  1. First time I rode The Beast (95 I believe) - I also believe they had foot prints then, but perhaps not. My wife and I were standing in a huge line, way out of the queue and into the park proper. Some late teens in front of us were eating ice cream cones, for one of them the ice cream fell out and hit the asphalt. It was a HOT day, the ice cream was already soft, and the kid picks it up and starts eating it. Thinking of thousands of shoes, the somehat sticky asphalt, ewwww!!!!! I rode The Racer backwards back then, I wasn't impressed, it just seemed to hurt if memory serves. It was awhile ago, and did NOT hurt anything like King Cobra did. This past year we returned to KI - The Racer ended up being one of my favorite rides - the front seat was great. Of course I'm a sucker for Gemini too!!!
  2. October 11, perhaps? I remember you said in my PTR that you saw me on the train in the MF station sometime that weekend. The lines that day were downright ridiculous.. Milly's line was out of the queue almost to the lockers, TTD's line was out of the queue past the grandstand, and Maverick's line was wrapped around the queue and backed up to Chick-Fil-A. I wasn't sure I was going to make it out of CP alive. October 11 was BooBuzz - and from what I've been told it was *the* busiest day of the year - Heck, we waited in line 45 minutes, maybe more, just for Corkscrew because we had time to kill before the meal. After 10am, my brother only got on 5 rides that day - Wicked Twister was like a 2 hour wait. I saw you on MF Nov 2nd, when there was no line, the gates were open, we were waiting for the next car and I saw you go by especially with the KI sweatshirt I figured it was you (and I was right) - then we had to skidaddle over the final ride of the season line so my kiddos could ride. <sniff> ya know, I really hate Winter!
  3. Hello all, I knew Cedar Point had an option but didn't use it until the last day of the season. The parent swap worked great, we got a card at guest relations, the rest of our party rode TTD, I and my shorter than 52" son rode a couple other rides, met our party at the exit, my daughter got back on with me at the exit, and I got to ride - my son then stayed with the rest of the party. Does KI have a similar policy? I didn't see anything on the website but doesn't mean it's not there. I belive my son will be able to ride 52" this year but KI has quite a few 54" -especially the new Diamondback. Thanks!
  4. I'm torn - I really like the idea of the auction, helping others is always great. Yet I'd have to bid for two seats, for myself and my daughter, and leave my son out because we're hoping he'll be fine for 52" rides, but unless he has a sudden growth spurt - he won't make the 54". There is a fairness thing. I'm also assuming the park will be very busy on the 18th - winning the auction would help for DB, but long waits everywhere else (again, an assumption). I may wait for the following weekend or Ride Warriror weekend.
  5. Somehow I missed this post. THANKS!!!!!!!! I think you just solved my problem I don't know all the clubs out there - we became addicted 'enthusiasts' last year. We ended up joining CoasterBuzz, it is $20 for the first member in a family, then $5 for each after. They are valid for RWWeekend, Coastermania, Holiwood Nights, and had the BooBuzz event at CP which was pretty nice last year (I got 9 rides during ERT on Maverick - and it ended up being the busiest day of the year). I am hoping to join ACE this year.
  6. Is the gate discounted? I know there were some specials at different parks at different times, but at CP, they raised the Sr. day price from $15 to $20 during the '08 season. I was fully agreeing on food, we packed some, ate occaisonaly, but griped abut the food, and how if they lowered the price they'd sell so much more. Yet, as we kept going more and more through the Fall I started noticing the Food lines (this is in reference to CPoint), as we were leaving late on some Fri or Sat. nights, the food lines were 30 deep! If you're getting ready to leave, why would you buy such overpriced food, drive a mile or two and you can choose any fast food you want. Yet people were willingly pay extreme amounts for the food. I think we'll see much bigger attendance at KI and WoF, brand new exciting coasters, just like CanWonderland last year, great for advertising, people will want the experience.
