S&P Cuts SIX Rating Deeper Into Junk
violakat03 replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Man, 16 cents a share. I should invest. -
That was cool, seeing all the employee costumes, though I'm glad they don't look like that anymore! Also cool seeing the balloon release and fireworks.
-
My guess would be up I-Street till you get to the theater and then go through Nick U. That's the way I went to The Beast at the opening last year since the other walkway was closed. That is how we walked there during the tour, so I'd have to agree with you.

What an awesome video. I really enjoyed seeing the construction of The Racer (a very under appreciated ride now a days), Eiffel Tower, International Street, and everything else. How amazing.
-
Ryan said that Nick will not fade out, it will be up and gone. Although he also said that "There may or may not be a day that Nick is gone", so if that effects your judgement in any way...... Or as Terpy would say "It'll be there until it's not!"

I went to SFOG in 2006. It was absolutely amazing and I'd say totally worth the drive. Do not stay at the hotels that are on the same exit - I took this advice, luckily. Every time I go to Atlanta I stay at the Microtel next to the airport. It is a very clean hotel, seemed pretty safe, and is a very good price. I've stayed at it three times and had a great experience each time. I think it took 15 or 20 minutes to get to the park from that hotel. As for the park itself, park in the park's lot and just suck it up and pay the fee. You're likely to not have a car anymore if you use one of the shady lots. When you get there, if it's crowded, get a FlashPass, if it's not, don't bother. Definitely make sure you hit Goliath, Georgia Scorcher and Superman: Ultimate Flight. I rode everything there and those three were my favorites. Mindbender, Georgia Cyclone and Great American Scream Machine are great. The drive down isn't all that bad, but you may consider breaking it into two days and staying in TN one night. I don't know how long you'll have available for the trip though. If you take 75 down through Kentucky and Tennessee, it's a beautiful drive. Knoxville and Chattanooga are both nice cities for a pit stop. I can even recommend a hotel in Knoxville if you decide to stay there, I've been there many times through the year. I'd consider the possibility of waiting until next weekend (28th) and hitting SFOG and Dollywood in the same weekend. Or staying two days at SFOG. You can buy a second day ticket at the park for $15. That's what we did when we got rained out the first day of our trip, and the second day we got everything that we hadn't gotten the day before. Using the Flash Pass, we hit Goliath, Georgia Scorcher, Batman and Mindbender in 2 hours.

I have a twitter and a phone. I'll use them to keep track. If people get tired of my "first ride on Diamondback" "second ride on Diamondback" updates, they'll just have to quit following me.
-
I actually visited CP alone enough times to pay for my pass last year. 6 days at the park plus 6 days of parking = way more than $150. Not to mention the 13 visits to KI.

That's most likely what I'll do. I was hoping to be able to renew online with the discount, but since it looks like I'm going to have to renew in person, I will bring the coupon to ensure that I get the $10 discount no matter what.
-
Well, there's still no renewal price for the platinum pass (which is what I'd be renewing), so I think I will call prior to processing and find out whether I should bring my $10 off coupon or not.
-
I have only seen the email applying the renewal discount to 4 or more passes. It looks like the OP renewed his before 3/11 and is getting a rebate (a.k.a. refund) so that the price matches the discounted rate. I'm not certain this shows that the discount will be applied to all single renewal passes between now and 5/24. I will probably take my discount coupon from the entertainment book to processing, and if they offer the discount for renewal then I'll use that discount instead.

Deja Vu was the only ride we didn't ride on our trip in 06. We didn't get to it the first day and it was only running here and there on the second day. We decided that a combination of the fact it was having a lot of mechanical problems and the fact that a month prior, my husband had been in a car accident that totaled our car that we called 'Deja' (Deja VUE, get it?) we decided fate was telling us to avoid it.

3 1/2 hours for Tomb Raider: The Ride on opening day 2002. No one I'd talked to was really sure of what exactly the ride was and we all thought it was an enclosed roller coaster like FOF. Needless to say, I was highly disappointed and still have a vendetta against that ride. Second longest was 2 hours for Superman: Ultimate Flight at SFOG in 2006 and 2 hours for TTD in 2005.

how many trips to kings island will you take this year?

I did the same thing on one of my trips. Didn't stop in Findlay and by the time we found civilization again (Fremont) I was dancing! -

When I mapped it in July, Google Maps told me to take 70 to 71 in Columbus. I drag & dropped it over to 75 and it was a difference of like 2 minutes and it took me 75 to 224. Now, however, it's telling me to take exit 179 rather than 70 to 71 like it used to. It says 3 hrs 44 mins for 75-224, 3 hrs 36 mins for 70-71-250 and 3 hrs 26 mins via exit 179. I have no idea what direction my GPS would tell me to take but I know it always estimates the travel time horribly wrong. I've never taken more than 3 hours to get there. Did I mention my car has 250 hp? -

I used to be kind of the same way as your friend. It's like I'd be going north on 75 for so long that when I'd see that Findlay exit I'd be like, "Yes! Let's finally head west!" Little did I know that though it was nice to head in a different direction and get off the highway; I was making the trip last longer. My first few trips up to the Point I used to take route 4 all the way from Dayton. Ugh, what a horribly long and boring trip. I go 75 to 224 as well. Is there a shorter way? -

Easily 20 or more. This year I'm going to stop being afraid of going by myself and just go whenever I feel like it. I went 13 times last year, mostly during Haunt, and regretted not going more often earlier in the season. -
Somewhere in the mess that is my house, I've got an on-ride photo from AE also. I always forget that you're younger than me. In 1997 I was 12 and the year before I had ridden every coaster in the park starting with FOF.

I've discovered a lot of enthusiasts have opinions I don't share. I loved Superman. I thought it was the coolest and most innovative ride I've ridden. I thought it was smooth as glass and much more comfortable than Firehawk. But, being that everyone has a different opinion and different experience (I was totally unimpressed with Maverick, for instance), I hope you are able to return to the park again and ride it. Ninja, you're probably better off without. Imagine the most violent parts of SoB and Vortex, combined into one tangle of metal, and you'll have Ninja.

I had a dream the other day that I got on Diamondback and it was suddenly a Vekoma Flying Dutchman. We got to the top of the hill and it flipped us over to flying position like Firehawk, and I looked over at my seatmate and said "when did they change to this?!" And then it was a similar track layout to the real thing but way shorter height and under the track and really not all that exciting. I woke up disappointed and went THANK GOODNESS that was a dream!!

Being that SFOG is the only Six Flags park I've been to, you can see how I don't have a negative impression of the chain. I found the park to be picturesque and clean, and the staff friendly and enthusiastic. That will probably change this summer as the two that are easiest for me to visit are SFA and SFKK, which are reported to be the two worst in the chain.
-
Gator you're right. I forgot you went straight where you now turn right. The effects weren't all working by the time I first rode Top Gun in 1996. I don't remember the water and windshield wiper.

To the OP - I just found a discount that doesn't require a group buy. If you or someone you know has a 2009 entertainment book, there is a coupon at the end of the travel section for $10 off up to 6 platinum passes. I'm going to use that to buy mine and my husband's I think. That way you don't have to have 4 people all together, you can just buy yours and get $10 off.
