The little two winged planes..behind Scooby Sky Coaster....the German accented "Hello my little pilot's.....".....dismantled this past week.
-
Might as well put the little Bi-Planes from HB on the list too....they were removed this week. They are now in storage.

For some reason...267 feet of free fall...at 67mph...and the words 'jury rig' don't make me very comfortable....maybe it's just me

I think I can find that out pretty quickly...well this coming weekend anyway. I'll take a wild guess at 44 inches with a max height of 77 inches. Should be another new ride not very nice to you big guys...and those with long legs...in this ongoing trend to design safer rides around a onesize fits all body type.

Yes, the spinning is now working. I myself was surprised when I ran over to DropZone before my swing shift and the ops were smiling and saying 'Dude, we got our spin back!'. The spinning doesn't add any thrills..but it does allow you to get that great view of every direction with a nice slow spin. Now to figure out how to get transfered back over to Action Zone so I can work Drop Zone again...

Heh....I know a couple of guys that could play Squidward...and they wouldn't even need makeup or a costume:) Well except the six extra legs...err....wait..he isn't an octopus..he's a squid..make that two extra legs.

If you work a couple of doubles in a row...and you are a walking zombie just trying to get back to the parking lot so you can drive home....sleep a few hours and be back for another double shift....you are bound to see almost anything. It can be an eerie place when the lights are off...the guests are gone...you find yourself alone walking past one of the wooden coasters and you hear a few cracks and pops of the wooden structure settling in for the night. It can get so quiet so fast when the park closes. I think many of the past rumors and sightings can be directly related to sleep deprivation....or alcohol;)

Oh that instance, The kid wasn't stuck...just very slow going down...yes..that was ugly. That was on Twist and I can't say anything about that. My use of 'stuck' was in reference to fat people who are too big to go down. Some little kids just don't weigh enough to get up speed to make it all the wy out the bottom of the tube. As far as the son with the dad following..I believe he just left on his on before the lifeguard said it was time to go....that happens all the time..especially with kids/parents...they want to go down together..and if you don't physically block them sometimes..they will. I will check tomorrow..but I think the changes have started on Kookaburra Bay...ripping out all that pretty 'fishcrete' that was so slippery and laying something new down...plus redesigning Kookaburra Bay so it is more lifeguard friendly. Also, we made changes to Taz the final week to slow down people entering the funnel...don't think it really made a difference...I think you'll see more weight enforcement next year.

LMAO..now that is funny...I worked 8 days on...1 day off...and I'm the biggest gossiper there...never heard anyone get stuck in a tube...and why would we 'hit' the guest in the tubes? Now granted...I had to walk down some slides and 'push' people along that were stuck due to sticky bathing suits...nothing to do with being fat.

heh...a lot of people wonder this question. I've been asked many times. First, in the mornings...a maintenace guy must WALK up the tube to inspect the fiber glass for scratches and cuts...usually they pick the small young guy to do this..you don't really walk standing up...but it is an easy walk/crawl up. Second, I don't think I've seen many people that large..walk up 5-8 flights of stairs. Third, you'd have a buttload of lifeguards, maintenance, EMT's, Security, Deputies, managers, hell..everyone laughing their butts off.

I worked pratically every day. I never once got sick this summer. I was in the water so much that the chlorine ate the hair off my legs and it is just now growing back. I'm an older guard...so I'm in the know a little more than the 16-17 year olds that work there. As far as I know, no major food contamination happened this year. Also, I do know we never once had any biohazard problems like what happened in White Water - Atlanta a couple of years ago where everyone got sick. I took care of quite a few injuries this year. Most from kids running and slipping and thus busting their heads open. I'm thinking for Fright Night of just wearing some of my lifeguard shirts that were covered in blood....that's a joke of course because we burn anything with blood on it and get spray for decontamination when we get blood on us from head to toe. I had a few heat strokes...eventhough this summer was really mild...and a few beer strokes ...but this year was very easy going in the injury/sickness department. Heck, I only had a handful of kids that seriously tried to drown themselves. Ok...now to your symptoms...with all the concrete...and water reflection...it could have been sunlight reflection..brought on by a mild dehydration....being in water all day sucks the moisture out of ya...or drinking too much beer:) Also, we used to all gang up together on our days off and go to the beach....it's something different than where we work...so why not? I'll tell you this....our maintenance guys constantly check chlorine levels..about 3-5 times a day for most rides. I ask each time what the count is...I try to guess the count based off what I either smell or feel from the water. I'm usually pretty close. The Beach never had the chlorine levels we did. Some days we will have to shut down an attraction for an hour to pump more chlorine in...usually the kids area...due to the chlorine 2 pee ratio being too close to the pee winning the battle of percentage....and a few times we will have to close a ride because it has TOO much chlorine.... You could have been there one of the few times a ride had too much chlorine and you are sensitive to it. I'm not..but some people are. Also..be sure to wear your sunglasses

Knoxville, First, let me say it could have been me that rejected you from riding Bondi. Second, let me say that it is a rule I hate enforcing but I do understand the reasoning behind it. Only three slides in the park...currently...enforce the no rivet rule. They are Bondi, Twist and DUT. Curiously, the double and single at the Kangaroo don't enforce the rules...but that's because it is a completely different kind of fiber glass and the speeds at which you travel are relatively slow. Now it can be argued that DUT is a slow slide now and the harddened fiberglass on it doesn't require a rivet enforcement..and I wouldn't argue with you there. However, on Bondi and Twist the rivet rule came out of necessity. The type of fiberglass used is very easy to cut with even plastic rivets...much less the large metal rivets found on 99% of my O'Neil and Quick Silver shorts. Once you have to stop dispatch and bandage some people up with cuts on their back or arms...and then shut down the slide...walk the slide...find the cut area...sand that down....meaning the slide is inoperable for atleast 24 hours..while the new resin drys and is sanded properly..and test rode until you are sure it won't cut anyone else....well you begin to believe in the no rivet rule on two of the slides...Bondi and Twist. Trust me..being a guy...the last thing I wanna do is check guys butts out all day looking for rivets and zippers. I agree it wasn't ever enforced in the past...and never strictly enforced in the beginning of the year...but a couple of incidences happened that made it a top priority and many meetings and buttchewings followed that made each one of us understand that we needed to enforce the rule to the fullest. That being said...man do I miss the water park being open..I could use the hot sunshine and the cold water right now:)

Speaking as a lifeguard that works CDBB...or 'worked'..since the season is now over. I feel the changes made this past year added greatly to the park. It was very much a success. The crowds most days were insane. I've never worked, or been to a water park...and I've been to quite a few....where hour waits were normal during peak times for some of the rides. Don't expect as much to be done this winter as was done last. About the bigest change this winter will be a loading platform for the Lazy River...maybe some Trex instead of wood on the older rides...like Snowy River Rampage, Sidney Sidewinder, and Down Under Thunder. DUT may get more than just new decking though....the water pressure has been falling the last couple of years and many people are complaining about getting stuck in the slides when they wear sticky suits...like basketball shorts or terrycloth shorts. As far as new rides. A water coaster is being thought about...but don't expect that until 2006. They need to get back some of the millions they spent this past winter first..before they can add more rides. Next year look for more cosmetic changes. filling in more of the dead areas....plants...signage...trees...and hopefully...a few more places to eat:)
