From what I heard, 74Gibson, the train on Blue Streak actually is a brand new train. I'll see for myself on Wednesday with our first trip. Mean Streak did indeed get some serious work done in the offseason, so I am looking forward to giving it a go. I'm most impressed with what they did for our dear old Ocean Motion!

Windseeker & Coney Mall Construction Continues

Anyone who does not know is on a need-to-know basis. Describing, in detail, what is going on would be akin to describing exactly what is wrong when a ride breaks down. Do they do that? No. Is it frustrating? Yes. -
The bottom line is guest responsibility. If you are in a wheelchair, have a prosthesis, are pregnant, obese, etc., it is your responsibility to know the rules of the game, and I would think that you would do your research before just assuming the park will be accommodating. Then again, that takes personal responsibility.

Windseeker & Coney Mall Construction Continues

Well some of the last live views of the cam were of test dummies being unloaded. It is not uncommon protocol to have the cams shut off during initial testing, so unless you're at the park, you're not going to see the first runs. Although I am not sure what control CF has over the Fox 19 super-doppler-action cam. -
If I may ask, why is the water no longer there (and when was it removed?) Looks like a wonderful bit of scenery to add to the "Rivertown" feel.

Worthwhile, as a good laugh as I get ready for an early day is priceless. -

Your optimistic limb was correct. Looks like some seats (grey) are installed. -
Dinosaurs Alive! is coming to Kings Island in 2011
dr_humor replied to CoastersRZ's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Anyone who is disappointed paid no or little attention to the "what is it?" thread. Honestly, if you did not know what this was after day one, you were diluting yourself. Many experienced posters were consistently advising people to lower their expectations in preparation for a little thing we like to call reality. You are incorrect. First of all, families are the "majority" of customers at every amusement/theme park in the country, and not only are they greater in numbers, but they also spend significantly more amounts of money in the park then any other demographic. But let's take a look at what Kings Island did: they added a terrifying new thrill ride and a family-oriented attraction in the same year, in addition to beautifying, in a large way, a significant section of the park. So you are "angered" at a park when they install two major attractions that appeals to a wide audience? There are some who will not be happy unless a major, world-record breaking coaster is not installed every other year. But what does that take? Well for one, stupidity (see Geagua Lake when owned by Six Flags), and huge amounts of capital. And like you said yourself, CF is up to its "eyeballs" in debt (which actually is not entirely accurate; of course they are in debt, but it is being managed very well, and in fact they just struck a new negotiation a month ago that significantly reduces their payments for said debt). CF has actually ridden out this terrible economy in fairly good fashion, but they do have to be careful. For example, Shoot the Rapids was originally planned for 2009, but it got pushed back due to the economy. -

Quite pleased. A little surprised that a Platinum Pass does not get one in, but the 5.00 charge is not ridiculous. That's cheaper than a beer. Like others, I do hope that the park is able to maintain a rather sophisticated level of theming and atmosphere in high working order on a consistent basis. -
I'll just echo what I said earlier. It's one thing to get a thrilling ride like WindSeeker in one year. It looks terrifying to me, but I cant wait (even though my ride will be up in Sandusky after most of you give it a whirl). This year, you are getting WS, a complete overhaul of the coney-island walkway (the brick pavers), AND this Dinosaur-walk-trough-trail type display. That's pretty darn exciting for one park for one year. And next year is the anniversary year. Sounds like the gifts are coming early.

No I did not.

This thread just gets funnier with every passing hour. Guys, it's pretty simple. Dinosaurs Unearthed is coming to Kings Island. In a beautiful outdoor setting. There. Now you don't have to wait until Friday. Now, how many parks get a new "area" and a world-class thrill ride in the same year? That's pretty sweet. Something for the younger crowd (and let's face it, all of us will check this out at least once), and something for thrill-seekers. By the way, if you have not yet seen them, the seats for WindSeeker arrived at CP this week, and you can find them over at C-Buzz. They are very open...and I mean, very open.

Look at my name.

I don't know. I'm still not so sure that it will involve dinosaurs. Maybe sharks, or another snake-type creature. I still think it will have something to do with SOB. And be from B & M.
-
I've also been looking at all these clues lately. Have you guys seen them? You should really check them out. Using my powers of thought, deduction, and reason, I have come up with the following conclusion... A dinosaur may in fact be involved. Don't ask how I came to this conclusion...just putting several clues together, although I am fairly confident this may indeed be true. Again, you guys really should check out these clues. You can find them on the Kings Island home page.

I would think the DK would stand for something like Dinosaur Kingdom. And look like this: Hope you all enjoy animatronics.

It may be very wise to lower your expectations.

Why do I get the feeling that there are going to be a lot of disappointed people around here in about 4 days?

Yea. How evil of them to actually use their own website. That's two observations, liar.