  7. I agree, it seemed pretty leading - even my missing the wood part, but that even cinched it more. The lady who answered was from Ft. Wayne, IN
  8. Think about it, instead of getting in a few minutes early you get a whole hour, AND, most people will be heading for Diamondback, it's new, it's exciting - and if anything like Behemoth - tons of air time! - so traffic on The Beast (or that day's designated co-ride) will presumably be light. With CP hour early ERT a huge line forms on Maverick pretty quickly (thus the running of the bulls), on some of the other rides - not so much.
  9. Was it? I'm an idiot if I missed that, I really didn't catch that in the 'answer'.
  10. I was just watching Jeopardy, one of the categories was Theme Parks, the Final question (paraphrased) was "In Cinncinati, Kings Island's The Beast is the World's Longest what?" The lady who answered said Roller Coaster - she was given credit as right. I did end up losing full TV control as the channel got flipped on commercials, but I never heard a score correction / answer correction. Though I was proud of my kiddies, they gave the right answer!
  11. If I'm understanding this accurately - being a Platinum Pass Holder will get you in early every day for the ERT so belonging to a club becomes a moot point for most KI enthusiasts (please correct me if I'm wrong). I joined Coaster Buzz last year, mainly selfishly for Boo Buzz which gave us an ERT hour on Maverick (I got 9 rides within an hour - my daughter got 11), however it's an affordable club and the membership appears to work for things like this, Coastermania and benefits like at Holiday World. I saw that Coaster Fanatics also has a club you can join. Someone official will need to judge on what counts for KI or not.
  12. I was/am disappointed, we were planning to go down with another family and make a weekend of it, it would work out well because that Friday is still part of Easter break. We haven't huddled yet, but now the plan probaby will be to join you. We may not make much/any of Friday night time, but we should have all day Saturday, and in this case, a few hours Sunday morning before the trip back to Toledo. For those who KI is your local park, be happy, us near CP have an additional month to wait!!!!!
  13. In longer lines, the ones that have the vending machines, if someone stops to buy a pop or candy bar, I have no problem letting them back with their party. Technically that is line jumping, but I always figure their party could've been jerks and stood there holding everyone up. I got a couple chances to speak up this past season, but for the most part I saw very little line jumping. Perhaps I was just fortunate??
  14. Me Too - though I already have my Platinum Pass.
  15. Where is Don's Blog at? I looked all over Visitki and could not find it. I'm still hopeful on the 17th - but sometimes plans change.
  16. And presumably we would be able to get in a 9am - at least to ride Behemoth. Would Beast be open early also or do we know. I've read about ACE members getting to walk back and do The Beast. Do we know if Coney Island will be open then??
  17. Any word on this? I was in process of booking a couple nights for the 17th and 18th but some sites/places require pre-payment (well you lose some money if you cancel). Any reason we shouldn't believe this is a done deal??
  18. I am far from an expert but as a fellow CP Platinum Pass holder I made it in July of last year. I didn't get to ride everything but found the park very enjoyable. The big thing they were missing (IMO) was a good air time coaster - which is being corrected with DBack. Assuming it rides similar to Behemoth expect loads of air time! My advise is really to do everything, ride all the coasters so you can check them off your list (I still have SOB and Firehawk yet to ride). Definitely ride the Crypt, that is something we don't have at CP. Everyone will have their own opinions on each coaster or ride, you'll compare and make your own decisions - and if you're like me some of those may change over time. I didn't like Blue Streak at all initially, but now a visit to CP isn't complete without riding it at least once. I found Racer being one of my favorites (someone mentioned re-rides? Did I miss something?) The water park area is great if you like that, it is definitely better than Soak City! I haven't done it yet, they have a challenge Park type ride called Slingshot which looks pretty intense. Just hope the park doesn't lose power on a day that you are there!!!
  19. This has also been confirmed in a podcast interviewing Don Helbig. I think we can see Beast open for sure. Where can one find this Podcast?
