  1. I would think that your gold pass is sufficient. My platinum pass (our home park is Cedar Point) functions as a "gold pass" at Kings Island; hence, "gold pass parking" and not "platinum pass parking". I do have one more question. During the "Haunt" days, is the park open regular hours? I know the Haunt is from 7pm-1am, but is it open like normal for the rest of the day? Really looking forward to something other than CP's Halloweekends.
  2. I have a general question; we are platinum pass holders. Does this get us into the Haunt? I can't seem to find the info on the main page anywhere.
  3. They were there when the ride opened to the public for the first time. They may not have been there when it was scheduled to open (before the heartline roll was removed), but I can assure you they were there when the first public rides took place. And yes, they are almost unnoticeable this year; hence, the latter portion of the ride is a bit more intense than last year.
  4. Finally got on the crypt last week; I am not sure what all the "improved" talk is about. Can you say Disaster Transport? Seriously, either theme the ride well or dont theme it at all. What the heck is the room supposed to be? A warehouse with rocks in it? 1) The queue is great as always 2) The wierd bat-like demon is fun to look at, but what is it supposed to be? What's the story? 3) A room with rocks? That's a crypt? Sorry, but that was a pathetic experience, and is right up there with Disaster Transport's attempt at theming. It is not Cedar Fair's strong-point, and I would vote just tearing down the building altogether and having a top-spin ride. Sad.
  5. Thanks for all who responded: I forgot one question though. With our platinum passes we enjoy early entry into Cedar Point (an hour early). Does Kings Island have this for Platinum Pass holders? I am hoping we get something similar.
  6. Greetings; long time no post. My wife and I are planning on returning to KI after a few years off (job, new baby, life, addiction to CP, etc.) Therefore, we have not experienced the park post-Paramount. Now, I am aware of most of the changes, but I am wondering how, in your expert opinions, has the experience of Kings Island changed? Specifically, 2 big things come to mind. 1) Food operations; Cedar Fair does not have the grandest tradition here (IMO, CP gets about a D+ in this category). Kings Island, however, always impressed me compared to CP. Any changes? (i.e., service, selection). And 2) How is our dear friend Son of Beast riding? Has it actually improved? My wife has already declared I am riding it solo first. I know opinions on this ride have always been across the board, and while I always gave it at least one ride, I was in the "this ride is just not fun anymore" category three years ago. I dont expect it to be smooth, but I am just wondering if Cedar Fair has actually made any improvements.
  7. If you want to know what the future of TR will be, go ride Disaster Transport at Cedar Point. For those of you out there who do not know what I am referring to, Cedar Fair has an absolutely HORRID track record for doing anything about theming. In fact, their "standard" seems to be to let things slowly fall apart, never fix them, and then turn a completely blind eye to the problem. Kinzel has been quoted, when discussing theming, as saying "The ride itself is the theme..." yada yada yada...translation..."I dont waste money on theming, but in building bigger, badder rides." Look at the old Paramount Park. That's how "theming" is done Cedar Fair style. You get great, world-class rides, but as far as theming goes you can forget it. My only hope for Kings Island is that they dont EVER shirk the landscaping. KI has always been one of the most beautiful parks in the country (right up there with Busch Gardens Europe IMO). If you travel up to Cedar Point, you'll realize landscaping isnt exactly the "forte" there. Last season there were decorations for Halloweekends literally left out on the midway ALL SEASON. It's kind of odd when you are getting ready to ride the Skyride and you are greeted by a paper-mesche boars head.
  8. Just curious what your thoughts are on the theming that is going to go into Firehawk (if any). For those of you that never rode XF at Geauga Lake, it had subtle nice theming around some sort of "secret flight test" type of environment (i.e., the entrance sidewalk resembled a runway, etc.). Being installed next to Flight of Fear, and with its obvious "military-esque" flight machine logo, lends the ride to be re-introduced with a nice theming atmosphere, but what will it include? Intense music? Maybe some nice fog machines a la Top Gun's glory days? Sweet lighting package? Has anyone heard anything? Seen anything? Just curious.
