That's quite a treat. The sign shop is exactly what the name implies -- they make the signs for the park. However, while back there you can see hundreds of old signs from the days of the past. In fact, that's also where they are constantly doing rehab on carousel horses too. Trust me, it'll be one of the highlights of the day. Ryan And if your lucky, you might even see a smurf! Bill - Who has been on 3 other SOB tours but can't WAIT for this one!!

What is the most times you have rode the racer in a day
ZosoBeast replied to RacerRider113's topic in Rumors
I did The Beast 17 times in a row one day. Was in the same train each time, but I switched seats every once in awhile to shake things up a bit. It's not The Racer, but still, my own personal claim to fame. I like The Beast. Bill -
Those that know me, know that I don't write many trip reports. However, I thought I would give my comments on the newer happenings at the park.... The Ice Show: I liked it. Very colorful and the music kept it going. But not being a huge fan of Ice Shows, it made me miss School Of Rock a little. Son of Beast: The wait was ok so we decided to take the extra time to ride the first car, first seat. I do agree with other riders, the ride was less bumpy than before. But, I must say that the first helix still needs some TLC. I really liked the new cars. It was crazy sitting in it, looking ahead and not seeing the loop. I really liked the new section of track. It even smelled new as you rode over it. Firehawk: I actually wrote about this ride before. The back seat is definitely where it is at with this coaster. The way it whips you through the loop makes it worth riding over and over again. Tomb Raider: While not NEW, the fact that the music is no longer working makes for a very strange ride! Almost made the ride a little scarier. After riding it as many times as I have, then riding it with no soundtrack was just flat out weird! But a part of me hopes they keep it that way for a little longer. It is really different to say the least! The Beast: Again, while not new, the ride op there needs major props for knowing all the lyrics to the "Furniture Fair" theme song. "Welcome Back Buddays, how was your ride??" LOL!! Yeah, sometimes it is best not to ask. We ended up riding it 5 times as it turned out to be the MOST thrill for the least amount of wait. It was practically a walk on all day long. So there you have it. I know it was not as detailed as some of the others, just thought I would share a little bit of my experiences with you. Oh yeah, on a side note, I received a nice gift last night... thought I should share.... OLD SCHOOL Kings Island! Thanks for reading! Bill

Well, Avatar pretty much beat me to the punch! Everything he said with the addition of the "hamburgers" being UNDERWATER the whole time waiting for the next person in line to decide their fate! And can somebody PLEASE tell me what kind of meat that hamburger is supposed to be? I mean, come on! I tasted better burgers in High School! The best thing about the buffet is the all you can drink sodas. By the way, Avatar, you should have told us you were in town, would have been nice to meet up! Been awhile! Bill

We ate at the buffet once this season. $15 each. I was very VERY disappointed. I would not even remotely recommend it. Money better spent at Happy Days if you ask me.

Teen Injured In Kings Island Parking Lot
ZosoBeast replied to The Interpreter's topic in Kings Island
Do you guys think this would have made the news if it happened in a Kroger parking lot instead? I think not! -
Yes, I can confirm that the Superman theme was playing at Kings Island last year since one of the most unreal moments that ever happened to me at the park involved it. For the 4th of July fireworks last year, Maureen invited Ryan and I up on the ROOF of International Restaurant for a birds eye view of the fireworks. I wore my Superman shirt that day. After the fireworks were over, the regular IS music kicked in and one of the first songs to play was the Superman theme. I walked as close as I could to the roof, put my hands on my side and with the the theme song playing and my Superman shirt on, I felt like I owned the park! /Stupid story, I know //One of the best experiences I ever had at the park ///I like The Beast

Longest You've Been Stuck On A Ride & What Ride

I can confirm that on June 1, the Cedar Point Maxx Pass worked at the scanner at Kings Island. Also, both Firehawk stations were being used today (6-10-07) Forgive me if that was already mentioned on another thread. Bill

I kind of remember seeing signs as we went thru the toll booths telling us if the trams were running or not last year. I believe the signs are gone this year.
-
I was there Friday morning as well and was impressed to see it open along with the rest of the park! This time, the yellow train was running and the Red train was on the transfer track. Have we had a day yet when both trains were running?
-
I got to ride Maverick on Monday and I agree! I had no idea that coaster was going to have such a serious punch as it did. It is an AWESOME ride! As for the line, I was really shocked how fast it goes. The sign said 2 hours for us but it took no more than an hour. They had all 6 trains running.

Look at Gabriel doing push ups on it! lol

Thought I would share this with all of you! This was taken on our second ride of the day yesterday. From left to right: CoasterRZ (Robbie) , ZosoBeast (Bill), Captain Nemo (Gabriel)

Kings Island, 5/26/2007 (Free Tshirt Give away pics)
ZosoBeast replied to ZosoBeast's topic in Trip Reports
I wish I got to ride 10 days early! A couple times the ride needed to reset it self so it would come up, then down, then up, then down and the ride op announced it had a new name....Rocking Chair: The Ride. Corny, but it got a laugh from all of us. -
They actually ran that train a couple times this morning. We spoke to an employee at the ride who said they were hoping they can get the second train running tomorrow.
-
So today I met up with CoasterRZ, Caption Nemo and Uncle Henry for the opening of Firehawk. Long story short... Wait 5 hours, ride Firehawk. Seems a little slow on the last section of the ride. But fun. A little slower than I remember it when I rode it last year as X-Flight. After riding, they gave us a coupon for a free Tshirt. Ate Happy Days. Went on top of the tower for birds eye view of Firehawk. Rode Beast. Met up with Combatstupendus, waited 3 hours, rode Firehawk. Got another coupon! Got Blue Ice Cream, got my 2 free tshirts. Went home. Very tired. Will have lots of pictures to share very soon. Bill

HEY! I was in that group as well! Way to leave a Budday out! I see how it is! Bill = Chopped liver!

I just found out, they are actually left over Winterfest T-Shirts. Zosobeast, who will be here all week! (virtual high five to The Interpreter)

5 hours for Tomb Raider on its opening day (evening). Park opened at 5:00pm and they could not get the darn thing started! Finally at 9:40 they invited us into the que to see the pre show, but it broke down in the middle of the movie. Everyone laughed. It was the only thing you COULD do! Went back the next morning and finally got my ride in. The ride ops would walk up and down the line to help keep spirits high, even started the wave at one point. But was it worth it? Nope!

I am shocked that nobody in this topic has touched this one yet, but what the heck is up with TRTR? They totally sucked the life right out of it! I say, tear the roof off of that thing and turn it into a normal top spin! The ride is a joke anymore! On a side note, did anyone else notice they took out the seats they no longer use? IJ:ST The stair effect does not work (as always) nor does the on board audio. In fact, they actually took out some of the speakers in the train. And whats up with the music they play in the station? And the pre-ride announcement has no personality to it at all! They guy sounds very dull! If that ride had ANY magic before, it is gone now. This ride is pretty much the only coaster left without seat belts. Spongebob 3D is STILL there? Come on already! Isn't enough, enough? Thats my rant for now....

Maureen, I am very sad to hear you will be leaving us. A visit to the park is never complete without one of your signature smiles and your off to the side smirks as a result of one of Ryan's weird comments. One of my lasting memories of you is standing on the roof of International Street restaurant for a bird eyes view of the July 4th fireworks. Totally unreal! But you must move on and I wish you nothing but the very best in your new adventures to come! Take care and stop back and say hello sometime! Bill Ware
