What is Kings Island REALLY going to get?
Changmanky replied to familyguyfun1's topic in Coming Attractions
I know exactly what KI is getting next year. Ive been told by a SFKK rep that some people from Cedar Fair were looking to get a "water" coaster for BB, the same as the Deluge that SFKK has got at their waterpark. Seems logical since they are fixing up BB. That would be cool to have and maybe they will make it bigger and longer. -
Back then i rode it when i was 8 and then 9 and i remenber that it was really high. i thought maybe a 100 feet but now im wondering if that not right.
-
I was always wondering....How high was you up in the flumes above the ground and what was the drop height????

When did you start going to KI and where did you hear about KIC?
Changmanky replied to Young Gunz's topic in Kings Island
I heard about KIC last year and had to come be with the rest of the KI goers. -

Id have to say the first time i went to KI was with about 15 of my family members. Im thinking it was 1987 cause Vortex was only about five months old. I was scared of it, King Cobra and Screaming Demon. I was tricked onto The Beast and i thought id never let my uncle live it down but man what a ride it was then. As far as the rest, Rivertown had to be the best part of the park back then cause i loved the wild west theme. I remenber when the water was underneath the queue in The Beastline. The log rides were awesome and i really miss when they had actors on the train ride. Im not sure if WWC was biult then and i cant remenber when it opened. I loved Hanna Barbera land and The Beastie was my fav. Oh and having to go under those "Ivy" covered tunnels was neat. But all in all the one thing i dont miss back then was those long, long, long lines. Man I remenber only being able to maybe ride six rides in a day cause ive seen the queues of Racer back then be all the way full plus a line stretching halfway down Coney Mall. the only regrets i have are not being able to ride Flight Commander, Skylab, and Screamin Demon before they were taken out. It was as fun now as it was back then, except now im able to ride as many rides as i want and sometimes twice. P>S> Oh forgot about those "bubblegum trees". LOL -
just so you know thrill biscuit-Hard Rock park does plan on having a ride called "Crazy Train". It will be their 1st "Woodie". Of what porportion is left to be seen.

If its in the high 20s id doubt anybody would wnat that because the park wouldnt be able to buy anything else for a while. -

your right Dvo-i think Riddlers Revenge is the best because it was the last one biult of that design. they made it better in hence is the reason its the best around. i like the way they put eveything to everything-the lift hill going through the first loop, the riddler theme, more curved. Yeah im jealous that chang isnt like it, but since i live here near the east coast than about 2300 miles way, ill take my coaster with a grain of salt and love it. -

Ive always been a firm believer in three things--One: dont take out or tear down a ride and then scrap it and never have anybody see it again--if its worth selling to another park then do it. There have been many rides that would have benefited going somewhere else instead of the dump. Two: Never get the same "exact" ride another park has. make it your own--if you do get one make it different than anybody else's. naming it something else doesnt work. Yeah people may love that a ride they see another park is coming to their park.but if you add or do something different to it to make it better, that will excite people to come see it "bette". three: If you do buy a brand new ride that nobody has ever seen or rode. make sure it something that is worth it. yeah putting a ride in Rivertown is cool.but make it so darn awesome that people will want to go there first. have people leave the parki telling their friends how awesome it is so they will come back. -

your right. we may never see another stand up B&M---now and inverted B&M--possibly floorless with the same track design. Maybe. Id like to see a floorless at KI, but if they are going to do just that--GO BIG. dont pansy out and make it simple. Make it something nobody else has or has ever thought of before. -

Iron wolf and Mantis, yes are similar-but as i said have different styles that are uqiue to them. Iron wolf is compact- not spread out. Mantis you can walk under. now all are good rides-to tell you the truth it wouldnt matter which type they get even though they are are similar.Chang yes has one more inversion but Mantis has a taller inclined loop i believe. But im sure that B&M will find something different to bring to the table if they decide to build another one making it the best all around. -

Now my home park-SFKK has some good rides but it will never equal KI in any form. I dont care what it does. King Cobra to me when i was growing up had to be the best ride KI had. yeah hold on Vortex and Beast were great, but to stand up.....awwww nothing like it.and when it was taken out, i cried. then my park got Chang....thank god almighty! my prayers were answered. Now if KI got one, that would be awesome and hopefully some of you on here have rode Chang and im here to tell you it would be good to have one there. -

from what i gathered, Sixflags is kinda leary about Hard rock park in Mrytle beach. Why i dont know. hell there are only going to be about five big rides anyway to intice you to go there. and dont get me wrong Led Zeppelin looks as is it will be a hell of a ride but there are others that juct out into water-so you tell me will it be that good??? -

