  1. ha... i just thought of this. the economic stimulus check everyone will be getting will pay for everyone's gas for about two months.
  2. Not exactly sure what you mean by white wash, but being stuck in a bathroom with 30 drenched males definately sounds like an unpleasant experience.
  3. ahh.... remember the spinning radar next to the queue line before going down the steps? and the yellow and black speakers along the queue which looped the "top gun" soundtrack? if i remember correctly, the "top gun" movie posters are still being shown along in the queue line, faded though... but for being 10+ years old, they've held up pretty nicely.
  4. I have the KI Central Forum RSS Feed saved in the browser, but it says "Live bookmark failed to load." It still says that when I go to reload it. Clicking on the icon at the bottom of the forums pages doesn't come up with anything either. Wanted to know if this is on my side, how it can be fixed or on KI Central's side, to let you know of the problem. Thanks Rob
  5. I remember hearing it will be operational in 2008, but I cannot recall where I've heard this, so don't hold me to that. On the site's construction news page, it says, "Construction is underway on the monorail landing, directly above the Starbucks...so Foodies keep your eyes peeled!" The page I found this on is located here: http://www.junglejims.com/index.cfm?fuseac...25660E4B8A283EF In case it doesn't work, on the left, click on Attractions, select Tram in the drop down, and then click on the "here." text below the picture.
  6. while i've been reading through what's going on in the forums, i've seen a couple small problems with some of the posts... it looks like some apostrophes are being replaced with "’". i don't know how fixable this is, but thought i'd bring it up. here's an example: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?...st&p=146958
  7. i went in for an interview for a stage technician position on sunday. the only paid position i've had that is somewhat related to the position is playback and recording of video sources on air for the PBS station at my college. all other work was volunteer work: that includes the production crew (lighting, sound, video) at the same college station for four years, and involvement in my high school's drama club, and two years at my middle school's drama club, together for six years. the people i interviewed with were really nice, and i heard some interesting things about the coming up season during the interview too.
  8. never ride face/off in hail. it sucks. it didn't look bad when me and my mom got on it, but once we got to the second lift it started hailing. on the loop, it really sucked, then before we got off, it stopped. of course it didn't help we were in the back/front seat (when entering the ride, the first set of seats to the right).
  9. the first link is probably less than half of nick's non-animated shows http://www.johnnorrisbrown.com/classic-nic...songs/index.htm some of nick's older game show themes can be heard at Nick GAS' site http://www.nick.com/all_nick/gas/watch/index.jhtml speaking of older game shows, the online nick site is showing some full episodes of game shows.. double dare 2000 is on now, guts was there last week. http://www.nick.com/all_nick/turbonick/ this one has non-Nick theme songs too, and more selections http://mythemes.tv/ you'd probably be able to find others by searching more. i was able to find a pretty bad quality theme song for roundhouse, but i don't remember where i got it from.
  10. there's a sign? guess i just walked by knowing it was closed
  11. that would be nice if they did start having shows there again. i'd go see it once... maybe more than once...
  12. eww... that is sad...
  13. i am subscribed to a newsletter email that produces cartoon shows, and one of the highlights of it was a link to a site within nick.com that allows you to stream certain entire episodes of tv shows, one of which was guts. once i heard the theme song of this, i started remembering tons of other theme songs of shows on nick around that time, and found a site which has some of those which i could think of. anyway, if i remember correctly, while the audience was waiting in nick theater for the show to start, they did quizzes for the kids to try to identify theme songs on the nick channel. i wanted to get slimed (ok... green water-ed) whenever i went there, and eventually got picked... and guessed right. i think it was 'rocko's modern life.' i don't remember what i got, if anything, but this got me thinking... is there a show going on in the theater in nick central? i would actually not be surprised if there is a show going on there and i'm not aware of it... i barely ever go to nick central anymore unless i'm walking to the waterpark. just writing this made me think of all the stuff around there when it first opened... the mcdonalds-like playground, the slime machine (two people stood under separate pipes, a lever was pulled, and one person got slimed), the scooby slides (i think it was scooby? maybe scrappy?), and the water tank thing behind the slides... ahh... fun times... thanks for an answer ahead of time! rob
  14. don't get me wrong. i don't mind the music. i was only exaggerating the comment.. probably more than i had intended to. sorry for that confusion
  15. i'm sorry, but i thought that it could just be seen by looking over the right roller coaster's hill. separate note: i haven't gone up into the Eiffel Tower since king cobra was taken down. thats why i hadn't seen it, but now that you've told me that, i'll go up sometime and look for them.
  16. look at king cobra. last i heard, the tracks and its cars were both sitting in a cleared open space somewhere on ki's lot. haven't been able to find them though.
  17. now if only they could extend the audio playing while loading the seats... i'm sure the people who work that ride hate that repetitive 3 second loop

