Diamondback Construction Thread (Updated 3-19-09)
Kawana replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Haha...well, a.) you'll be riding before you know it!! (Just think, a year since the announcement has already past!!), and b.) you can easily ride comparables this very weekend if you truly wanted to in Toronto, New Jersey, Montreal, Atlanta, Williamsburg, etc. (that Chicago one certainly doesn't count!! ) A year since what announcement? Diamondback's announcement was on August 6th, 2008. -
one of the scarers in line for urgant scare saw me sitting on the rail and she came up to me and said"please dont sit on that hun. you might fall and get hurt" haha Congrats, you just posted for all of us to see that you break park rules. haha. yep. but who doesnt sit on the rails? When I was 6-10? Sure. Now that I'm a responsible member of society, not so much. "Rules are what separate humans from animals." D. Schrute

Ok, how does this grab you? I would rather read Terpy's worst post ever than read most of the other posts that are posted to the various threads. Tip to posters, learn to spell, and attempt to use proper English. The amount of misspelled words that I see on these forums is staggering. I use English, and so can you!! -

Au contraire, mon ami. A conversation about Terpy is never a waste of time. He always has insightful things to add to any thread, even if most are veiled in humor. Terpy=good. -
It looked waay slower back then. Is that just me? Neat old trains also. Thanks for that video.

The second photo from Helbig is insane. It's crazy big now, and it's not even finished yet. -

Perhaps the train is assisting those with a need to know about clearance issues. Like, will it hit the track, etc... -

Fair enough. It still was a mess of confusion and uncertainty. -

Agreed. Considering this was one of the most poorly promoted events this year at KI, in my opinion, I wouldn't be surprised if the record wasn't broken. We were told two different things when we arrived about where to go to be a part of the kick line which differed from what was printed on the flyer that was given out at the parking tolls. I even talked to Nick who has a gold name tag, and he had no clue what was going on. While we were lined up, people were asking what was going on. Someone dropped the ball on this one. Not one person could say with authority where to be or even at what time. -

The guy in the red hat was the husband of one of the Rockettes. We got to talk to them a little before it started. -

No Helbig participating in the grand dance? Sheesh, I bet Jeff Seibert would have pranced his tush about! No. He was running around the area, but I'm sure he didn't kick along with us. Wouldn't that be funny if we were just one person short? On a side note, your very own Kawana is featured in that video at the 2:53 mark in grey shorts and a grey shirt. We had to keep touching the people next to us and all I'll say is I'm glad I have longer arms. -
The sign was sitting on a chair just a few steps behind the Entrance sign, hard to notice. It's been there since my last trip report. You can read it here. Second paragraph.

I talked to GR on the way out on the 20th, and they told me unofficially we didn't get it. -
Sorry for the confusion. Sounds like you'll be the next lucky owner of a D40, my friend. If you're not trying to get crazy with things, it'll suit you fine. Canon vs Nikon is a personal thing, and when I chose my D40 I picked my side in that battle. Both are fine choices. Happy hunting.
-
I voted for straight because I think it's scarier. Like on MF you can see the bottom but it never seems like you're going to get there.
-
I have a D40 and I think it fits all your criteria. If you're looking for NFL level speed out of a camera, the D40 just won't give it to you. However, the D40 is a great camera and cheap too. You may also consider the D60 as a good step up for just a few more nickels. About 200$. I love my D40 and I have pretty much all I'll ever need for it. Kit lens 18-55, Zoom lens 55-200 with VR, remote shutter control, external flash. I say go for it. I have only taken it to KI once and that was for the Diamondback announcement. After I was done taking pictures, I took it out to my car. I'm just not that into taking pictures at parks.

Cedar Point goes mobile
Kawana replied to gigacoaster2k's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I wish. It's just the basic coaster stats, like the fact that it is termed a gigacoaster and that loose articles are not permitted on this ride. Loose articles that I'm sure CP would define as cell phones, cameras, etc... Interesting. -
Yeah, Halloween is not my favorite thing to do so I'll not be going to HH. Maybe during the day but not at night. Actually I kind of hate Halloween and that will probably never change.

Once the lights in the queue were put in, I totally agree with you. It's so nice to cool off with the AC. This guy. There's no way you'll ever see me near a snake ever. I'll ride any coaster out there, but no snakes. I even have a hard time going into the "snake house" at the zoo.
-
I'll be there with my girlfriend Elina. Crowds be darned. It's probably going to be our last trip of the year so we won't be missing it.

Very cool. This is why I love this site. Thanks for everything you guys do. Construction is really zooming along, can't wait to ride this bad boy. -
I'll be there that day and hopefully I'll be kicking with the Rockettes. Should be interesting.
-
I would assume that once Diamondback gets closer to opening, we'll see more. I mean what can he say really that we don't know already. "We've started assembling the coaster with some track pieces and supports being placed." Didn't Maverick's blog have testing updates, and behind the scenes stuff like that? That's what I'm waiting for.
