While IJST may be geared towards tweeners, its hieght limit of 48" to ride puts it in the same height as some of PKI`s other big roller coasters, The Beast, Son of Beast, and Vortex among others.

Well, some of the discounts they were offering (the $12.50 admission I thought was reasonable. However, The Beach and the Cincinnati Zoo`s Festival of Lights admission prices were still cheaper even at the reduced rate. For example, Holiday Fest at The Beach, a family of four could get in for thirty bucks, not to mention Beach passholders got free entry. So it is understandable that the park could have lost some attendance to those "cheaper" events. But at those events, I doubt they had the quality of live entertainment that PKI had. My only real gripe with the event is that there were a couple areas where some more lights/decorations could have been used. Additionally, another signature attraction would have been nice, as the nights I went I completed everything before 8, leaving extra time. But all in all, I think that the event was well worth about $10-$15. $24.99 they were charging at the gate was a little steep.

Be patient, I sense that we will be finding out some information in the coming couple of weeks.
-
Correct, there is the whole thing of live entertainment, which WinterFest excelled at marvelously. Granted, they could have sued some more lights in a couple of areas, but overall it was a fun time, and I thouroughly enjoyed my four visits there. I`m glad to see that they will be conducting it again next year. Hopefully they will make some improvements to it and hopefully it will become a holiday tradition for years to come!

What exactly is going to happen in HB?
CoastersRZ replied to BarkerCounty182's topic in Coming Attractions
Yes, the Sky Tours ride deisgned by Caripro will be staying, as far as I know. And secondly, I think that ride is a neat little ride that can be enjoyed by parents and their children, which fits in with the direction the park wants with NU. (Although I`ve heard those cars are saunas on typical Cincinnati Summer afternoons! I wouldn`t know as I`ve never been on that ride. Also, I don`t believe that you have to pedal (they are elctrically powered). Pedaling simply makes the cars go faster. -
I wasn`t implying that they should theme a big ride. I was answering Elmer Fudd`s question of what exactly B&M manufactures. Yes, it would be nice if a big ride had some theming, a la Flight of Fear. But there is nothing wrong with simply installing a fun ride, and not bothering with any theming, like on Delirium.

B&M manufactures roller coasters. They are responsible for Deuling Dragons and the Incredible Hulk at Islands of Adventures, among countless other coasters at parks across the country and the world. Spiderman, I believe was designed and created in house by the team that developed Islands of Adventure. Other Paramount Parks have B&M coasters (Paramount`s Carowinds and Paramount`s Great America). The last B&M install at a Paramount Park was Top Gun: The Jet Coaster at Paramount`s Carowinds in 1999. I would gladly have taken that ride over Face Off! (Although I wouldn`t want to give up Drop Zone for it). Hopefully, one day in the future PKI will build a B&M. Until then, we can dream about PKI getting one!

Disney Christmas Parade
CoastersRZ replied to WooferBearATL's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Well, I went down to Disney World back in 2004. I found that each of the parks had an adequate amount of thrill rides. From Space Mountain at the Magic Kingdom to Tower of Terror and Rock `N` Roller Coaster at MGM to Mission Space and Test Track at Epcot to Primeval Whirl and the soon to be Expedition Everest at Animal Kingdom. But the themed environment and heavily themed rides with all their audio animatronic figures are what seperates Disney from all other theme parks. I am eagerly looking forward to the day that I can return to the Disney parks, simply because I had so much fun at the parks. -
Yep. They removed the lights outling the buildings on International Street a couple of years ago. 2002 I think. They removed them because the wiring was 30 years old, and they could no longer locate replacement bulbs that would work with the wiring. All they did that first year was simply turn the lights off. The original lights were eventually removed over the following years.
-
Yeah, that is exactly what I thought when I first saw that card. They must have a Top Gun from one of the other Paramount Parks that actually has an onride photo.
-
I don`t have a problem with the handles on The Vortex bars. They are placed in a good spot that is easily accessible to me. Again, why fix something if it isn`t broken.
-
That`s right, you don`t even like walking through some of the same paths where there are scaractors during FearFest. Well, at least you are not judging the event since you have not attended it! Some people would judge it based on the pictures that are on this site, and would start critiquing it when they themselves have not personally experienced it.
-
Correct. To each their own. Some people don`t like FearFest, because it just isn`t their cup of tea. Just like you don`t like WinterFest because it isn`t your cup of tea.
-
Well, I am not one to wait in line two hours for IJST, and I have been to WinterFest four times. I found the event to be extremely fun. The live entertainment is what makes the event. From the parade, to Scrooge to the wonderful Santa`s Toy Factory to the live entertainment on the train. That being said, as you stated, if you go to PKI simply for rides, than WinterFest probably isn`t your cup of tea.

"Got caught smoking in line for The Beast. Lose a turn."
-
Well, I personally liked that they were dimming the lights and doing different lighting programs with the Eiffel Tower. Additionally, I thought the live entertainment was superb throughout the event. I would have liked to see some more decorations, especially on the trees in International Street. And whatever happened to Scooby Doo and the Christmas Caper? My other complaint, as has been said before, was the cost of the event. In the competitive holiday event market, they pretty much priced themselves out of the event. Hopefully, they will learn what worked and what didn`t work this year. Next year, they will be able to improve the event based on what they learned from this season. I will be first in line to visit the event next season!

Yes, the black bars would hide all the dirt better. Some of those orange bars are no longer orange, but a blackened shade of orange. Also, you have to like riding in a seat that has orange tape around the bar because the orange foam has been picked away by idiotic guests.
-
They replace the lap bars when they need to. I believe that one of the lap bars on The Beast had been replaced. The new lap bar is black, instead of PKI`s typical orange color for their PTC lap bars.

Your PKIC 2006 Wish List
CoastersRZ replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KICentral Footnotes & Small News
And yeah, why would PKIC have nintendo avators? Well, we have some interesting things planned in the coming months. -
No, I believe that they did illuminate the tower this year with the "blacklights" which were nothing more than a film placed over the traditional spotlights. However, they kept the spotlights atop the tower illuminates, as those lights provide general illumination to several of the surrounding midways.
-
I don`t know. I also wondered if they would keep up the lights (and keep them lit) outlining the buildings on International Street. They used to have all the buildings outlined, until they started running out of replacement bulbs because the lights were so old. Rather than have half the lights working, they opted to just turn them off.
-
The park almost has not choice but to clean and paint that tunnel before the start of every season. If they didn`t it would be no longer white, but black. When the ride first opened, that wasn`t tunneled in.

Yes, PC would have to pay taxes to both states. Not sure exactly how income tax would work for the workers. But it would probably go to the state in which the main offices are located in, which would be NC. At Coney Island, half of the rides are located in Anderson Township (Round-Up and Trabant and all the rides to the east), while the other half of the rides are located in the city of Cincinnati (Ferris Wheel, Tilt a Whirl and all rides to the west.) Since the administration building is in the city of Cincinnati, I had to pay the cities 2.1% earnings tax, regardless if I spent all my shifts in rides in Anderson Township. I would imagine Carowinds would be similar. As far as ride inspections go, each ride that is in the respective state is inspected by that state. I believe rides that are located in both states such as Thunder Road and the Goldrusher are inspected by both states?
-
No, I believe that he is referring to Thunder Road at Paramount`s Carowinds. I believe that the ride was originally painted white. But they stopped painting it, and now it looks like just another regular wooden coaster (all the white paint is gone/faded) and only bare/natural wood remains.

Hmmm. Very interesting. Does this only occur on this site? To me, with my limited knowledge of html editing, it almost seems like a browser issue.