    qtv

i'd have to guess that the whole system is set up on basically what is a cable system... ex: Vortex gets channel 5, beast gets channel 6, Son of Beast gets 7... something on those lines. i highly doubt that they'd broadcast a signal, just because theres a chance someone brings a VCR and antenna to the parking lot and tries recording program content (the video which is currently playing in The Beast lines). in addition, to broadcast a signal i think you'd have to register with the fcc to be able to broadcast so a networks' signals don't interfere with Kings Island's signals, and vice versa. most likely cheaper and easier to do/run things as a cable system. thanks for answering! (man! one of those secret jobs in the park to do tv stuff and with HDTV cameras!note to self: in case i don't get a job right out of college, qtv at Kings Island is a possibiltiy )

    qtv

some college friends came up with me to ohio for the weekend, in addition to see the webn fireworks today, and we went to Kings Island saturday... while waiting in line for drop zone, one of my friends asked me about qtv... i couldn't really ansewr the question thouhg, so i was hoping that someone here knows... how is qtv received (or displayed)? let me clarify this first... three of the four of us that went are radio/television majors, the other is architecture-she might help construct rollercoasters someday for us . what he was wondering is 1)if qtv is delieveered to the park by satellite and then retransmitted to the tvs, 2)if someone is employed by the park (or done automatically) to "switch" between videos, or 3)if it is a preprogrammed package by 'X' company and the park does nothing with it, except display it on the tvs and press the "replay" button on the dvd player. it seems like its a combination of all of the above to me right now. at the time, i answered the question as being entirely a satellite feed... but then i realized it had park specific features. so now i'm thinking it is almost like a local television station, with music/entertainment content coming from a satellite, then it has "commercial breaks" in which Kings Island throws in their own promotional commercials (the LaRosa's commercial, and animated Italian Job video). but then, after going to other rides, i see the same things after about an hour and a half; the i love the 90's songs blind melon "no rain" (hadn't heard or seen that msuic video in a long time) and the spice girls "wannabe" [GIVE ME A GUN AND SOME AMMO PLEASE!] and the new(?) kid rock song. hopefully its clear what i'm asking. i'm running on ~4 hours of sleep, and tend to not make much sense if i don't get my 12 hours in thanks for your reply ahead of time, and sorry for the longness [its a word now!] of this message Rob "QTV: We're always on, except when we're off." ...and ****, was it crowded yesterday. top gun had a line past where the side entrance used to be for the special effects (height restriction check, the bombs, the tower). still, we did almsot every ride we wanted within a 7 hour time period-minus Face/Off and TR:TR, both of which were closed at the time we were in that area.
  20. i know this post is late, but i just found this topic, late at night on friday night/saturday morning. like everyone else, i think it will bring more crowds than waterworks had before for the first couple years, eventually crowds ending up somewaht similar to the old waterworks crowd-basically walk on everything. earlier, someone posted a comment on the beach... to be honest, i'm really surprised that the beach hasn't gone under yet. surf cincinnati has, probably not directly related to KI, but i'm sure KI had some impact... since i'm kinda on the topic of surf cincinnati, that would be cool if BB got a ride similar to surf cincinnati's slide that you used a "boogeyboard" type-thing--and they got a board lift at KI that actually worked... so i'm not given a hard time, i'll leave this post at that.
  21. i live fairly close to Kings Island, but i haven't been out that way in a while... so, i was just wondering.. have they done or said anything about the construction of the Kings Island sign by the road? one of these days, i wanna go over to the area and see how big the tunnel thing is, since theres no object to base the perspective off... it looks fairly big, but i wanna see how big since they opened a movie theater down in cincinnati and the one in milford, i haven't gone to the KI movie theater in a long time...
  22. i'm just wondering... anyone know if wipeout beach is staying there? i've been doing it over the last couple years, and finally got myself to stay in the middle without falling. thanks
