  1. I have a tough time fitting in at 5'9" and 142lbs lol. My friend who's 6'3" is sometimes uncomfortable in The Vortex though.
  2. After the Crypt being completely devoid of sound effects, lighting, or anything, it worries me a bit. Twirling in a black box isn't that great. However, many people say KI started going downhill when Paramount took over, so the park may revert back to it's pre 1993 splendor people rave about. For example, on the train there used to by live shows for riders, and professional ice skaters used to do shows, and the food was delectable. Cedar Fair just may step KI up we just don't know.
  3. How do you know that it will indeed be a steel hypercoaster? Is it just an accurate statement as Cedar Fair's CP specializes in them or do the footers somehow tell?
  4. Well, I assume a B&M hyper coaster is being built, and KI severely needs a metal hyper coaster so I have no problem, however, it would be nice for them to put the water back in Swan Lake. They already removed enough water and scenary from Rivertown. From the Shawnee Landing(Canoe ride), to the entire Beast pond, to my favorite defunct water ride (can't you tell?), and now swan lake?? I agree with Browntggrr about the concept that if the new ride is awesome, people are quick to forgive. Might I ask Browntggrr.... Have you ridden The Crypt?? I just did. Let's just say as the ride stopped you could hear a pin drop from the gondola, followed by complaints.
  5. That was the response of my friends/our ride group lol!
  6. I didn't know music is going in. That will help! Maybe I caught it at the wrong time.
  7. Well, before I start, we hit the park at 6:00 JUST as the math-science kids were leaving. I heard they were coming and was scared to death, but seeing the busses loading was satisfying! Anyways, almost everything was station wait or walk-on! We rode SOB front car twice, then invertego (Walk on), then The Vortex, then the Crypt(walk-on), then The Beast at night!, then The Beastie (for memories, walk-on), then closed with sonnie at night! For the most part I was pleased with Cedar Fair. They seemed(at least while we were there) to have things under control very well and all rides (besides Backlot Stunt Coaster) were running. Paths and bathrooms were clean. I did see alot of puke being cleaned up The crew members were very friendly though! I look forward to my first day back on the job tomorrow! SOB and The Beast at night were awesome! However, here are my problems: Even though the lines were small, The Beast, and The Vortex were only running 2 trains The lines for those two rides went MUCH MUCH slower than expected. Sadly, SOB's line went faster than The Beast's! What the heck? SOB is notorious for being slow and only has 2 trains period. Why were only two trains being used and thus extending the wait?? My other huge complaint is the Crypt. I came in(walk-on) with high hopes. First, the theming in line was lame. Then when the ride started, we were literally just flipping around in a dark, silent warehouse. No lights, sound effects, mists, were being used. I enjoyed the program more with the quick flips, but with NOTHING to assist the ride, we were very disappointed. Why?? I shouted as the ride was ending, "Bring back the Kenton Cove Keelboats" and my friends laughed and agreed. So in summary Positives: Not crowded Friendly Rides Workers. Clean park (besides puke) All rides (besides BLSC) running Organized staff who seemed to care. Negatives: 2 Trains for Vortex/Beast?? Food Prices (but we ate before we came) The Crypt was terrible. Not a bad trip for 4 hours!! Do you guys have imput/know why they were running trains that way?
  8. Delorean, I went to the park today and I agree with everything you said but we thought the Crypt was a colossal flop! I liked the program better, but there was no lighting or sound on the ride whatsoever! It was literally like a ride titled "Spin for a few seconds inside a dark black silent building" Guests seemed displeased by it. It was also a walk-on. I know you worked Tomb Raider, and that the ride with all the theming and effects was VERY marketable, but in it's current state, I think people would much rather see KCKC, a massivle flowing water ride in RIVERTOWN, or another ride in it's place. Spinning in a dark, silent building just doesn't seem to do it. Maybe they should put in something more appealing. Don't you see a problem with what I explained about the Crypt? On the plus side, they took out the annoying upside down hang for some quick flips!
  9. Top Gun speaks the truth! We came at 6:00 to get in SOB line. The masses of kids were heading to the busses just as we came in what perfect timing! SOB, Invertigo, and all rides except Backlot Stunt Coaster were open and running! Station waits or walk-ons for most rides!
