Carowinds is a great park. It has really improved a lot in the last few years. I live about 4hrs away from it & go whenever I get a chance. Top Gun is the best ride there! I really wish they wouldn't close so early.

With the amount of work they have to do to it. I don't see it re-opening this season. It'll be a miracle if does.

What is yor favorite KI ride that is not there?
pkidude03 replied to troubled_diva's topic in Kings Island
king cobra & phantom theater. -
I voted inverted. Top Gun at Carowinds is amazing & Dueling Dragons is awesome. Neither of the 2, or I should say 3, have mid-brakes & I love that. They are really intense also.

I love Son of Beast. I've ridden it many times & have no physical problems. Over time I figured out how to ride it without being beaten to death. I can only handle about 4-5 rides in one park visit. After that.. I'm done with it till next time. The trains are badly designed & need to be redesigned. I think the track is fine.

I would love to see a ride, shop, or eatery themed to Rocko's Modern Life. I absolutely loved that show!

Deliriumbeast! i'm from the Kingsport area too!! well actually I live 25 mins north of it in Duffield, VA. I want to go back to Kings Island so bad this year! I didn't get to go at all last year.

It's been a long time since I replied in these forums. I made a pki music compilation back in 2003 & here's what I have on it. All songs were played in International Street then & probably still are today. A lot of these songs are on the Paramount Pictures 90th Anniversiery Album John Williams - Saving Private Ryan 'Hymn to the Fallen' Nino Rota - Romeo & Juliet Love Theme (1968) Jerry Goldsmith - Chinatown Main Theme (1974) Jerry Goldsmith - Star Trek Theme John Williams - Raiders of the Lost Ark Michael Gore - Terms of Endearment Theme Harold Faltermeyer - Axel F Giorgio Moroder - Flashdance Love Theme Marc Shaiman - Addams Family Henry Mancini - Moon River Nino Rota - The Godfather Love Theme Danny Elfman - Overture/Breakfast Machine (Pee Wee's Big Adventure) Danny Elfman - The Drive-In (Pee Wee's Big Adventure) Vangelis - Chariots of Fire Vince Guaraldi - Peanuts Theme Monty Norman - James Bond Theme John Williams - Star Wars Theme John Williams - Star Wars Episode 4 Ending & Credits Song Alan Silvestri - Forrest Gump Theme Gabriel Yared - The Talented Mr. Ripley 'Italia' Nancy Wilson - Vanilla Sky 'To the Roof' <can't remember if this one was played Songs I remember, but cant remember the artist: Star Trek: Wrath of Khan Theme Goonies Theme Star Wars Cantina Band (the song from the Tatooine bar scene) Original Gladiator Movie Theme Driving Miss Daisy Theme A Summer Place Police Squad Theme Song (Also Naked Gun Theme) Superman Theme (I was amazed myself....) Braveheart Theme Almost anything from the Tomb Raider score soundtrack is heard in the Tomb Raider ride line. Mint Royale - From Rusholme W/Love (Vanilla Sky) use to be on Q-Tv I think the theme from Rudy was played.. not sure on that. There's a lot more that was played in International street, but I don't know the names or the artists of the songs.. The entire Top Gun soundtrack is heard in the Top Gun line.. especially at Carowinds.. Thats all I can remember! Hope this helps ya!!

-Why does Baba Looey's Buggies have a little train on it when the actual ride is nothing but little single pedal cars on a track? -Why does Quick Draws Railway look like a paved road intead of train tracks? -The little blue car in the Paramount Story, which was the car off of Waynes World, isn't there anymore. -The Yogi & Fred HB entrance arch isnt there anymore & is still on the map. -When you don't notice the cable, the guy swinging from the Skyflyer looks like he's laying on Days of Thunder's track and has been ran over. -Top Gun's turnaraound is higher than Son of Beast's breakrun. -Antique Treats isn't listed. -The red ford model T at the antique cars looks like its to big for the track. just a bunch of things I notice when I look at it.

I've never gotten sick there.. but I always get headaches. The bright concrete is what does it to me.

I think the slingshot incident sounds crazy. I mean.. the ride guidelines are posted right at the gate and in the map. It's rated a 4 and says if you had recent neck, BACK (hint hint to those "injured"), or bone problems then you should refrain from riding. Appearantly those folks didn't follow the rules. I think the park has the bases covered on this one...

Nickelodeon Celebration Parade!
pkidude03 replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I watched the entire parade from the Eiffel Tower from start to finish on thursday. very unique! -
Someone mentioned earlier that Carowinds detectors are more sensitive. Maybe because if their crime rate is higher they will be more alert about weapons & such entering the park. I go to Charlotte all the time and I think its more dangerous than Cincinnati... thats just me though. Depending upon what has happened at each park determines how tight securtiy is.
-
I just didn't know what the bouncing deal was all about... it was something I noticed this season. That is all
-
higher crime rate equals increased security...
-
Isn't Charlotte's crime rate higher??

1. IOA 2. Universal Studios 3. PKI 4. Dollywood 5. Carowinds Dollywood makes my list because it's the closest park to me, I've been going there everysince I was little, and its 100% country just like me!

Thrill Seeker Thursday is my favorite perk. I will be there next thursday to get my early morning fill of thrills. You're right.. there's hardly anyone that goes that one. The Op's take their time loading rides up.
-
I'll be there on those days (tue.-thur.) next week.
-
Gosh! No wonder their staff is so rude! They won't let you stay on their rides to ride again when there's no one in your line either. One of their employees b*tched at me for asking him if I could stay on because no one was in my line. He said.. "get off & walk back around!!".. boy if I wasn't upset about that.
-
I've never seen them all open at once.. I was there on June 4th (BAFFD) and there were a little more than usual open. It only took me 1-2 minutes to get through.

Those rings on the sides of board shorts are called eyelets... They don't allow them on the body slides. All of the other slides allow them. my guess is why they wont allow them is because it scratches the slides up. Here's what I did.. I bought a cheap pair of board shorts with the eyelets and went home & took them out with plyers. My mom sewed the edge of where they came out so it wouldn't unravel. I went on Down Under Thunder and had no problems! Try It! I also heard that people tried putting duct tape over them.. Or find a pair without eyelets. Last time I was in one of the shops that sold them some of them had eyelets and some didn't.

My guess is that if the motor hasn't been replaced since it was built then the motor is about to go out. The motor could be fine though. It could just be slack in the cable or something. It looks like a heavy duty wench is what pulls the seats up. If that motor has been pulling all that weight up and running hard in the summer heat every since it was built.. then I'd say that motor is about to give out. It should last a few more years. When I go to the park on the 27th, 28th, & 29th I'm going to see if it still does the bounce thing.

I leave my house in VA.. turn on to s.r. 826, then onto s.r. 612, then turn onto VA W58 all the way until I reach the Cumberland Gap Tunnel in Middlesboro KY. I follow North 25E all the way to Corbin, KY then turn onto North I-75. I drive all the way until I get to the I71/75 Interchange below Cincinnati, then I take I-275 East until I get to I-71.. then I stay on it till I reach the park. The whole trip is 5-6hrs.
