Has anyone caught the Hot Island Rhythm show????

This Mother's Day they added a nice surprise - they included a Happy Mother's Day to all Mothers as their show started!! I thought that was really nice and was told that if anyone has a birthday, anniversary or any other special day mention it to a cast member and they will announce it!! Awesome!

I go to Kings Island on Sundays and have not missed too many of those shows. Gotten to know the cast a bit. Yea those that know me know that I tend to do that. Josh Hobbs is an aspiring dance/music man and Tim Williams is an aspiring political mind. Both are awesome men and do a fantastic job in that show. The women have changed each week it seems so I have not really gotten to know any of them. Tim has a part time replacement - Brandon. Brandon just started on the show this week and seems needs a bit more rehearsal time. He has a nice voice but tends to try to over shadow the other performers and this is a GROUP show. Brandon has promise but really needs to pay attention to the other performers as he is often out of step. Josh and Tim seem to be in perfect sync. I have to give Brandon credit for some quick thinking. There is a song that he is to sing to a member of the crowd with "brown eyes". Well this past week the woman refused to get up so he simply said "then I will stay right here and sing to you!" which he did. It turned out well.

Josh had to improvise once too. On his song "Island Girl" the guy picked from the crowd was taking a bit longer so Josh ran to the crowd and sang to them while the others got the message out to the female singer/male participant to get a move on - it was seamless and looked like it was part of the real show. Now that to me was awesome team work!!!

OHHHH that song alone is worth seeing that show!!! They pick out a male member of the crowd.....Josh starts singing and they bring him out in a hula skirt. Most men are playful and go with the flow. It is extremely funny!!!

This show is a great crowd interaction show. The singers pass out hawiian lei's during two seperate parts, Josh and Tim each sing to a lucky member of the audience - yes I was sung to!! During Josh's song "buttercup" he kept pointing to me. I was getting a bit curious as to why then suddenly he comes off of the stage singing the song directly to me. It was a great moment!! He teased me after the show about it. Normally this is reserved for the young ladies (5 - 12 year range lol) in the audience and trust me it is totally adorable to watch.

That is awesome. Being a part of the entertainment dept and live shows in the 90's I know this all to be true. Each show has a tight schedual to follow and they have to work the crowd. It is their job. Working in a show at KI is a chore in it's own right. When I was small I used to watch these types of shows and was amazed and always said I can do that. Later in life when I actually did that it was a hard job. My friends said I had it made. 4 or 5 shows a day then I was done. This was when Paramount had a show in every corner and each show had a minimum of 4 shows a day then 5 shows a day on weekend. It was hard work that is for sure. No matter if a show is awesome or just plain ole such ass, they earn their money!

I saw you there Karen with your daughter. It was a great show.

Hey if you see us there again - come on over and tell me hello and who you are!! I always look forward to meeting the great people who post on here. Actually have made new friends from here. Yes that IS my youngest daughter. Often I go there with my older daughter and her family as well.

I am not hard to spot!! My wheelchair is kind of hard to miss lol. I can walk but not very far. Hope next time you come and say hello!!

As for the performers - yes they work very hard. Before and after the show they are out working the crowds and looking for people that will help them with interaction. Josh has to look for help with the "Conga Line" and his target for Buttercup solo, and one of the girls looks for her male victim for Island Girl! After each show they walk around mingling and getting pictures taken. There is no doubt in my mind they earn their pay - most shows are high energy dancing in all kinds of weather. During the summer you have to understand they are dancing around when most people can barely move because of the heat!! Yes they do several shows but remember there is set up and take down with each performance then the final close out of all props at the end of the day.
