    New Coaster?

With the FH capacity they really do need restrooms back there. I always like to go before getting into that queue, but it takes some planning ahead to remember to do so before you get to X-base, or take the hike if already back there. Maybe they can add a restroom with the contingency money for this "rumored" new ride.
  2. Correct me if I am wrong, but I was also thinking the angle they placed the seats on the trains may have some significant impact on this as well?
  3. Hey, it was to the left and it is not like I made it up, there is something there, looked like a boat as I did not get a good look. Hence the reason for the topic to help explain what I saw!
  4. I have not, maybe I am not watching the correct channel at the correct time?
  5. Those parks that number their flags barely made it to the top 20. I hope that have a better strategy this year, although I have not really seen much advertising from any park except HW and KI in the Indy market.
  6. Which is precisely why I intend to make my own. Sounds like a perfectly great idea to me. I've always wanted to make the basic outline of a car from The Beast or something into the coolest bed frame ever. Mine will have to withstand a little more force than the above, and definitely have good upstop wheels. I will put the trims on order for you! I could not resist!
  7. I probably don't have to mention what I think of trims - see signature - and I wish that all of them were gone. Personally, I don't think it's too much to ask that the coasters be as much fun as they were designed for. Beast's brakes are perhaps the worst, but what about Diamondback, Backlot, Vortex, Flight of Fear, RACER, Beastie, Son of Beast, Magnum, Maverick, Gemini, Mean Streak, Mantis, Raptor, High Roller, Excaliber, Wild Thing...and all of those are just at 3 Cedar Fair parks. I can't think of a single one of them that wouldn't run safely without the trims. Many of them didn't open with trims, either, and are just plain neglected and forgotten about - High Roller the worst example. This could be a top ten coaster for me. Giga - You're my HERO! Holiday World's coasters are all proof that you can let your coasters move, if you choose. Cedar Fair does not! So, who thinks the trim comments will stop from me?? Anyone? That's what I thought. Flyer, who wants to fly free of trims! You guys crack me up. You are starting to rub off on me. I never paid much attention to them before joining this site besides going "Hey, why is there a brake on the drop of The Beast?" Now my experience on a coaster is much different by feeling how the ride handles and "brakes" in certain areas. For that, I thank everyone here for changing how I ride a coaster and understand much better why I can get different rides on the same ride! I agree Giga, ridding The Beast Monday morning was fun, but not as fun as it used to be. It was much better in the afternoon. Trims should only be applied if the train is over a certain MPH, and only applied enough to slow it down to a desired MPH to make the ride a consistent speed. I am sure that is what they are going for, but that was not what I experienced on my last visit.
  8. Looks like you had as much fun as me on Monday. Nice TR!
  9. No, definitely was not a truck unless they are making them of what looked like wood boats now. Could it be part of the automaker cutbacks?
  10. Oh, ok so that is not a MCBR. Thanks! Here I thought I was talking intelligently for once till I read this! People are all the time asking why the train goes so slow up the lift and then sometimes stops before going again (I had a complete stop happen this week on the 1st lift.) I figured out a long time ago by observation that the train ahead of us has to clear the 2nd lift. I guess people don't pay attention to those things like us?
  11. Loved your slide show! Thanks!
  12. Got a few while at the park yesterday. "The new Diamondback ride is just like Top Gun." I was thinking, what? - Okay they got us, they are both steel. First time riders on DB were behind me in DB queue. One goes "This is a really short ride," as they looked at the first hill, the returning helix, and splashdown. I turned around and said no this is one of the longer riders in the park, you just can not see the rest of it. Guests were happy. Saw them later in the park and asked them how they like it and they said they loved it. I did not want to be quoted on here by saying it was the 3rd or 4th longest for I am not totally sure. Anyone know the answer?
  13. While on my rides on The Beast I happened to look over to the left during my almost complete stop at the MCBR and saw this red object that resembled a cut ot of a boat. It had red on it, but by the time I tired to focus on what it was and why it was there we were off again. Anyone else seen this?
  14. I usually down a few asprin before going into the park. Although, my stomach is never the issue, just the banging around.
  15. Ride op on SOB yesterday was from differnt ride. He kept telling the riders to exit to the left, although it was the right.
  16. Yes, and I was able to pace myself over the day since it was not busy. Wish you could have been there! The only bad part of the trip was no KICers to hang with.
  17. I think I saw you over by The Beast. I saw your shirt that said HTCO and took me a second to remember why that looked familiar. By the time I realized who it was, I did not want to scream accross the park at you!
