  1. The reason I was thinking this is somewhat out there, but Polaris is a single star, while Orion is a constellation. Twitter replies have alluded to a "constellation." A constellation is a group of stars; and a "star" can also be defined as the headlining attraction; something preeminent. It would be an amazing troll if KI built two coasters two years apart that interacted in some way. I realize I'm getting into tinfoil hat territory, but it is fun to speculate. The truth is, this is the best time for coasters there has ever been, and this thread is mostly complaining about that fact. Even more ironic is that you couldn't pay me enough to ride even the most tame coaster. I just enjoy a good mystery and impressive engineering.
  2. I've read and/or skimmed most of this thread, and I have a thought out of left field that's probably extremely unlikely, but I'm going to throw it out there anyway. Cedar Point's 150th is happening in 2020, and Kings Island's 50th is 2022. I expect (and it's been floated by CF personnel) that there will be new rides at these milestones. What if KI has a second major (and perhaps even larger) attraction planned for 2022? We'll call it "Orion," since folks have been keen to use the "Polaris" name for the 2020 attraction. Just a passing thought. Discuss.
  3. Yeah, but it's up to the city, so you end up with a some cities doing enforcement, and some using the county. I believe it's the same for townships. I'm not sure about who administers KI's land. I would assume the county, but I don't know.
  4. That's a fair point. I forgot that Ohio is super weird about administration of building code enforcement.
  5. For anyone that's interested, Warren County Building Permits appear to be numbered serially, and the most recently filed permit number for 2019 that's online is 1092. It was filed yesterday. I went through about 50 of them to find that (1040-1092), and there were no records missing. This tells me that Warren County is actually pretty good at record keeping, and promptly publishes building permits to their website. This would also lead me to believe that if KI gets special treatment (likely), and they filed a building permit that was not published to the website, there would be a missing permit number. If one were motivated, one could locate any missing permit numbers for 2019 and request them in person at the appropriate office. It's also possible they haven't filed yet, so any missing permit numbers higher than 1092 would be a candidate.
  6. The coaster is likely already built (or very near being completed) and sitting in pieces somewhere. A project like this would have been started a couple of years ago (design and fabrication). All they have to do is ship the pieces in, prepare/clear the appropriate land, put down some foundations, and assemble the thing. Even for a giga, this will definitely take less than a year. CF has this down to a science at this point. Whatever it is, it will open in 2020.
  7. I was able to find a mechanic listing that says 300 feet. No luck with 380, though.
