  1. I know! I hope that all the former Paramount Parks are to soon be under the BusCh Administration. <G> AMEN
  2. I remember Cinema 180. To this day, it is the only simulator experience that ever made me feel like I was actually where the movie was. Just from sitting on the floor. And to the guy from Animal Kingdom.....Thank you for your input. It is nice to know that other people do feel strongly about the zoo topic. And I might be joining you soon. Representatives from both Disney's Animal Kingdom and from Sea World came to my college to interview the seniors. And I think that my interview went very well. As for Kings Island. Only time will tell what will happen with it. I can only hope that the parks future will be as grand as it's past. I have every intention of visiting Ohio to attend Kings Island for years to come. As for new owners. I hope they have an open ear to new ideas. Rumors about Kings Island are heavy, even down here in the heart of Florida's attractions. M.F.
  3. Actually the deaths that occurred at the park in 1992. ( All on the same day. One on Flight Commander. Which was a Drunken woman who stood up while on the ride. And the One who got a little too close to the electricity by actually going into the water. And the security guard who died while trying to save this individual) did occur while under the ownership of Paramount. Granted the park did not grace the Paramount Logo until the following year. The sale had been completed by summer "92" At this point the announcement that WinterFest's last operation was going to be held during that year had already made as well. So to state that no individual has died during Paramount's Ownership is a false claim. Paramount was already making changes to the park at the time. And I do know a lot more details about this day. My sister worked at the park on this day. And One of my good friends was working Flight Commander when the woman fell from the ride. I'm not going to go into details about it. If you don't know than you don't need to know. M.F.
  4. You laugh about the concept of a zoo at Kings Island today The only problem is that it doesn't matter what you say Your lack of an education is apparant and clear Because a source of knowledge you obviously fear Otherwise you would openly welcome a Zoo But things like this probably don't even matter to you All that matters is the thought that somebody somewhere thinks for a solitary moment that your cool But in reality that makes you quite the fool Living for other people and not yourself Makes me feel really sorry for you You, who laughs at the concept of Kings Island having a Zoo. This ( just in case Combat Stupendous89 is reading, and I seriously doubt that you could actually figure it out on your own ) IS FOR YOU! M.F.
  5. Well. Animals and wild places need protection. One grand way to ensure both futures is to educate people about them. Thats what a zoo is about. The animals serve as ambassadors for the rest of their species. If people see them, and feel for them, then the better chances are that they would not want to hurt them, or cause their environment any harm. Who is to say that a park with the amount of land like (Kings Island) would simply bring back a monorail. That could be a part of it. Bringing in exotic animals that are not commonly found in other zoos would be a necessity for a new facility. It would make it unique from all of the rest. However crowds must also be pleased. Zoos need to contain animals that are considered to be POPULAR amongst the audience (or crowd) These animals include eagles, elephants, lions, tigers...etc. You get the point. Another key element in the developement of such a facility is of course LAND. The Cincinnati Zoo is roughly about 70 acres in size. Kings Island has over 300 unused acres just waiting. All wooded. That defeats the purpose right. Well, not necessarily. Many parks build around as many trees as possible today. And this helps to set the mood that is necessary to enjoy a zoo. Monorail. Sure, why not. And a walk through zoo. And an aquarium. All of these could be enjoyable. Animal shows featuring dolphins, seals, birds, foxes, etc....They all could be beneficial. The concept of bringing a zoo back to Kings Island cannot fall short of the parks full potential. It could be a themed area. With rides designed to match the mood. And games with prizes that fit the theme as well. Of course there would have to be a safe balance between the two. For peoples safety, and for the animals safety. This includes the amount of stress presented to the animal. In any case, the stress level on any animal would have to be kept at a bare minimum. A lot of new zoos today attempt to recreate an entire ecosystem in a massive complex. This could be a fresh idea for the park as well. And a 1st for the are. A themed area such as this could have exclusive pay rides similar to the X-treme Skyflyer, and the Sling Shot. Part of this payment could go to benefit wildlife and wild places. The possibilities could be endless. So I encourage the concept of bringing a zoo back to Kings Island. And I think that anyone doubting it, should reconsider and look at it with a new perspective. Don't just bring back what was there in the past. Make it better. Make it more real. It really could be something you would want to go back to.

  7. I'm sorry, but I just simply must make another comment here. The designers of The Raven are simply imitating The Beast.......LITERALLY The Raven's lead designer is the daughter of one of the lead designers from the Kings Island company. .........Who built The Beast. His daughter and her team (again) LITERALLY studied the design of The Beast and its background while building Raven. It was not susposed to be as giganitic as the original version. Rather smaller but with the same feel. It was a successful plan. Raven is a GREAT RIDE. It would be more suited to the title of "Son of Beast" than the actual Son of Beast. Basically, Look at The Beast. See what you like. See what you don't like. Take the actual plan, and split the measurements in half and add a few "new" things to meet your personal desire as an artist. And BooM....you've got RAVEN.
