I honestly wish they would demolish it. I love that a little piece of SOB still stands and I realize it's used for Haunt, but it looks so bad. Pull it down and rework that midway down to The Bat. Let the past die, kill it if you have to.

In my eyes, that was the Catch 22 of Paramount. The quality of the theming was high, but the placement and place-setting didn't make any sense. I think that reflects the mindset of the company, however. The parks were tools to promote the brand, nothing more.
-
I agree that wherever the presumed giga is built, it'll be a terrain coaster. I'm not so sure on using the SOB station. I feel like it would be more work to retrofit that station than simply building a new one. I also don't know if it makes sense to add such a large scale attraction that deep into an already congested dead end.

I think you're overestimating the amount of space between The Bat and Banshee where you have the lift starting. I also think you're underestimating the elevation changes in that part of the property as well as the sheer scale of coaster you're proposing.

That's a creative idea. I haven't seen anyone suggest making that area a Coney expansion. I've thought that Xbase could use that space to become it's own area. Though, I'm a sucker for classic Americana. What did you use to make that little map?

Well, at least your post lol

I'm in love with you

I love that CF is working with multiple manufactures. It's adding a wonderful depth to the chain's lineup. I mean Gerstlauer, B&M, RMC, GCI. All in the span of two years? A ground up RMC would be a welcome addition to KI.

I've got a buddy that worked in the rides department this summer. Apparently the ride ops are kept up to date on that sort of thing.
-
Attendance is up, yet ridership is down. It's an interesting twist.
-
Tons of people ride Congo Falls. It's actually one of the highest performing rides in terms of capacity to expected capacity. It's great for those summer days where the park is packed and just 100°

I honestly didn't understand most of what you tried to say. I know a lot of people on here are fans of Don's, but he doesn't play any role in park development. No disrespect to Don, but he doesn't have a seat at that table. That's simply not the way the company is structured, nor is that a part of his job description.
-
Exactly. CF doesn't build parks for enthusiasts. We are such a small percentage of guests. I would love to ride a giga at KI as much as the next enthusiast, but I would rather see more diverse, immersive, and interactive attractions added first. I would love to see our current attractions updated and improved as well.

So many people have become obsessed with coasters. Coasters have always been a large part of the industry since the boom of the 1970's, but it's gotten ridiculous recently. With the rate that parks like CP are adding new coasters, I think it's unsustainable. It's kinda like Disney buying Star Wars -- too many too frequently. I like Star Wars as much as the next guy, but I think they need to slow down. The same goes for coasters. I think the GP will eventually get burned out and start looking for something different.

Well, at least we know it wasn't aliens.

Two things. 1. Cedar Point has an arguably well rounded coaster lineup, but that does not mean the park is well rounded. There isn't much to do outside of coasters. In its current state, I would argue that KI is a more well rounded park than CP. Let's continue that instead of hoping to just be CP South. 2. Knott's Berry Farm. CF has demonstrated the ability to achieve at a high level in the theming and immersion department. Voyage to the Iron Reef is an amazing ride system and ride experience. The place-setting and physical environments are incredible. I honestly had a better guest experience at Knott's than at Disneyland or DCA. There is absolutely no reason why CF couldn't spend a couple years brining KI up to the Knott's standard.

Woodstock Express!

Two of them are turning 46!

No disrespect, but this is the kind of sentiment that has destroyed the charm of KI. Roller coasters are not the end-all-be-all of amusement parks. Gigas are certainly not the end-all-be-all of roller coasters. It's such a narrow view of the industry to think otherwise. Guests are trending toward more high quality, immersive experiences. They are looking for innovation in ride systems and ride experiences. Gigas are not innovate ride systems, nor do they offer innovative ride experiences. A diverse, high quality line up of attractions is what makes an amusement park truly great. Though CP has a strong lineup of coasters, it is not a well rounded park whatsoever. What is there to do at CP when it rains? That's not the future I want for KI. Roller coasters are fun, but they are not all an amusement park is about. It seems all we talk about on these forums is roller coasters. What about the rest of the industry?

I suppose there are guards stationed at all the entry points. Seasonal employees have some sort of pass I assume that is no longer valid. They probably wouldn't make it through the gate.
-
I'm not sure that is entirely true. There are still seasonal employees in the park taking down Winterfest decorations.
-
Are you thinking that whoever is pulling this prank is ensuring it continues for as long as possible?
-
So? Who says they are active. Who says they regularly check the site. Furthermore, KI full timers are not as influential as is implied on these forums. Cedar Fair corporate is much more heavily involved than many think. The people who make most of the important decisions go nameless up in Sandusky.
-
Perhaps we overestimate our influence? Maybe no one has actually read these forums? Shoot, KI doesn't manage the comments on their own Facebook page. Why would KIC be any different?

This was most certainly an associate. Can we please stop falling for the oh so obviously trap and move on. Some 17 year old is clearly messing with us, and we're falling for it. Hard.
