  1. Well I am off to PKI bright and early tomorrow morning. Thanks everyone for your help, and I look forward to my four days in the park. Cheers!
  2. I'm staying at the campground this coming week, and as far as I've heard from booking our site is the campground is open til the end of September. They don't think the campground will return in the current location next year, and do not know if a new location will be found or not. Just expect the current campground to close, and as of yet no replacement. Which is a real blow to some people who come from out of town, and like the cheap alternative of camping compared to the expensive summer prices of hotels.
  3. This thread definately took the wrong direction, not what I intended at all. Regardless of where it came from, whose opinion it is, whether it has a shred of truth or not, it's a rumour. Let's just have some fun, and enjoy the rumour mongering. Half the fun is trying to predict what will happen in the future. 95% of the time rumours are wrong, but it's still fun to discuss regardless.
  4. Yes it's nice being in College, however I am due back on September 1st, oh well one more year to go. Thanks for asking about the Eagles, I can't wait to get back in the tubs and get the cables snapping!
  5. I know, I remember reading all the info on PKIU before I went down for FearFest last year. I was one of the last public rides on The Beast on the Sunday night, as we left the crowd was organizing just outside The Beast queue area. We were going to wait and go up for another ride, but sensing we had a couple minutes, we left as my girlfriend wanted to pick up a souvinier from the front before the stores closed, so we made a run up to the front and then back. By the time we reached The Beast, the group had already made it's way up. We saw a park asscosiate right by the entranceand asked if we could join, and she then asked for our ACE cards, which we didn't own so we weren't allowed up. I still remember the posts saying it's not just for ACE members, but for Enthusiasts in general. I just assumed after we were shot down, it was more so worded as Enthusiasts of the ACE term.
  6. Just read the following on Screamscape. I don't think I've heard this rumour anywhere on PKIU yet, and it seems like a good idea for the Tique's. With some fresh theming, and some themed attractions around the track it would be a sure fire hit for kids and familes alike. It also hints that Nick Central may get a whole another area, and that could include more rides beyond the Tique's.
  7. Last year I had no problems with SOB, however earlier this summer it beat the hell out of me. The rosebowl was rough, but nothing that I can't put up with. The worst part for me, was the last hill just before brake run. Just as the train crests the top of the hill it slams up into the track, and destroys my back and neck. This year SOB is one of the only coasters that i've ridden, and looked FORWARD to when it stops. This ride could be incredible, and I am sure PKI is dedicated to making it great, but for the meantime I am not the biggest SOB fan.
  8. Its the enthusiast walkback now. Correct me if I am wrong, but are you saying anyone can attend the walkback now? I would love to take a walkback on my trip next week, I just don't want to look like an "bottom" when I am there and they ask for an ACE membership card. Just like the ACE final ride on The Beast last November. I have never been carded.
  9. Magic of the Movies is just horribly scripted, I've seen PCW's version as well as PKI's.. and they are EXACTLY the same. I expected some similarities, but down to every single cue and line.. Too much!
  10. That's awesome guys, I can't wait to come down. The limited operation doesn't bother me a whole lot, I'll be satisfied with what's available. Now I just hope the weather holds up, and it will be a great week to end off the summer.
  11. Ughhh my insides are still feeling the pain from Demon Drop. The initial drop is alright, but my god the upending motion...
  12. Thanks everyone, sounds like most of the schools will be back which is good news. Now does anyone have any clue about the status of the Eagles?
  13. I should of included this in my first post, but I read on Screamscape that the Tique's took their final ride last night. Does anyone know if the Flying Eagles are still operational, or have they closed as well. I REALLY hope the Scooters are open for next week, I've been waiting to snap all summer long since my last visit. It would definately be a letdown to not have them open.
  14. Since I live in Canada, I am sure that schools here and there go back at different times. What I am wondering, is when do most elementry, and high schools head back? I am planning on coming down to PKI for another five days during the week of August 23rd to the 27th which were initially closed but are now open to the public. I hope crowds will be down just due to the fact that many people won't know they are open, but also it could be remedied if schools are back. If anyone could help me out, it would be great. - I can't wait to come back, It will be my fourth trip to PKI. The first time I came down was the beginning of last summer of 2003 for a weekend. The second, was at the end of October for FearFest for a weekend. It was actually the last weekend of operation, had one of the last public rides on The Beast.. Then earlier this year I came down for five days, and camped in the campground. Such an awesome expierence to stay right next to the park, and be able to spend five full days in the park.
