The Demon
The reason The Demon was taken out of the park was so they could build Congo Falls. There was nothing wrong with the ride at the time it was taken out. So the park could have said about King Cobra, "We wanted to put a hot new Huss Giant Frisbee in, and what better place than where King Cobra is?!"? I'm kidding people. We all know that King Cobra was more trouble that it was worth to keep open.

New PKI News Letter
You know what really tickled my fancy, the email had the same graphic setup as the King's Dominion web site...I think I can safely assume that the Island's web page will get the same update soon.

Best Part of the Beast!
I think the majority of the people here are going to say the helix (just like me.) It's the signature of that ride. It's that feeling when you go into the darkness and your whole body gets slammed into the seat - it's classic and unbeatable.

Website Makeover
Wow, the King's Dominion page looks great. It's my best guess that all of the Paramount Park sites will look fairly uniform, along with the Paramount Park homepage. That new page looks a LOT more professional and it seems to have more life in it.

Cedar Fair to acquire Six Flags Worlds of Adventur
This is going more off topic, but I think I should say it anyway. If everyone says that the park is a family park, and that's the reason they aren't building more coasters, then something isn't making sense to me. People like us are part of families, too, right? And if the Island wants to serve families, then they're going to have to serve us, too. What do we want? Coasters; (at least I do). Attendance IS up 3% from the previous year, so YES, the park IS doing something right. And YES; why change that? But kids my age are into coasters (like Millennium Force and The Beast) and large flats (such as Delirium and Tomb Raider). I heard somewhere that a hell of a lot of advertising in today's world is geared toward people between the ages of 15-25 or something like that. Teens are America's money spenders. If the park doesn't also please us, then less and less of us will go. We'll just see what happens in the near future.

Cedar Fair to acquire Six Flags Worlds of Adventur
I just now found this out, and it was kind of a big shocker to me. Worlds of Adventure is just down the road (almost literally) from the Point, which makes me ask the question, "How good will this be for Cedar Fair?"

PKI Goldpass?
The park may be waiting to send out flyers about Gold Pass perks when the "big March announcement" is made. I know our family got a PKI Gold Pass flyer about a month after the 2003 season ended. As for another one to come? I have no idea.

What are you guys looking forward to in 2004?
Definitely Delirium - that ride sure hit the spot last year with me, I can't wait to get on it again. As with many other people, I'm eager to see how Son of Beast will be running this year - it should be interesting to see what they did to the track. One other thing I will be looking forward to this year is taking a trip up the old Eiffel Tower - I haven't been up there since probably the mid to late 90s.

The Beast
So, ahh....about The Beast and its birthday this year...putting the trains on backwards would be CRAZY. I mean, for me, I feel a lot of the negative forces on the recaR, but The Beast would be INSANE! I could see the park maybe trying it out for testing to see if it was safe (I imagine so). That would be way too cool for me. The Beast is already a great ride, but facing the trains backwards would double the ride's greatness!

TOP GUN
Hey, we all screw up sometimes. Unfortunaltely, I do more than I'd like, but who cares. As long as I fix it, I figger I can make as many mistakes as I friggin want to. I hope more people see my point about Top Gun's theming with the other ride theming within the park. I may not be a business major (although both my parents are accountants...ba ha ha...losers) but it makes sense to me.

Fave Flyer and Why
LOL....man this topic is funny...I have one question...Do the ride ops care if you snap your tubs? Snapping them used to scare the crap out of me (but I may have to try it this year for fun... )

BB Update
A non-issue? I guess the press must have lied to me. Half a million gallons sounds like a lot of water. I can understand it if the park needed that half million just as a precautionary to avoid running out of the stuff.
-
BB Update
All I know is that when the park was half a million gallons of water short, the press got a hold of that. Being that short of water would be a slight problem if you're in the process of doing a multi-million dollar waterpark upgrade... I'm with BoddaH on this one. If there is a delay in the opening date, the press will ask and the park will answer.