yes they are good stand ups but each have their own uique style. Im sure B&M has come up with another style for the stand-up. which i believe will be the most radicall thing we've seen in the past ten years. -
Today while i was at SFKK-a couple of my buddies that are employees, said that early in the morning, a group of people were viewing the land around Chang. A couple of guys they remember to be B&M techs and the others they didnt know before. at lunchtime, one of their supervisors said that some reps from another park-in this region???, dont know which yet-so hold your horses people!, were thinking about buying a coaster from B&M in the same style as Chang or Riddlers Revenge. I know there are only two of these types of stand ups with the hill height and lenght in USA- with one being on the West coast in Valencia, CA and the other one in Louisville,KY. Now maybe another Six Flags is thinking about getting a stand-up at their park but their super seemed to believe that it may be some other park on the East coast possibly Kings Dominion. now how reliable that info is i dont know, but i will definitely get the answer.

I know CF doesnt want to up the money but they need to face it---"you have to spend money to make money!"
-
Id still say move Topgun to X-Base--so it would theme with that area better. You would then have that plot of land. Move Ae to Rivertown by TR:TR and it would be better. Then there would have spaces galore for all kinds of new stuff. Flat ride in the spot where AE was,Topgun and AE get reprofiled and redone to make them better. Then, you have the spot TG occupied and whereever they decide to put the new coaster in Rivertown(cause it needs one) and maybe the possibility of not just one but two or three rides at once. that would sure help attendance then and cure all our itches!!

Family Sueing Six Flags
Changmanky replied to Cortney's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Intamin should'nt or won't claim responsibility. but Intamin stands behind all of their rides. even though it wasnt their fault, they will help SF anyway they can so it doesnt tarnish their reputation. -

what will end up happening is SF will settle the case out of court. then they will meet with Intamin to discuss if its in theirt best interest to fix the ride so it doesnt happen again or get rid of it for something else. If i know the personnel that runs the park--Superman/tower of Power/Hellevator is gone. Honestly, It was one of the first drop rides that Intamin made. its old and outdated. get rid of it for something far more safer, better and something that the SFKK maintenance people can handle. Hell ,they could'nt keep Vampire or Starchaser going and they got rid of them. they were old and barely ran when they were working. -
but id agree that AE needs to be at least changed or moved around. make it better. dont get rid of it entirely just redo it either where it is or in Rivertown.
-
sounds resonable.but where would it go in rivertown?AE is small enough to fit there, somewhere, but a coaster that mimics Maverick is going to have to have some land and the only option there would be in the woods next to Beast. if you do that then i think moving TG to X-Base should be done too. then that land could hold the next coaster or whatever.
-
Lets all just sit back and think a minute.....Yeah it would be cool if Cf decided to move some rides and retheme them and in the spaces they occupied biuld new rides like a floorless B&M and a couple flats> that would be awesome. But lets evaluate the pros and cons a sec. PROS> 1. moving rides like Topgun to X-base so it stays in the aircraft/military theme and Adventure Express to Rivertown by TR:TR to keep with the "wooded" theme sounds great. they both can be refitted with new euipment--hence make them better and maybe "longer". The stopping station shakes now at the end of TG and it can't withstand that much longer and everybodys argees that they can now change the "ending" of Adventure Express--with in my opinion should have been first all long. 2. Now since we have two spaces that have been left by AE and TG you can start adding rides. You have all of the land that was TG to build your Hyper/floorless/giga coaster right by SOB in Actionzone. Since it seems that the majority wants the B&M, why not put it in the wooded valley.makes sense right and then you could use AE slot for a couple of flat rides. Everybody's happy. CONS> 1. MONEY!!!!! its going to cost a bunch to move rides to new places around the park. which leaves none for bringing or buying new rides at all. hence all the time it will take to move, redevelope land, rebuild or biuld newrides will drive us all nuts for many years. It would at least take five years to at least move and biuld existing rides and new ones. MUch Much money. and i doubt CF will ever let any go right now. 2. We also must look at the "existing" factor. Yeah some of the big rides have been here for many years, and who knows what Cf is thinking. they may instead just take out the ride and send it on its way. they may think instead of moving it, why not just get rid of it. And i dont speak for everyone here but i was highly ****ed when KC and KCKC were taken out and never setup again. i would kill over that if they did it again. they reprofile The Beast when it needs it why not TG,AE and Vortex? Im sure maintenace on these rides are great. but they are what makes KI what it is! So, we all need to look at the big picture, yeah the park needs some improvments, new things and keep the themes going. A new coaster, no matter what they choose to get if they decide what in the next years to come would be great. i would love to see Rivertown get something new or used, out or from within the park, and retheme some of the rides not to mention redo and paint and give some new euipment to them to keep them around forever so my kids can experience what i have for the past 25 years. But whatever they do its gonna take years and lots of moolah to do what we want them to do.
-
And if they decided to put it right by The Beast, they will lose the "wooded" element that i think gives Rivertown its just due.
