im 8% unsure cause the sign is off the building, i was told they are redoing the roof which is why  im 92% also Sling Shot has nothing to do with anything, we all know why the took it out.

Why did Kings Island remove SlingShot?

  2. It wouldn’t shock me if Skyline was added to the Festhaus in some fashion. Maybe it can be served alongside LaRosa’s? I am more curious what is going to happen to the old Tom & Chee and Subway locations. I could see something like a mini Wishbone Grill replacing Tom & Chee, but something a little bigger could replace Subway.

  3. I can across this thread on Twitter. It appears that Knott’s Berry Farm has cut A LOT of entertainment options recently. The cuts are especially interesting because they came right before the park’s usually super popular Boysenberry Festival, which usually includes additional entertainment offerings and not less. With rumors of very low attendance so far this year, maybe the cuts are a result of low attendance? Does anyone know more?

And there are small trees, less landscaping close to the buildings, no gas lights, odd pavement layout (the black “road” is the narrowest with trees in the middle of it and there’s no “ implied curb” like at KD) so without people, yes… it oooks even more depressing. I’d personally take running the parade around the tower circle instead of down both sides of IStreet over the clear cut they did when they redid the area a few years ago. Always seemed odd to me anyway there are two show stops in the same area just on both side of the fountain.

However, before the renovation of International Street, Kings Dominion’s version was still miles ahead of Kings Island’s. I do think International Street is better post renovations as the old pavers and color palettes did not look great. I do wish Kings Island tried to incorporate a sidewalk and more landscaping into International Street, but I suppose they wanted a wider street for better capacity. Kings Dominion gets much lower attendance than Kings Island, so the narrower International Street works fine there. Eventually, the trees should grow in, and International Street will look much better if the rest of it is well maintained. Speaking of trees, Kings Island should just plant a ton of trees throughout the park so that in 20 years, it is much more shaded than it is now. The lack of foliage will never get better without action. That area behind the Eiffel Tower and around Backlot Stunt Coaster could use A LOT of trees. Unless Kings Island plans on doing something else with that area, Kings Island should invest in trees for the future.

  5. The Musik Express would look very good in Coney Mall. I could see a ride like that going where KillMart is or next to the Grand Carousel in that grassy plot of land behind the International Showplace. That part of the park has always seemed very dead, and I think something needs to be done behind the International Showplace whether it be a new ride, restaurant, or just trees and landscaping.

  6. It also appears that the lines were repainted across the entire parking lot. The good news is that people will actually be able to park in a spot on busy days as the lines have been very faded in recent years in some parts of the parking lot. The bad news is that we probably won’t see any repaving in the near future.

I’m a little scared this is an indication of the “value engineering” that’s gone into this quick mini-land redo. And before people start with the “wait till it’s done to judge” comments, I’d say “don’t post official pictures if you don’t want comments”

I am still hoping that Adventure Port turns out to be great. I am honestly a little bit more hopeful now that Kings Island announced it is as a summer opening because that means that the area still has a few more months of work left. I do appreciate the park posting pictures of the progress, especially because I felt like almost none were shared during Orion’s construction. However, it would be nice to see some new angles. Also, maybe it’s just me, but I feel like construction is moving pretty slow. I feel like there is not as much change as there should be in the same picture posted today versus a couple of weeks ago. Granted, we do not know what is going on elsewhere in the area. I really, really want this area to be good and successful because there are many other areas of the park that could use some reimagining (areas like Action Zone, Planet Snoopy, Soak City, and even Rivertown could all really benefit from new life).

It lines right up with the concept art and blueprints. Trust me. No surprises coming. That is the entrance and exit for AE. I'm guessing they may add a on ride photo for AE and add a photo booth on the exit.

Do you have the Adventure Port blueprints?

From the images in the WKRC article, I am really curious what is going on in front of the storage building immediately behind the Freestyle location. While the park hasn't hinted at a third ride, this area doesn't match up with anything in the original concept art. It wouldn't make sense for the AE exit to go clear over there and the exit wasn't going that far over in the original concept art and the markers look like more than just a regular exit path.

I don’t think the concept art should be taken too seriously as it is just concept art. I also think the perspective of the picture makes it look like the work being done is farther back than it actually is. From the webcam, it does not look like much has been down behind the Coke Marketplace (in the small sliver that we can see) besides the ground being torn up and the storage containers being moved, so the work being done in this picture must not be that far back. I also think the storage containers staying nearby indicates that they will be moved back behind the Come Marketplace or somewhere back there after construction is finished.

That being said, I think you do have a very good  point about something more being done beyond the concept art based on how far back construction is going. I personally don’t think Kings Island will squeeze another ride back there, especially as it does not look like a large foundation has been dug, but maybe Adventure Express’s entrance portal and queue is bigger or more than we thought. Maybe the concept art is inaccurate, and Adventure Express’ new plaza will be more behind the Coke Marketplace. Maybe a new Adventure Port souvenir stand or even an Adventure Express photo booth are being added.

