Yes, I experienced flight commander only once... and that was enough for the ride just lacked thrill.
-
I hope it opens by L-Day Weekend. I have never had opportunity to ride DZ. It could possibly be the most frightening thrill ride I have ever experienced.

About 1.5 to 1.75 hours from Lexington depending upon traffic. We are walking down International Street within two hours.

Anybody ever stay at the (now defunct) campground (in the area now occupied by Great Wolf Lodge)? As I remember it was a KOA establishment. A girlfriend and I once "camped" there. It was like "sleeping out' in the back yard what with the manicured lawn and all. But on the positive side, the KI turnstyles were just a short walk down the road and great for early arrival.

Hey Everbody! Well, I have made arrangements to take the wife and boy to KI for Labor Day Weekend. Although our first trip to KI this year, it will make for a nice season closer to other summer activites. This will be a first for us in that we plan to stay Saturday night and make it a two day event. We plan to devote one day to the park proper and the other to Boomerang Bay. We have visited BB only once briefly since it was revamped from Waterworks. The boy in now better than 48" so many rides are now available to him which were not during the '06 season, likewise with BB. I also sprung for the Backyard Barbecue for at least one "good" meal. Is this worth the cost? I like the fact that it is all you care to eat. We always take a camera and I will snap off a few pics and put together a TR after the fact.

When did you start going to KI and where did you hear about KIC?
Stewart32 replied to Young Gunz's topic in Kings Island
I began going to KI sometime in the mid-80's, probably about '86. First time was with a bunch of guys from college (WKU). I remember that we tailgated in the parking lot for lunch. Been going ever since then albeit sporadically. I think I first saw this website when it was another url. I wanted to do a little research/reminisce before the first trip after a long hiatus, probably about '03. -
I like the idea of it being a quiet park. Keep it well maintained with plants, a water feature, plenty of shade trees and seating to relax... as it were. Put the Park back into amusment park.

So why was the loop removed? I rode SOB only once and remember that it beat the heck out of me but was great fun otherwise!

Thanks We will go for the wristband.

Hey All! Long time no post and glad to visit the forum again. Well... the family and I have been making at least one pilgramage to KI from KY for the last 3 years. The boy is just under 48" barefoot now. He seems to be ready for the major ride attractions (those without vetical loops anyway) and it would be great to ride them with him. So the Q is... do you think the operators will make him remove his shoes to check his height? Thanks and happy thrill seeking.

Longest wait was for WWC in its debut season. At the time, every other light standard also had a speaker which belted out "Deliverance" style banjo music. Of course after about 5 mins the song repeated. I was not diappointed when the music was removed. As I recall, the line started on the RR overpass. The ride was OK, I return to it religously on every trip. The other contender(for longest wait) was for Top Gun, again in its debut year. Music was better, as were the theameatics (?) what with the cool aircraft carrier motif and all. But, contrary to the above, the ride was way way to short for the wait. I was sorely disappointed and refused to ride it again for several years. It is only now that I consdier it.

Well... Made the Labor Day Trip to PKI. Arrived @ 10:30, gone at 6:00. It was hot and crowded, but fun nevertheless. I had opportunity to ride only one "new" (to me) ride which was SoB. By the time I got to SoB I was suffering from a strong sinus headache but decided to brave it any way as I would not have another chance untill season 2006. I chose a seat in the last car, middle row. Impressive height and speed. But very rough, and probably exaperated by the headache. Defintely the most whiplash ride I have ever experienced. I look forward to riding again under better, healthier circumstances. I also rode The Racer, reverse, last car. Still a thriller after 20 years of riding. Didn't have much time to ride additional "big stuff" The rest of the day I spent riding "little stuff" with my 4 year old son and his friend: 2X The Beastie (thier favorite), SDaHC, WWC, Wild Thornberries, viking ship. Looking forward to 2006.

Sorry folks, the moose out front should have told you. Another classic line courtesy John Candy. I actually did have a Clark Griswold moment. For we were due to leave on a family vacation on Sunday. We were to pick up a brand new minivan from the dealership on the preceeding Saturday. I figured the dealership would try"Clark Griswold" me by trying to stick me with a "family truckster" vehicle, knowing I was leaving the very next day. But dealership came through and we drove to the Florida Gulf Coast in a new Honda Odyssey as planned. By the way, Big Kahunas a Destin waterpark is worth a day of fun despite the steep entrance fee.

the covered walkway disappere? It was like an inverted half pipe and had some type of vine like vegatation growing over it. Always a cool welcome on a hot summer day. Also, does the floral clock still exist?

The SD... On one my earliest visits to (then) KI, we rode the deamon at least 20 consecutive times in a row. There was no line. Jump on, ride, jump off, run climb steps, jump on...etc.
-
Isn't that whole experience called a "Clark Griswold"?
-
Anybody checked out PKI @ Google Earth? Its and old image, the antique cars are still in place.

You could have said F/O or something Yeah, I see your point. Along similar lines... When I was in high school (Eastside High School), there was always somebody pushing the rule book limits. One day this guy wore a T shirt with the following letters: "Phuck Eastside" True story

I'm guessing 36", possibly 42". He was in the train and had to get out to "measure up" with the proof stick. The crown of his head was just over the line.

When are you going cause BB will be closed soon i think. Yeah, according to PKI's site, BB will be open over the holiday weekend. We plan to go Sunday. Can anybody provide an attendance forecast? Think it will be busy?
-
With a little luck, he will be able to ride it this year.
-
Yes, I think in order to catch up, I will have to break away from the family unit for a few hours. Hmm, maybe if they go to BB.... So many rides, so little time!
-
I have a lot of catching up to do... its been a while. new to me rides: SoB FoF F Off deliruim DZ TR How is IJST? BB- last visit pre wave pool. On the other hand, I have riden The Beastie more than a grown man should as well as SDaHC. The things we do for our kids. Laugh it up young guys for you will be there too and enjoy every minute of it.

The boy already has experienced The Beastie. His most technical coaster so far has been Greased Lightning in KK. This is a screamin deamon style loop.
