  1. So I know some people are upset KIC Survivor got canned for this year, so let's start getting back into the game mood here. It's March, and that means tournament season. I've decided to have a mini-game this season in celebration. I need your help to pick the brackets.

The brackets will be broken up into four sections; Action Zone / Oktoberfest, Coney Mall, Rivertown, and Nick / I-Street. To vote for attractions for the tournament, vote for 4 attractions in each section of the park. These could be rides, shows, restaurants, stores, any sort of attraction at the park.

Now of course, if the popular vote was the only thing about this, the top seeds would win every time and we'd have no upsets. Here's the kicker. I will select 4 "Super Delegates" to vote in the tournament. These people will not vote for seedings, but will vote in the actual tournament. They will be people who are experts at the four areas in question. Their votes in the actual tournament will be worth four times as much as other voters. In exchange for that power, they will be unable to vote for attractions in this first round of voting to get them into the tournament.

Here is how it would work...

Round 1: Selecting attractions and rankings. "Experts" do not vote. All other members submit votes for 4 attractions per area. Rankings are then chosen based on number of votes.

Round 2: Tournament. "Experts" vote, as well as all other members. Winner is chosen on results of a head to head vote against another attraction in the area. "Expert" votes are worth 4 points, while all other votes are worth 1.

    VOTING HAS BEGUN

Please post your four selections from EACH area. That means four from AZ / Oktoberfest, four from Coney, four from RvT, and four from Nick / I-Street. Post them in this topic.

The bracket will be released on Selection Sunday (this Sunday). Voting will be accepted until then, so make sure you get it in Saturday at the latest!

  2. As Cory said, yes. To be more specific, they either count the empty seats in each train via the operation console, or simply click in each rider with a handheld "clicker." A tally is taken at the end of each and every hour. Currently, I don't believe any rides at Kings Island utilize turnstiles for this purpose, though the Eiffel Tower used to do so.

I think Monster and Scrambler still use turnstiles but those are the old 2 I can think of.

Hey, come on now. Just because they are old doesn't mean they aren't AWESOME!

  3. For those interested in getting a job, from a 5 year veteran of that park, here is my unbiased opinion.

Do it. Sure, the pay may not be great. My current job has better pay and better hours, but I still miss the days I could work at the park. The people you meet there are great, and you seriously will have a blast. Yes, the hours will be long some days, and you will have run ins with some troublesome guests, but those will improve your work and people skills.

My experience with the park spans two departments, rides and entertainment. The rides department was my first experience in the working world, and in those four years I went from a lowly bar checker on Flight of Fear, needing to be told how to do everything, to a supervisor on the worlds longest wooden rollercoaster. The people who worked with me guided me along to becoming a leader.

My fifth year came with a change. Due to my school's co-op program, I was required to take a job during the summer that fit with my major. That ended my run in the rides department. That summer was quite possibly the most boring I had in a long time. Going from the fun and sometimes hectic (BAFFD anyone?) job of a ride operator to a bland 9-5 type office job was quite a jump, and I often found myself longing for a day at the park working.

Of course, that couldn't keep me away from KI. That fall, I returned to the park as one of the many monsters of the new Halloween Haunt. Once again, I had a blast. My body hated me for jumping and running while staying in character for hours on end, but I didn't care. The adrenaline of scaring those guests kept me going, and I loved every minute of it.

Again, the pay is on the lower side. The job itself more than makes up for the lower pay. I am still planning on returning to Haunt next year, for now my sixth year working at the park in a row. I have had five great years working there, giving my all for my job, and I couldn't have had a better time.

KIC, feel free to use snippets of this for your advertising job fairs or anything like that, haha.

  4. All I can say about them, is that I was the best snapper there ever was! :D

    Now, I don't mean to start a fight....OK yeah, maybe i do.

I've read about 4 or 5 different people who "CLAIM" to be the best "snapper" of all time.

    LOL

I know who the best snapper of all time. It wasn't me, but it was...

    OMG PUPPIES!!!!!

    *runs off after puppies*

  5. Or, having both franchises within the chain adds a little bit of variety and helps attract different markets. Does CF want people to choose CP over KI? Not anymore...they want them to visit both, so it helps to create some distinctions.

    Exactly what I was thinking.

And everyone might want to get used to Peanuts. What's going to happen when the Nick licensing runs out?

Oh, I don't know, they renew it?

  6. Zomg! Uncle Henry returns from his self proclaimed exile! Again.

I never left again after my little break. I just decide not to post nearly as much as I used to (which wasn't even that much recently).

I know not everyone is a fan of haunt, but if you don't like that sort of thing, why critique it? If you don't like that sort of event in the first place, why criticize something you don't like from the get go. That's like me trying to write a review of a rap album. I generally do not like any kind of rap, so who am I to say what a good rap album is, and what a bad rap album is. Same with some of the members on here. They come into this time of year not being a fan of Halloween events, so they just seem to bash it for whatever they can try to find. Who are they to say what a good Halloween event is, if they don't like Halloween events in general?

On that note, anyone have the full Soulja Boy album? I feel a review coming on...

  7. There was also a youtube video where the woman's head is bobbing. See about 2:52 in:

I do not see "bobbing" in that video. Think about when you see an animal eats another animal. Their head is moving! She was just ripping out the intestines with her teeth, which would take alot of work and head movement.

Also, that video makes it MUCH clearer that she is eating from the abdomen, not the private area at all.

A month after haunt closed, and some of you still can't quit whining about it. Get your minds out of the gutter. There was nothing sexual about that scene, it's you that's adding the sexual aspect to that scene.

  8. I came back to the forums because this is by far the most hilarious post ever.

Oh yes, Kinzel and Falfas killed Geauga Lake. Who cares if it was a failing park before they even got it. Let's all just blame them!

You have no idea how much I'm smiling right now. This post seriously made my day.

Oh, and I'm gone again. Back to the mystery known as a real life.

  9. Yeah, I hate cops too, they do nothing but make the world worse.

    Tool.

Well have you heard about the police problems in St. Louis? A cop was caught on tape abusing his powers, making up things to get the guy in trouble. When the guy started spreading the video around, the cop was put on temporary probation, but now he has more footage of cops spying on him and harassing him at his house.

Not saying all cops are corrupt, but don't say all cops are legit either. "All" is a word which should be used carefully.

  10. Cornstalkers, there was only three monsters workin it when we went through.

What time did you go through? There is never a time when only three people work Cornstalkers. I have never seen it with less than 6 monsters. Usually it's closer to 15-20. Some of the costumes are the same, so maybe you saw 2-3 people, and thought they were the same because of the same costume.

  11. ^ I have never been a pro-Paramount person, but, they did not "ruien" (dude, get spell check) the park.

They certainly took the park in a different direction from the previous owner, and sure, you can question many of their decisions, but they did not hurt the park.

And Beast1979, do you remember the pre-Paramount years?

Yes, I do. Everyone is entideled to there own opinion, and that is mine. The first couple of paromount years were great. But for some reason, making rides that advertise movies just doesn't fit with me. And, I don't care how I spell online.

    Beast1979

Proper spelling is asked for in the TOS for this website.
