  1. Good to know, I wish KCKC replaced Congo Falls. I personally do not care for Congo Falls due to the extreme lack of variety. (though it'd be unbelievably fun if you had 20 friends with you to fill up the huge boat!) I wish Tomb raider was put in place of Congo falls, not KCKC. Does anyone else agree?
  2. Yet again, very true. Why I said that it's still very unrealistic to only have tolerable front seats in a 12(?) row train. lol Be glad you know at least. If I had ridden all 20+ times anywhere else... mannnn...
  3. Very true! Exactly why I stated that "I'm not trying to excuse the ride" However, if you do follow those tips you can make the best of the situation and turn a painful experience into an adreneline filled rush of speed. I can sort of prove my theory beyond what a previous poster said. I went to KI yesterday with my friend who, when I started to lead him onto S.O.B. was very scared and said he didn't want to ride and get battered. I assured him he'd be alright (He's 6 foot 3 by the way and very able to ride anything) He agreed and was very suprised and started having a great time. Without my hyping up the ride at all even though it's now my personal favorite, he said his favorite ride in the park was now S.O.B. We rode it 8 times.
  4. I have ridden Son of Beast at least 20 times since it's reopening. I have a couple tips hearing how much people seem to dislike it and are beat up by it. If you follow what I'm about to say I guarantee a smoother ride if you are even interested in trying it. 1. ALWAYS ride in the very front seat of the train. I rode in the front seat all but 1 time and loved it each time I did. The front seat seems exponentially smoother and more tolerable than the rest of the train. I rode in the rear half close to the center and was screaming in pain the whole time. I know now why people complain. Under NO circumstances ever ride in any other seat. I felt like my chest was going to explode when I rode that one time not in the front seat. 2. Always always ride the blue train. The red one seems much rougher. I rode them both in the same seat (Front one) and the blue feels much smoother. If you follow those easy steps I layed out you'll have an exponentially better ride. Unfortunately it's very unrealistic for only the front seat of the blue train to be smooth and enjoyable on a roller coaster with many rows. I enjoyed the front of the blue train because you're literally going at 85mph on a silk smooth train. It became my favorite ride in the park but ONLY because I rode it how I did. If I had ridden anywhere else in the train, I would have been hurt the 1st time and never ridden it again. Those are my 2 cents as experience as a park guest! Not trying to excuse the ride, but if you're interested give it a shot!
  5. The Coal cracker looks similar to KCKC. Are higher hydroflumes now illegal to run? My friend said that KCKC was too high to legally rebuild. Were the keelboats 4 seaters?
  6. 1992 I believe. I was too little to remember the smurfs stuff. My first ride ever was to car ride in Hannah Barbara land that's now called "Jr.Drivers". I remember looking at the King Cobra and being scared to death! 2nd ride was the Scooby Zoom (the little Bill one now) and 3rd was Kenton's Cove Keelboat Canal.
  7. Okay, I can clearly see the drop now thanks. One of my questions was which one did you guys prefer to ride? KCKC or Kings Mill? I would guess KCKC due to it's height?
  8. PS: Why is this in KI Polls forum? Sorry, I'm new to these forums and didn't know a better place to put it. Thanks so far for all the info especially the walk-through! Some of that jogged my long term memory but I have absolutely no idea what the hydro launch was and do not remember it at all. Could someone explain more on that? From what I got it was just an additional 4 foot drop after the big fall?
  9. Hey everyone, I'm 18 now and have faint memories of Kenton's Cove Keelboat Canal and would like to ask for your help in understanding what the ride was about. I'm pretty sure I rode it a couple times in my early childhood because I remember a rotating loading platform so I'm pretty sure I am thinking of the right attraction? Anyways, I don't remember alot about the ride itself. I would like to know how it worked. I am curious on many aspects, such as: Was twice as tall as the kings Mill that stands today? Which did you prefer riding? Why was it removed? How did the boats travel side by side, did they race? Was it really fast and intense? Any info on this ride would be greatly appreciated!
