Are there underground storm shelters at KI?
Oldiesmann replied to Oldschool75's topic in Kings Island
By who? StormReady is a program of the National Weather Service. See http://www.stormready.noaa.gov/ for more info. -
Here's a front seat POV of the original ride, with loop... And, for comparison, a POV of the ride after the loop was removed

I saved the PDF to the desktop on my laptop so I could print it off later when I wanted to use it. You may have to contact them to get another one if you didn't print it off right away.

One also has to wonder if the Coney Island of 1971 could have survived the 1997 flood, when the river crested at 64.7 feet - nearly 13 feet above flood stage (and, by comparison, almost 27 feet above its current level).

Now it's just showing the default IIS (Internet Information Services - Microsoft's web server application) page. The focusmark link worked fine for me, and I've claimed my free drink wristband certificate, which I will probably save for those hot summer days.

The first drop and the loop were my favorite parts. In its original form, SOB was a must-ride for me on every visit to the park. After the loop-ectomy and the replacement of the trains, I rode it exactly once (ironically just a few months before it closed), and didn't like the experience nearly as much, mainly due to the way the trains shuffled on the track.

Great Wolf Apollo Acquisition

Interesting that the CEO is now saying that she "hopes to stay on with the company". I wonder what happened to that big bonus she was supposed to get if they fired her? Will be quite interesting to see where things go from here. Hopefully this works out well.- 66 replies

There's also one in the rides/maintenance shop behind Surf Dog.

According to this video, it's WE-mit.

You two have too much time on your hands...

It's about the same size as what you'd get at Penn Station. Not as good, but still well worth the price in my opinion.

On opening day it was well-enforced - you had to show your FP wristbands in order to get into the line after you'd walked through the queue. I even saw two people walking back out of the FP queue at DB, saying something about the single rider line (apparently they can't read).

Another Change That No One Has Mentioned (I Love the 80s Store)
Oldiesmann replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
My dad had a book on solving the thing (The Simple Solution to Rubik's Cube by James G. Nourse - long out of print, but available on Amazon really cheap), so I often solved it that way, but I can definitely recall peeling the stickers off or taking it apart and re-assembling it to solve it as well. For me though, it was more fun either messing it up and seeing how long it took my dad to solve it, or making silly patterns with it (crosses, stripes, checkerboard, etc.). -
Has anyone seen this before?

And yet the Giant Top Spin is still listed on Huss' website. What's strange is why Paramount/CBS/Viacom (whoever owned the park at the time the decision was made) would choose an unproven concept model over a reliable and well-proven actual model when the capacity of the giant model really isn't that much better than that of the standard model. Capacities for both, from Huss' website (which of course means they're nowhere near realistic): Giant - 900 people per hour Regular - 855 people per hour In a perfect world where you actually hit the stated capacity, that's only an extra 540 people per 12-hour operating day. -
SFOG 05.16.2012 Photo Shoot

If only I lived closer to Atlanta. Would be a lot of fun! -
Found this on Screamscape. Apparently on Good Friday, two brothers were out riding their bikes when they came across an open gate at Canada's Wonderland. Rather than ignore it or inform the park, they decided to take a nice 6-minute joyride through the closed park, surprisingly without being approached by security or other park officials. However, one person did comment on the video saying that he "lost his job" because of them, so I'm guessing the park has taken measures to ensure that this won't happen again...

DAY is an international airport, just like CVG. However, I have no idea how big it is in terms of international flights considering it's halfway between Columbus and Indy.

They haven't announced any more info on that yet. I'm sure we'll hear more in the coming weeks.

Delirium went down a couple of times for reasons not known to me. Flight Deck also went down around 4:30 or so due to a problem with the restraints in one car.

I believe they will be in the Coca-Cola Marketplace outside Coney Mall. There is a column on either side of the drink freezers which each had a random metal door on them a few feet off the ground. Considering that LCD displays don't work too well in cooler weather (if you saw what happened to the TVs in the DB queue later in the day, this is what I'm talking about), I'm guessing they weren't open due to the weather.

Thanks for sharing! 1982 is the year I was born, so it's quite interesting to see what the park was like back then

Yes they are. That show starts June 15th.

Being a huge fan of oldies and classic rock, I recognized most of the songs in the show, some of which I haven't heard in years. Overall I thought it was good, though I was a bit surprised that they put "Pinball Wizard" in the Elton John set since The Who's version is much more well-known. I'm sure it was hard to choose the songs for the show though, considering the large number of great British songs that charted in the US in the 60s and early 70s.

Yeah, I was surprised when they gave me a receipt for my parking. I guess they want to make sure you don't hand your pass off to someone else after you enter (though if they pay attention to the photo it'd be hard to get away with that). I also noticed that the Metro route no longer goes to the passenger dropoff area, though it's still a bit of a hike from the new stop.
