I'm sure you're right, Beastfreak. Does anyone else remember how many people camped out under that "smoking tree" just outside of WW? Again, I have nothing against smokers. I used to smoke through my High School and college days. I just wish that some of these people weren't so bad about it. It kills it for everyone.

Wouldn't be the first time they've been wrong. (I do believe you, though)

For what it's worth, the ride system at PCW is not exactly top of the line. There have been so many complaints about the Zamperla "Volare" model, that the folks at Zamperla have actally been recieving a mild form of hate mail. I really would never expect PKI to install anything like this. From what I've been told, there many, many dissapointed and unsatisfied riders already.

This ride is very similar to FoF, without the building....for those who want to see the layout. If the link doesn't work, here is the address: http://rcdb.com/installationgallery528.htm?Picture=1 rcdb.com

The ride isn't lit too often. Since 1996, I've only had 3 rides, on two different days. If you really want a ride without the darkness, try to get there at opening.

I hate the fact that people smoke in the kids' areas. Keep it away from me there, and in line, and you're fine.

The only two places I ever eat at the park are Tucker's, and Wings. Every so often I'll stop at the Chinese place. Their portions are HUGE, and two of us can eat one entree. At Tucker's, I just stick with the cheeseburger, and sometimes the popcorn chicken. The place smells great when I'm riding the Eagles.

I was curious about these, too. It seems like the park is really into infrastructure improvements and fine tuning this year.

What's the funniest thing you've ever seen at Pki?

I have a large metal implant running down the back of my right hand, I've never set it off. Did he? -
As intrigued as I was Saturday with the lights on, I prefer the usual dark, with a few colored lights here and there.

Plus, you can REALLY take your time and take everything in. I can win at many of the games, I know when lines will be long...and I can appreciate rides that don't get appreciated by someone who only has a day or two to spend at the park. I can usually be found at the park either in the first 2 hours of the day, or the last two....or both.
-
Yes, but I should qualify myself by explaining that I don't spend 12+ hours on each visit. Usually I'm there for a few evening hours....and there are times I'd stop by early for a GP ride time. Again, I live pretty close... and with the pass, it's a pretty inexpensive entertainment alternative. When I lived in Pittsburgh, I would go to Kennywood 2-3 times per week. They have NO season pass program. That could get expensive! I also travel to other parks, mainly in Summer. I get season passes for all the chains. When I'm not away, you'll know where to find me.
-
Maybe, but I refuse to feel ashamed! I figure I get the season pass, live close by...and can stop by a few hours a few times a week, where is the harm? As an enthusiast...where else would I go? To the mall? A bar? No thanks...

I'm there more than is probably healthy. Last year, I was at PKI pretty much every day that I wasn't at another park; around 85 times. Including Dry Run, I've been there every day this season.

I got to the park around 9:30 on Saturday. I went to AZ, and got a ride on DZ. I was wearing just shorts, a T shirt, and sandals. I grabbed my windbreaker out of the car before heading in. After my DZ ride, I was soaked. I went back to the car to dry off a little, and went back in at 10. Still raining, so I took two spins on FoF...for both rides, the lights were on. I had a "lit" ride last season, but I rode front seat this time....It was amazing that there is so much coaster stuffed in that building! I saw the KC trains, and some other stuff just being stored beow the ride. After FoF, I walked back toward Eagles. There was 1 or 2 people on the ride, with no one waiting. For the first time ever, I walked past this ride! I was just too cold. I continued to walk toward TR:TR, but the line was already well past the cave, and I just didn't want to wait outside. Being cold and miserable, I just went home for a few hours. When I returned, there weren't many cars in the lot....but there were BUSSES. More than I'd ever seen there before. Those in cars must have left because of the rain....but those in busses stuck it out. I went back in, and headed straight for the Eagles. I got my 175th Scooter ride this season. (I count 'em. I'm a dork, sue me! ) The Beast had a pretty long wait, so we went to Racer, and the I met a friend who was there with her 1 year old. She was able to ride Beastie, Huck's Hot Rods, (do they still call 'em that?) and Yogi's Sky Tours. It was my first time on that ride. The views were actually kinda neat. I got my first carousel ride this season, and I'm always forced to appreciate how well this ride is maintained. There is so much history on this ride. After that, it was back to the Eagles, where I spent the last 45 minutes of the night....one cycle, I was the only rider. On my last ride, I snapped while watching the fireworks; and headed home. Sorry for piggy-backing your tr, PKI_man..

Good to see ya...and finally meet, Pat. You, Chuck, and Rob...along with me....really got those flyers goin'... good times. I was very happy with everything Friday. The Math and Science kids actually cleared out this year when they were supposed to. The Racer's new paint is looking good....and I was happy to see The Beast paw prints on the path from the Eiffel Tower, all the way back to the ride! I don't remember when they left, but they're now bigger and better than ever! Nice touch. I honestly think Friday was the best time I've had this season! Oh, and "Tiny," were you driving TG around 5 on Friday? If so, I think I saw ya. You were busy (obviously) or I would have said hi. Other than that, all was well. The park is finally hitting its stride, and everything was perfect. (at least for me)

Personally, if I don't see "crack," I really don't care. I just wish that if people are going to wear muscle shirts, or wifebeaters...that they at least consider wearing a little deodorant. Does anyone else run into the B.O. problem?

I saw something Sunday (5/16) that while not funny, was unusual. There was a guy boarding Beast. He put on his seatbelt, pulled down his lap bar, and then waited to be dispatched. The whole time, he was smoking! I've witnessed people smoking in line hundreds of times in the past 28 years, but this was a first for me. The guy checking bars was running down the train doing his job, checked the guy's restraints, and continued back. A couple of rows later, it hit him. He went back to the guy, and demanded he put it out. The guy was pi$$ed, and angrily put the cigarette on the train's running board. -
^^^I agree, and in the past few seasons, I've stopped by....or even mailed a letter, to sing the praises of an employee who was exceptional.
-
I remember this ride at KI, or at least a ride that was VERY similar. If memory serves me, there was a trough, in which small round boats travelled. There were scenes...but I don't remember what they were. Oh, it was in HB.
-
No problem! I keep checking every so often....you guys will be the first to know.
-
I couldn't imagine not having Top Gun. Many of us love that ride. It seems to have a good reliability factor, and it is still a relatively new ride. Also, the ride is kinda shoehorned in...with SoB so close. The park usually won't remove a coaster, until it becomes a maintenence problem anyway.
-
^^LOL. Remember, moderation is the key here. Just watch any video 4 times, and then put it away.
-
I'll be there. GP night is usually a lot of fun....the atmosphere is better somehow. I just hope the park can get the math and science people to leave when they're supposed to. It's not even close to a big deal, but it was funny last year listening to people using cells to bargain with parents for late night rides home.