The Beast
From what I understand and believe, fog and mist/steam are two different things. It's kind of like the difference between a cloud of smoke and cloud of rain. I think the chemical formula for fog doesn't have any water in it (or maybe it has a bit of water, I'm not sure). Mist/steam is pure water and WILL cause rusting. I think that's why fog machines are used at dance clubs. There's no mess to clean up...as for being safe for the environment and economical? I have no idea.

TOP GUN
There's something wrong here...I just did the following math: $6.5 x 12 hrs. in a park day = $78 per day for staffing. If the park was open every day for one year (365 days), then it would cost $28,478. That number is less than a third of 100,000. If the average day was 14 hrs, the cost to the park for 180 days of pay would be $16,380. That number is less than a sixth of 100,000. When I said that even if the park took that hit, it would help revenue, I meant to also say that if the other theming of the park was freshened up, I believe more people would come back more. I did not say this before, my apologies. Look at Islands of Adventure; the theming is amazing, which is one of the main reasons why the park has such good attendance. Like I said before, one penny is worth a cent, but a hundred pennies is worth a dollar. Think a little about that quote (by me) if you will.

Moving Timberwolf
This is true. In my eyes, relocating Timberwolf would be as dumb as moving Son of Beast six feet to the south. What's the point? It would be demolishing Timberwolf and building a new one more than relocating it. Timberwolf is staying.

The Beast
I would imagine that the park plans on updating The Beast FACTS and such in the station - I think those are five years old (correct me if I'm wrong). Other than that, there really isn't that much of a need for new paint (since the attempted theming is of a rustic/western kind). Fog would be cool, wherever they would put it. It should look pretty cool.

The Italian Job
Despite being EXTREMELY cool and almost sensible, that would be one hell of a long path. Plus, I don't see any NEW rides going into Action Zone that soon - it already seems a little cramped in there as it is...remember, the park used part Top Gun's exit as the entrance and queue area (or maybe the park just had that oddly planned out 12 years ago...). If we do see a new coaster soon, placement back near The Racer and Flight of Fear would be the logical thing to do in my mind.

Great Mountain Runaway Coaster
(shakes head) Oh, God...please take a quick visit to the Rumors thread folder... P.S. Where do NASA computer specialists like to go during the weekends? The SPACE BAR.....BA HA HA...(walks upstairs to room and hangs self for crappy joke)

TOP GUN
But if it gets more and more people to ride the thing (I would ride it multiple times just to check out the theming after not seeing it for MANY years, and I'm serious) and things build up, more people come to the park, and that $6.50 per hour is worth it. I believe firmly that if PKI stretches and tries to bring back as much of the theming as possible, people will be more excited to ride the rides and come back to the park. I think it could actually help them make money rather than loose it. Remember, a single penny is worth one cent, but a hundred pennies are worth a dollar.

Great Mountain Runaway Coaster
Make sure you thank the coaster Gods that the park didn't call The Beast "Great Mountain Runaway Coaster." We could've had "Son of Great Mountain Runaway Coaster."

What Old PKI Ride Do You Miss?
My favorite part of that ride was at the end when those hot babes were all around the car...it was good times...
-
You might be a coaster freak if...
In your spare time, you decided to calculate to the total miles of wooden track at the Island to over five decimal places. (Wow, what kind of idiot would do this?)
-
PKI to share record
The thing about the Point was total track in the park, the calculation for the Island was just for woodies. The Point has the most steel track in the world, and the most track (of both types). The Island has the most wooden track in the world.

Son Of Beast
Will it look different? Not to the unTRAINed eye (get it? rollercoaster, train, untrained!!!! .......... ). If one knows what to look for, one may be able to see a difference, I don't know if they're going to use a different kind of wood for the track lamanation or what, but I'm sure it will look the same or near to it. The ride was designed by the great rollercoaster design God, Werner Stengel, so I'm guessing that the track isn't going to be removed and the design of the ride changed (cause that would cost a heck of a lot of money).