  10. Based on the webcams, it still does not look like the Subway has been touched yet. Hopefully, Kings Island can get its replacement ready for opening day if there is one. I ready think an ice cream place would work really well there, especially since Coney Mall is more of a family oriented area. An additional ice cream location there could serve all those families who get scared away from the huge lines that the other ice cream locations get. I bet a lot of people decide to skip on ice cream when they see those huge lines, and Kings Island could capitalize on this demand by adding another ice cream location, which would increase ice cream capacity. If Kings Island did bring back the Sweet Tooth that was in that location before Subway, they could potentially serve other treats in addition to ice cream.

If Subway leaves about time. Who goes to KI and gets Subway? And it was hardly ever open anyway. Year round Mac N Cheese bar please?

I doubt Subway will be replaced with a Mac and Cheese bar as Cedar Point’s Mac Shack just closed. I actually think a Blue Ice Cream stand would be a good replacement because there is not really and I’ve cream place in the back of the park aside from Ralph’s ice cream, which does not even serve Blue Ice Cream and is not always open. I just hope that it doesn’t sit boarded up.

We had a ridiculously dry, mild winter here in Cleveland. Was it different in Cincinnati?

It was probably even more mild in Cincinnati. Adventure Port is so behind on construction because construction started really late. It was also announced very late. I don’t even think Kings Island knew they were going to build it a year ago. A year ago, SlingShot was getting repainted. While it looks to be well done, it seems like a very last-minute addition.

I'm actually starting to think 2026 for our coaster. Based on other parks, I don't think we should be up yet. We all know 2024 is Dragster and Dorney. 2025 is rumored to be Canada's Wonderland's year for a big coaster. I think an Xtreme Spinner would be perfect at Wonderland. Also, Carowinds hasn't recieved a coaster since before Covid so I think 2025 will be their year. I'm thinking a GCI where the Rapids ride was plus maybe they removed the not used Palladium and combine the plots. Also, KD I think replaces Volcano first as they removed Volcano before Vortex. I think we see the wing coaster that was shelved before covid be ressurected, but maybe a little bigger. I think 2026 will be KI and Valleyfair's year.

To be fair, Kings Dominion did get a new coaster in 2022. It may have been a S&S Free Spin, but it was still marketed as a new coaster. Also, Cedar Fair has never been fair about installing coasters around its parks. Kings Dominion has not received new coasters as frequently as other parks. Also, while Carowinds has not received a new coaster in a while, they are getting five new flat rides and a major new area for next year. I know Kings Island is too, but it is a much smaller investment by comparison. I do think Canada’s Wonderland is due for a new coaster soon, though.

unless it is a base for tile or paving stone... but either of those I'd assume they would do with stamped concrete for better durability... time will tell

It would be neat to see terracotta tiles in Adventure Port like in the new Fiesta Village at Knott’s Berry Farm. I noticed in this picture, that there is a thin gap between the newly poured patio on the side of Enrique’s and the support beams. Maybe the gap is for tiles to be placed?

If they actually DO something with the concrete (stain, color, texture etc) I prefer that over pavers, but if its just smooth concrete thats not really playing into the theme

From the picture, it unfortunately does look the concrete is smooth. I agree with you, though, a plain concrete surface adds nothing to the theme. I feel like a lot of people rave about Area 72 and it’s theming, but in my opinion, it does not hold a candle to Blue Ridge Junction or Jungle X-Pedition. Besides a few props, Area 72, looks like a concrete jungle. And I know it is supposed to be a military base, but I feel like more detail could have been added.

Then you end up in a circular loop as another section of the TOS says you have to name the source...

Then could you talk about a drone post AND name the source but just not actually post the drone pictures or footage on here? Or could you just be very general about the source (like saying I saw a drone picture or footage online). I have seen a lot of users on here saying stuff like “I caught wind that Kings Island has done this” or “O heard Kings Island has done that” when, in reality, they aren’t giving a very specific source. I feel like saying something like “I saw something online and it looks like Adventure Port…” is no different if not even more descriptive of a source.

  17. I have a genuine question. I know no drone footage or pictures cannot be posted on here, but are we allowed to talk about Adventure Port progress (or really progress on any Kings Island projects for that matter) based on what we see from drone pictures online. So if a user saw that progress was made on Adventure Port from a drone post online, would they be able to talk about it on here without actually referencing the drone post?

Since we’re on the topic of Rivertown…How long do you think it’s going to be before we see some updates to the shed?

The shed needs all of its effects working again. A lot of the flickering lights either done flicker anymore or don’t swing. Also, the recording on the stairs leading to the station (the one that goes “there’s an old truck in the lumber mill… you’ve got to jump start it and get out of here… right now”) has not worked in over a year. Aside from Mystic Timbers, other broken theming elements need attention as well. I’m looking at you, Area 72.

How would you even come to that conclusion?

The bottom of the building that can be seen from the webcam is now a light blue. Before, the whole building was beige. It is starting to look like it will look like it does in the concept art.
