  1. Thing that stands out to me is it lists only 5 - 10 person boats. Isn't that like half the size of your typical boat capacity? And with the typical time it takes for a boat to make a full circuit, seems like the hourly capacity would be very low. Granted the elevator will speed things up but just seems like it would have more boats. Lets see, 60 mins / 2.4 min cycle time = 25 cycles an hour per boat X 5 boats = 125 cycles X 50 passengers = 6250 people an hour at full capacity, hmmm, never mind, thats alot of people!
  2. I know your not saying anything bad about the Dragons...they are freakin awesome, and the themeing, wow, just wow.
  3. Coaster does look good and will be alot of fun, but I have to say, and don't kill me, but I don't see this as what they put it up to be, meaning, the biggest announcement in 36 years? meanest coaster? even seen a Kings Island first hyper coaster on their website. Beast and Sonny are still the biggest and the meanest, to me anyways, Son is a hyper, but good thing about Diamondback, it will be a smooth sucker!! lol
  4. Behemoth (Hebrew בהמות, behemot; Arabic بهيموث bahīmūth, or بهموت bahamūt) is a creature mentioned in the Book of Job, 40:15-24. The word is most likely a plural form of בהמה (bəhēmāh), meaning beast or large animal. It may be an example of pluralis excellentiae, a Hebrew method of expressing greatness by pluralizing a noun; it thus indicates that Behemoth is the largest and most powerful animal ever to exist. Metaphorically, the name has come to be used for any extremely large or powerful entity.
  5. Yeah they are making this out to seem like it's going to be some kinda record breaker or something in that email. Biggest announcement in the parks history? Thats quite a statement to make for what is rumored to be just a B&M Hyper, unless that rumor is not entirely correct. Time will tell.
  6. Ok, so they have set an announce date, construction is picking up pace, track is already arriving, and we are in july. I'm thinking that if they are going to start track installation this soon, there must be some heavy themeing involved like mavericks. Have the coaster (at least around the station and such) built so they spend the fall, winter, and into spring on construction of themeing? Would think if it was just a plain ol coaster with a plain station, would be no need to start this early on installing the track. Thoughts?
  7. Do believe the "Mustang" name rumor can be forgotten about. Wonder if thats the same box SOB was locked up in? lol
  8. As Interp has said, the strongest rumors are pointing to the Busch family keeping their parks, which would be a very good thing!
  9. Ok That's Some Fuuny Sh!t Right There.
  10. I agree. I would trade a dozen trips to Disney for one trip to an AB Park. I can not say that I've ever had a bad experience at any of the Busch parks. I had one complaint at Busch Gardens Africa, which ended up with getting mouthy with a game attendant "manager". When you walk up to a game, you usually read the posted instructions and rules, which are usually laid out in plain english. I go for the games you win once and get the big prize, no winning a bunch of small ones and trading up. So i beat the game, not once but twice, since it said limit 2 prizes per day. Woo hoo, I have a happy kid. The attendant looked shocked, so goes and gets her boss to verify. So the boss comes over and lays out different rules then what is posted, hence saying no big prizes for me. We talked about what was posted, just for her to ignore and stick to her guns, rudely, so I basically told them what I thought of their crooked schemes, loudly, ended up getting a big prize from a different game, that was HONEST! Found it sad of all the things that could go wrong there, they made an issue out of a stuffed animal. other than that, I also would take an AB park over any of them, they are just amazing to walk through.
  11. Notice everyone is holding on tightly in that pic!!
  12. Saturday, July 7, 1984 - A woman was flung from the Rail Blazer stand-up roller coaster ride at Six Flags Over Mid-America theme park in Eureka, Missouri. The woman was whipped from the train and fell 20 feet to her death. Park officials claimed that the woman fainted, causing her to fall out. A passenger standing next to the woman during her fall said that the woman had not fainted, but was simply "flipped out" of the ride. Rail Blazer trains did not have any kind of bicycle seat like stand-up trains have now. They consisted of a shoulder harness and a padded square that pressed up against your knees to keep them straight. http://www.rcdb.com/ig496.htm?picture=10 The restraints were supposedly just like this train from Worlds of Fun, which didn't last very long either.
  13. Yeah, we spent 13 hrs at the park that day and left like 10 minutes before the Mystify show started. I didn't realize they had changed the location of the show til then. I still have pictures of the old show which I think had fireworks, the projections onto the mist of water in the air, and i think lasers? Been along time ago, well Wild Artic was new when I was there last! Seen the DJ's going with all the lights and people dancing just like a dance club, was pretty cool, not what you expect to find at a park like that. And was really surprised about Universal closing at 8, didn't understand that at all. Would think it would have been cool as hell to walk around after dark there and over at IOA.
