Opened: 1972
Closed: 1990s
Location: Hanna-Barbera Land (today known as Planet Snoopy), approximately where Character Carousel now is (1972-1981); approximately where PEANUTS Off-Road Rally now is (1982-1990s)
Former Names: Motor Mouse (1972-1981). At times misidentified as Boo-Boo’s Buggies. Internally referred to as “Front Hampton”
Manufacturer: Hampton
Model: Round-About
Description: Boo Boo’s Buggys was a miniature carousel ride with car- and motorcycle-shaped vehicles rotating in a counter-clockwise direction. The attraction’s vehicles were likely interchangeable with today’s PEANUTS Off-Road Rally.
History: Boo Boo’s Buggys opened at Kings Island in 1972 as Motor Mouse. It and the nearby Autocat ride (today known as PEANUTS Off-Road Rally) were similar attractions and both were named after the Motormouse and Autocat segment of the Cattanooga Cats show from Hanna-Barbera. Autocat originally opened at Cincinnati’s Coney Island and it’s likely that Motor Mouse did too.
The ride was relocated from the front of the children’s area to the rear in 1982, when it was also renamed Boo Boo’s Buggys. Boo-Boo Bear was a character on The Yogi Bear Show.
The ride closed during the 1990s. Its structure was last depicted on a park map in 1997, but not all the rides in Hanna-Barbera Land were identified by names on park maps.
