outta of the station like FoF does, but RNR don't launch right outta of the station. I also felt it was a little jerky, kinda of like how FoF was before they removed the OTSR. But none the less, it was still a fun ride. The effects while you were riding the ride were a nice touch, and cool to look at zooming upside down and sideways. After RNR we decided we better walk over and wait for the Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt show to begin. This was a pretty neat show, this show came directly from Disney Paris. It was pretty cool watching all of the stunts. This show does get loud though. They showed us how they make stunt scenes and how they go about filming them, even some secrets about stunt scenes. Pretty good show. We decided we were close we would go ahead and do the Back Lot tour. This was a nice relaxing ride, and we got to see a lot of neat stuff. I especially liked the little cavern they took us Thur and what happened while we were in there, pretty neat stuff. I don't wanna say what it was all about, for anyone who may not have ever been to MGM before. After this we decided to have lunch. We ate at Flatbread Grill I had a hot dog and chips and a drink. Not a horrible price, but still a little steep for a Hot dog. We then we and saw Muppet Vision in 3-d. I loved this. This also used live actors and a movie film. Very done. I actually enjoyed this attraction even though it wasn't an actual ride, but pretty funny, and the 3-d effects were very well done. We then headed over to Echo Lake to experience 2 more attractions. Star Tours, and Sounds Dangerous. Star Tours was a motion simulator attracted based off of Star Wars. It was okay, if not a little outdated. If you like Star Wars you may liked this better then I did. We then went over to Sounds Dangerous. Wow what a waste of time. You watch a movie and wear headphones. More then 7 minutes of this film is in total darkness. Wasn't one of my favorite attractions. We then headed over to Hollywood Boulevard again to check out The Great Movie Ride. This was cool. It takes you Thur classic film scenes and Hollywood moments. Live action is also included in this attraction which just adds to the experience. I liked the Wizard of Oz scene, great attraction, I enjoyed this one. After this it was getting close to closing time. I decided that I wanted to ride RNR Coaster again. After that I still had time to ride Tower of Terror again, so I ended my day with these 2 attractions, then I shopped a little before having to get on Disney Transportation to take us over to the Magic Kingdom to take catch our bus back to the Hotel. Thanks for reading, I'm going to include my last 2 days in one more report. The last 2 days include USF and IOA again, but mostly USF since I haven't covered much of USF yet. Avatar
I was disappointed with Star Tours too. But like others have said, I think I liked MGM Studious the best too, but really I like all of the Disney Parks. Was Areosmith still rehearsing in the studio at the ride. Now I really liked it when they pulled us up to a staging area to see another short show before they blasted us off on the Rock n Roller Coaster. When we were at the Tower of Terror their was a family that wondered around that freaked me out. Talking about if some place is haunted, I would say that Hotel definitely gives that feeling with all it's theme. But truly my most favorite attraction at MGM is all the impromptu street shows they have going on all over the place. Did you see any of those? Here is a short video that I got to participate in. <param'>http://avatar.phanfare.com/video/2;8617559;"> I must share a funny story about that show. Just last week I was talking to Miss Rae about going back to Disney later in the year with my mother. So I asked her what she would like to do when we go back and she quickly named off several things then said but I don’t want you to see that Love me, Love me lady!!! I asked her why not? And she said because that lady said Love me, then she fell down, then you told her that you loved her and that made me sad, because I thought you were going to leave us. Oh…..the minds of six year olds and the funny ways they interpret events. Another great trip report thanks, looks like you guys got to do and see a lot while you where down there. The Interpreter
You'd think that some day Aerosmith would get that show right! Then again, I bet the speakers on Rock N Roller Coaster actually worked...after all this time, even.
PKIVortex
You know now that I think about it, I don't remember hearing anything in the actual ride portion of RNRC, but I'm not really sure. At least not coming from the trains.