  14. Also back around when King Cobra came about, Six Flags St Louis converted their mine train ride to a stand up called Rail Blazer for the 84' season, which I do believe derailed and killed people, but I don't remember the specifics on that. http://www.ultimaterollercoaster.com/coast...990/80s_6.shtml
  15. Was there a couple of weeks ago, we caught part of the ski show as we were walking around the lake, impressive that they do that kind of show at nighttime. The Shamu shows are awesome. Had planned on watching Mystify as I had seen it many years ago, but when I found out you no longer watched it from the stadium and seen the locations they wanted you to view it from, we just left. I think that was a bad move because after walking around all day, it is nice to SIT and watch a show, not have to find a place to stand along a walkway. Don't understand why they changed that but oh well.
  16. Wow, amazing video, have never seen that before. Knew the tunnel wasn't added til after the first season, and to see those old original trains, just cool.
  17. Everyone is intitled to their opinions, no reason to be rude about it. Trims for safety, totally agree, to prevent normal wear and tear, disagree, make modifications to the ride to keep the ride quality there, don't just bandaid it (stick a trim in), spend the time and money to do it right. As far as good decisions go, and i realize this comment will **** people off but life goes on, haven't seen to many good decisions at this park since paramount bought it, and doesn't seem like Cedar Fair is going to do any better. To me, a park is much more than the rides, and every year I see the beauty of the park disappearing to put in a ride in a bad location. On that Maverick issue, I have never been there, only seen what I read on the net, so to hear that you do a launch straight into a trim brake because ur too fast for the upcoming elements, well thats the dumbest crap I have ever heard of!!! Slow the launch down, where is the common sense at here, wow....got to love those engineers!!
  18. Lordy lordy what a discussion. Just going to throw my opinion in here as well cause I disagree with the ones who say other then the type of brakes used The Beast is still the same, that is just total b.s. Now i only get to go up to the park every few years, but i have been going there for over 20 years, so I have seen the changes to this once remarkable coaster. This coaster was the best when it really was The Beast, not this neutered version that they have now. There was no slowing down before, it was balls to the walls, and people loved it, line would be 2 hrs long just to get on it, there would be good airtime on the hills, not be slowed down on a hill right over the initial drop, oh yeah, thats thrilling, get going good just to be thrown forward from a dumba** brake in the worst location ever. A pleasurable ride should have nice and gradual movements, like the old skids offered, not this abrupt what the hell action you get nowadays. The coaster should live up to its name. Now i understand the maintenance end of it, which is why i was told they do the trims so excessively, but that excuse is lame, it costs money to make money, way of life, they could invest into this monster to let it be the coaster it once was, we have the technology..lol...not even going to touch on SOB, but FoF, oh yeah, that was once a great coaster as well and I still want to ride it, but back in the day when they didnt use the mcb, that coaster was flat out awesome. The Beast, I used to make a point to get on it as much as possible, but now, its nothing but another ride, which is really sad.
  19. SHHH! I don't know how you found out, but don't let anyone else know! The Lake Erie saltwater keeps messing up the hydraulic launch motor. We went from dreamland to fantasyland..lol....Tear down a $25 million coaster and move it south 4 hours....good one!!
  20. I heard that it had vallied sometime friday, which I would believe before the lightning theory..lol. Boomerang style coasters are know for vallying so.
  21. So, how did they redo where the loop was? Just straight track into the set of helix's? Did that seem to make the ride less interesting to anyone?
  22. I had only got to ride it as Hellavator I think 1 time, because everytime I was at the park, it was constantly breaking down, and I dont think I ever saw all 5 cars being used, seemed to be at least one that was always just stuck at the top, so not the most reliable ride in the world. And to bash Six Flags for not keeping up on their stuff, I find that funny, at least for this park, because i used to go there before Six Flags came around and the place was like a giant county fair. Vampire was a fun ride, but it was wore out junk that as always breaking down as well because they didn't take care of it. Look at its last months of service, vallied 3 times in what, a month? Had to have the fire department come rescue people off it that many times in that short a period, SF did the right thing by moving it to another park and starting over with it. Anyways, what happened was a freak accident that noone could have foreseen and it is very unfortunate, but it's the chance we take with all rides, remember, they are just machines, and they do malfunction. Safety systems get better and better because of accidents like these in my opinion.
  23. Well maybe Sonny will be better this time around with different trains, who knows.
  24. I see...well other than Kumba, only ones I have actually ridden are Batman and Chang, I think..lol..I was just saying, I think one out in the woods like Beast would be awesome, like have it somewhere on the side of the park so it could venture out into the woods, ya know?
  25. I'd love to see any kinda B&M at KI, but I hope if they ever do, they don't do some standard layout and instead do some kinda monster that utilizies the terrain and woods.