  10. I never thought about the fact that most people are tourists and average families who haven't grown up with KI like some of us have. Those were legit points, but someone like me (In the VAST minority) still misses those rides. But hey, I guess I would have too if I were park managment. I don't make them any money either. I don't buy food, don't play games, don't pay to get in, don't buy cheesy stuff, don't try to win plush toys, the list goes on!
  11. Now since you're history writer, can you tell me why they ripped out King Cobra, The Antique Cars, KCKC, and the Fast Tracks slides removed/downgraded? I mean, can't paramount relocate rides instead of adding new ones at the cost of an old one?
  12. Dang, I thought I knew my history backwards and forwards but I have Nothing on this guy! Wow!
  13. Dang, I'm sorry you had such a bad day. I hear you about the frustration over the rides and food prices. I am really frugal and have a death grip on my money. I know how hard it can be in the heat of the moment (I almost put this jerk on the ground the other day) but try to stay cool. I am 5'9" and 142lbs (Only 28th percentile despite all my routine strength training:( so I never had a problems slipping into a restraint. I am a nutrition freak and I know if your wife plays her cards right, she'll be on those rides in no time!! Good luck on your next visit!
  14. Thanks! Have you ridden the Wild Thornberrys? I think it's more like KCKC. Is this not the longest thread in existence... dang! Have you been on King Cobra? I have ridden KCKC but not King Cobra.
  15. Dang, this is one hell of a long topic! We go from KCKC, to food, to ripping on TR:TR, to arguements over who knows what, to dirty water, to other hydroflumes. If anyone wants to see a great clip of KCKC running or King Cobra check this link:
  16. So true. I haven't drank pop for years. Especially when they charge what, $4 a pop? I still eat in the car, or just bring Nature Valley Granola bars in my pocket, and get free water!
  17. Yeah, there are many things I'd love to come back, mainly the King Cobra which I never got to ride, the Zodiac, and Kenton's Cove Keelboat Canal. They never will though in this day and age Ohh, I never rode scrappy's slide (but have ridden the giant slides elsewhere) I have been on the boulder bumpers and every kiddy ride since I first came at age 3 lol.
  18. I'm including Defunct rides. Remember the first time you came to KI. Since that year, what rides (of course including current attractions) have you never ridden? I came in 92' for the first time. That being said, I never rode King Cobra, Flight Commander, the bungee thing (not slingshot but the one where your go up and down) or the Days of Thunder. What have you not ridden since your 1st visit?
  19. Does the jukebox bacon cheeseburger come with fries and a drink, or just the burger? A combo is a little more sensible.
  20. Hey guys! I heard from somebody that the food prices during their trip at whatever the new happy days diner is called was so pricy that they would only eat in the park again if they hit the lottery. Did food prices go up this year? Could some of you people who have been to the park in 08 tell us a little about your dining experiences? Do you think that food/attendance revenues could be harmed due to food prices?
  21. The only rides I do not ride at KI are the defunct ones because they were removed! lol
  22. Actually, the rules are to protect the slide from being scratched. I know this for a fact, that they worry if the slide gets scratched, that scratch will act like a razor on your soft skin slicing it right open at the high speed! (Remember how soft your skin gets after it is soaked that long lol)
  23. SOB was ABSURDLY rough when I rode on toward the middle-back. The blue train 1st seat is all I ever ride these days. We have conflicting views on both SOB and why KCKC was nicknamed "flop". Both make sense. Does anyone know for sure? I believe The Beast is not as rough as SOB due to lower speed. Also, I cope with the jerkieness by suspending myself in my seat and not leaning back/ect. I am really curious about the nickname though lol.
  24. And this from the same company that lit up the Flight of Fear queue. Not only is this a safety issue, it is a potential guest misbehavior issue. What will it take for them to realize this MUST be changed before someone gets seriously hurt of assaulted in ways not appropriate in a family park or runs into two young lovers doing things they shouldn't be? Lets here about the jukebox prices. How much did the meal cost?? Great trip report! Thanks for sharing!
  25. Wow, CoastersNSich sure seems to favor electrically powered rides! I did think the antique cars smelled horrible though. Does KI seriously have a cinnebon now??? What?!