  8. I don't want to put down Paramount's Kings Island. It really is a great park. But I do have to admit that the atmosphere in the park is not what it used to be. I, for example, do not want to read advertisements for Cincinnati Car Dealerships while walking through the park. And the themes don't really fit anymore. Especially Tomb Raider, granted it is a great (short) ride. I do admit that I really miss the shows of old. Back when you could go into the FestHaus and watch an ice skating show while you ate. That and several others. Another thing that I would be willing to change dwells further into commercialism. The park of old had individual shops with individual themes. Now every shop virtually carries the same merchandise (for the most part). And the food shops of old were each very unique. Now its like being outside of the park. Lets go to ChickfiLe or Subway. These kinds of places have no purpose in a park like Kings Island. On the other hand, Paramount and originally Q-102 brought FearFest into the Spotlight. I remember being there for the opening day of the opening year. It was amazing. However, they never have quite put as much into it any other year. At least it does not seem that way. The transformation from Water Works to Boomerang Bay was a very welcome one. With the result being grander than the original. Drop Zone, and the X-Treme Skyflyer of 95 and the SlingShot of 01 are simply incredible. WinterFest was simply Bliss. So really there are a lot of good and a lot of bad things that Paramount has brought with it to the parks history. But probably more good than bad.
  9. Santa's Toy Factory can be compared with the shows at the WinterFest of Old. This is the single best compliment that I could give it. And I would like to say THANK YOU to everyone who participated in making this show what it was. YOU REALLY DID DO A GREAT JOB!!!!!
  10. Raven - 6 Legend - 6 Voyage - 7 Consider this. TODAY!!!!! The Beast is the LONGEST WOODEN ROLLER COASTER in the world. This thing opened to the public in 1979. Nobody can touch it. Nobody wants to touch it. There is just something about its design, and it's environment. Granted they attempted to touch it with the Son of Beast. Which is cool, but rough. I mean, granted they allowed The Beast's record for speed be broken by this coaster. But its still not as fun to me as The Beast is. But to get back to the point. When you consider how ahead of the times the designers were when The Beast was built. The topic alone demands respect. Another thing that you have to consider is the generations of people that have made great memories with this coaster. These kinds of things can't be ignored. To call The Beast overrated is like saying that Education is overrated. One person cannot get enough of either.
  11. I would like to apologize immediately for any confusion that I may have caused when starting this topic. The Wild Animal Habitat ( to the best of my knowledge ) was never responsible for harming a guest. However due to the poor decision making process of One individual. A final mishap had occurred. Due to the reality of confidential information, this is the only statement that I am willing to make. The point of my original statement was to see if people are truly interested in the ( idea ) of a Zoological Facility returning to Paramount's Kings Island. The idea is to take a poll. Get your opinion. State your supporting statements. And feel free to state your complaints. Who knows, if enough people visit and show interest, and the right mind becomes aware of that. Maybe....Just maybe...It could happen. After all if someone were to ask me just a couple of years ago what I miss the most about Kings Island. Or what I would most like to see come to Kings Island. My 1st answer at that time, without any second thought, would have been WINTERFEST. And it happened. After years of rumors it happened. My #2 answer at that time and my 1st response NOW is the reintroduction of the WILD ANIMAL HABITAT. So go ahead, and voice your opinion. The more opinions, both for and against, the better. I'm not expecting that it will happen for certain. I'm not saying that I am expecting for it to happen overnight. It would probably take years to contract such an occurance. But it would be an incredible result. One that could benefit with educational field trips, education for society, and another attraction to the Cincinnati area to advertise as a vacation spot, and make a profit off of. The benefits could be nameless and countless. This is the main point behind my topic. THANKS................G.R.
  12. It's got to be MERCH MAINT.
  13. If in the event a mass competitor such as Cedar Fair (Cedar Point) were to purchase the respectable P.K.I. They should come with the concept of reintroducing the zoological facility, WILD ANIMAL HABITAT. A previous successful breeding program, and display for the public. One that regretably had to be removed due to insurance reasons. As a result of a few rediculous occurances. What they should consider however (to avoid such problems of the past) is create a park of splendor and have it be endorsed by the AZA. Which has procedures which should diminish any possibility of a repeat of the original. As a former associate of Paramount's Kings Island. And a student in Zoology. I would be willing to return to the park for work for just such an opening. I have discussed this topic with several other Zoo students, and graduates. Some of which have also worked for the park, and some of which DO work for the park, who would be willing to make a reintroduced ANIMAL HABITAT into their careers. What could happen is to take the facility of old, reintroduce it, and add onto it as well. Make a full size zoo out of it. Bring back the animal shows. Bring back the joys that were a part of Kings Island before it was ever Paramount's Kings Island. If P.K.I. was willing to work out and reform a bigger WinterFest.......Imagine a Newer, and Better, and Bigger... WILD ANIMAL HABITAT..... G.R.
