I miss the old log flume rides

Featured Replies

Oh, I thought you were saying it was originally called AdventureExpressor

I'm sorry to say this for all you KCKC fans, but KCKC sucked. Yeah it gave a nice view of the park thru the trees, but the water was always nasty and had foam in it yuck, and you didn't even get that wet on it.

Did you know the slang name for KCKC was flop? I wonder why LOL. :)

I thought that was because that was the noise it made when it got to the bottom of the big drop.

Flop.

best current water ride hands down the Log flume at Knotts just rode it about a 2 months ago themed, its in a mountain great Ride, great drop too!

Well, if we are going there, I must say I much prefer Dudley Doright's ride at Islands of Adventure!

And, if we are going both of those routes, than we all know that I have to say. "Splash Mountain" at WDW's Magic Kingdom.

"Its time to be moving along, yeah you've gotta be movin' along!"

I can't help but go back and read this thread and ponder, over and over again, Kinzel's Cedar Point's Shoot the Rapids. I also keep remembering a youtube video interview with Jack Falfas about the ride.

I just don't get it. I don't know why they did it. I wonder if they are happy with it. I wonder if they regret it.

And I keep remembering Mr. Kinzel assuring people they would not get soaked on the new ride. And here I thought he was an operations guy. I wonder, what did Cedar Point really want from that ride? Did they get it? Will there be changes?

I certainly was not tempted to ride it this year, as much as I used to love water rides, there is nothing desirable about riding through a water fall.

I'm out of the loop, and haven't looked at how the ride operates or is supposed to operate. All I know is after reading the first post from raptor, it got me to thinking about the way the log rides used to be. Yes, a little natural wave on those rides is fine, but I've said this before-I hated that darn elephant on the log ride, and I haven't been back but once since the 80's. Like you said Terpy, if I want to get doused, I'll go to the water park. Seems to me they turned it into a money maker-"let's soak the guest, so they will have to pay 5 bucks for the family dryer." Things like this are not what make money, Cedar Fair. It's creating a family fun atmosphere, not a gotcha situation.

Excuse my bitterness, I long for the old park these days. Sigh.

I have a personal favorite log ride - Stanley Falls at Busch Gardens Tampa. It has a rough ride, it's got a decent length, and you don't get soaked when you ride it. I wonder if it's still there?

And, if you are in the front row, water comes up in great cascades and completely floods the front row of the train...

Does Shoot the Rapids have a track? In the POV, it seems to be hitting the side of the ride.

Actually Cedar Fair has done a good job I think, the Snoopy that replaced the Elephant I have found to be no big deal, so far Snoopy has only given my a little sprinkle, so I rode it much more this year