  15. I just wish that PCW had a FearFest. It's surprising that they haven't attempted to give it a try, I think it would be a hueg hit. Even Six Flags Darien Lake has a Halloween themed weekends, so I wouldn't buy the fact that the weather would interfere too much. Ahhh well, back to PKI again this year for FearFest.
  16. Correct, I meant there are rumours that PCW will add an Italian Job themed attraction as well. It's quite obvious that PKI will get one due to the great GR staff at the park, and the nice hints they have left.
  17. We'll know on Thursday. At this point anything I would say is just speculation, so I'll leave it at that. However, rumours are heavy that PCW will recieve an Italian Job attraction for next year. Whether it's the same kind at PKI, time will tell.
  18. Adventure Express is a great mine ride. I have ridden several different types of mine rides, and none of them come even close to AE. It's got some good speed mixed with great theming, the feeling of a runaway train is executed perfectly on this coaster. You're very lucky to have a ride like AE at PKI, it's not supposed to be a huge thrill ride just take it for what it is. Most importantly it's just a fun ride.
  19. The one you are thinking of there would be Slingshot. Skyflyer is located directly to the right of Drop Zone in the Action Zone. It's the pay per attraction with the huge arch, and raises the riders up to the top before they pull the rip cord and come screaming down. You most likely would of heard the "3-2-1... Fly!" while you were near Top Gun. When I was camping at the PKI campground earlier this year, I had to hear that 6-7 times an hour.
  20. Nice trip report, and I liked the little joke you played on the greeter. It would of only took up 10-15 seconds. Not like that it would of prevented any other guests from waiting until the conservation is over to ask their own question. Also, if you need a picture hosted just go to this site. You don't need to join, and you can host it right away. http://imageshack.us/index2.php
  21. The Canadian Travel channel doesn't have it on, arghh.. I found out about this earlier, and it iritates me that I can't watch it.
  22. Very good question, one I was wondering myself. Not only mechanical problems, but in general Intamin's safety record has been less then stellar with the incident on S:ROS. As well as the latest accident at Cedar Point with TTD. I know Six Flags are not the best managed parks, but I think they have to be smart enough to realize all the problems in terms of downtime with TTD. For them to try and break the record, with the same technology would be begging for a letdown. Both Xcelerator and Stormrunner the other two Rocket Coasters have been more dependable then TTD, so that leads me to believe that GAdv will go that route. Also unless Intamin has created a new type of launching method there is no way they can break the height record with the shorter track length. The one record they could possibly break is the speed record of TTD, with a longer then normal launch track, and then feature a smaller hill, and possibly have inversions like Stormrunner. Only time will tell, but this is definately exciting news for me. I can't wait for next summer.
  23. When I went to visit Cedar Point in May, the hotel was called the Great Bear Lodge. I read that since I visited they did change the name, to the Great Wolf Lodge to fit in with the rest of the hotels in the chain. I'll agree with Tanner, the one in Sandusky is huge. The structure looks incredible as it's like a huge log cabin. I wouldn't be against seeing one built in the Mason/Kings Island area, however I just don't like the idea of losing the campground for it. Besides not like the normal folk can afford a room anyway, I looked at rates on the one in Sandusky and it was over $200 a night!
  24. RCDB is listing the new coaster at SFGAdv as a Intamin Rocket Coaster. There are no specs listed on height, or what elements the coaster will feature. There are also a few pictures of the first pieces arriving on site. Here's the link.. http://www.rcdb.com/installationdetail2832.htm
  25. I stayed at the campground for a week in June and enjoyed my stay there immensely. I was hoping to do the same again next summer but the odds of a new campground being in place for next summer are low at this point I would guess. I talked to a representitive from the campground a few weeks ago, and he said that the campground would be closing at the end of the summer, I forget the month he said. When I asked if they are planning on being open next summer, he said that they arent taking reservations and believes the current site of the campground will be closed. He did not know whether they would have a new site or not. It's definately a letdown for people coming from out of town in the summer, the campground is the perfect place to stay as you are close to the park. Not too mention the money you can save, not only is it much cheaper then a hotel you don't have to pay for parking either. I really hope PKI can pull something together, and find a new site for the campground for next summer.