  18. Left the house right at 6:30. I was not sure how the traffic would be between here and KI and did not want to miss ERT so I gave myself lots of extra time. (Plus I needed to stop at Wal*Mark for some croakies that Terpy recommended.) Stopped in Shelbyville around 7am to their Wal*Mart to get my croakies. Found a black pair in the eyeglass section. It was closed, but could reach the rack with them on it. I then stopped at the in store McDonalds for some breakfast before taking off again. Pulled into KI parking lot at 8:37 am, I was the 5th car in the gold pass lot!! Was not sure what I was going to do for any hour, but walked on up to the metal detectors. Everyone was getting into lines. Once the security officers came out to the detectors the small crowd that was there separated into the lines where they were stationed. It was 9:15 and they had not opened the gates. Finally at 9:20 we got to go in. Of course I got in the line that had a buck of back packs and purses to search and took forever. The Gold Pass ERT was already open and I was on my way to DB. I was excited for I wanted to get 3 rides in during ERT to get my ride count to 30. By 9:48 am I had gotten in my 3. I never got out of my seat for all 3 rides. The trims and MCBR seem to be worn in a little bit better now for they were not as harsh as they were on RWW. Very nice rides! I headed for The Beast for ERT there. I also got 3 rides in on the same train and never got off. I think I was the only enthusiast there for I was the only one excited to ride. The ride op said she liked it when I rode, for I was the only one cheering when she asked. I took 2 back seat rides (Can’t remember the # of Cars) and then a 2-1 ride. Between it being that early and only having an average of 5 people on the trains, it made it go really slow. The trims were almost bringing it to a complete stop and it did on the MCBR. I agree with Sparky that it was running 10 to 15 MPH’s slower than it seemed before. At this time the running of the bulls had happened and so more of the rides were open. I made my way around the park by hitting BLSC, then Vortex, then off to FH. Can you believe that FW was walk on!!!! I had my first wait of the day as I got into the queue for FOF. I waited about 10 minutes to ride it, ridiculous. HA! I headed to Blue Racer and got 2 rides on that. There were about 3 maintenance men working on the red train track at the start of the second hill. There was like 3 of them so it looked serious. The sun finally came out and was starting to warm up. We had missed a storm earlier that morning so things were looking better. Headed to Delirium had about a 12 minute wait there. I then headed towards Congo Falls to cool off. I got about 40% wet in the front, it felt nice to cool off a little. I ran into Don with the new crew he mentioned on twitter yesterday. Asked him when he planned on hitting his 12,000th ride on Racer. He said he did not know for he had not even been on the ride this season. I looked at him in shock and said “Really!” I was getting hungry so I headed to Rivertown Junction for the buffet. I stopped at several placed and realized for a dollar or 2 more I could have a buffet. They had a nice collection of deserts and I had some really good cheese cake. After eating I headed to DB, it does not upset my stomach to ride after eating, plus I was right there. How could I resist jumping into that queue? Three more rides on DB with the last one being 1-1. I am not usually not a big 1-1 fan, but it is really cool on DB. Don’t plan on seeing the track in 1-1 if you are going down a hill, sort of freakish. I got my 35th ride on DB in this time. I then headed to The Beast for two more rides on him. I was talking to the same ride op again and she said there was a couple from Germany in the ahead of me. She was not sure if KI was the reason for her visit, but still really cool. I thought my 2 hr driver was long that morning! I then headed back to DB for one more ride before heading to Action Zone. I went straight to Congo Falls for a wet ride to cool off. I did not really get that wet, so I stood on the bridge and got soaked. It felt really nice, I then headed to SOB. Rode the Blue train. After getting on a ride op asked if ther was anyone in the seat next to me and I said no. he asked if he could ride with me. They were taking rides since it was not to busy. At the end of the ride while waiting to come onto the station he said that he thought the red train was much more rough than the blue train. Went to FD and ride it 2 times, since I made the 2 mile hike I wanted to get a few rides in. Headed towards The Racer, but stopped at AE first. I then rode Racer two times. Blue train was the only one running still. I headed back to The Beast for one last ride. Beast was running much better now. We had picked up at least 10 MPH’s of speed from the morning. We were no longer coming to a complete stop on the MCBR and trims were much better? Still a little confused for I did not think that weight had that much influence on the speed, but it was warmer. I then headed back to DB to finish my day. I wanted to hit the 40 mark before I went home. It was a few minutes after 5 and was wanting to leave around 6 pm for my 2 hour drive back to Indy. I was at 36 rides and needed 4 more. One of those 4 was another 1-1 ride. Awesome! I got my 40th ride in right at 6pm. I then headed towards the front gate. I went by SDATHC and thought of Keiko_Coaster. I hope she is feeling better! Also on my way out I say a KI security walking with a Mason Sherriff on patrol in the park. So that confirms for me that they do hire Mason PD in the park. 1 - AE 1- BLSC 13 - DB 6 - Beast 2 - Congo Falls 1 - Delirum 1 - FD 1 - FH 1 - FOF 4 - Racer 1 - SOB 1 - Vortex 33 Rides Total
  19. Don just posted this link on Twitter. Seems like a cool site, but I have not submitted anything yet. http://www.ridewarriornation.com/
  20. It sounds like no one was seriously injured. Thank goodness for that!
  21. The drop on DB is 230 ft. Close but no Cigar.. (This was not Captain Nemo.) Do they not have the stats posted in the control booth?
  22. Please see signature for updates. Added 13 today to make my total of 40 as of today.
  23. What day of the week are you going? If it is a Saturday, you will need at least 2 days!
  24. Very nice pic. I am not much of a picture person, so anyone who can take a cool pic has my respect! Congrats on the win!
  25. I think adding some ERT on the Friday evening as well would be nice to as Robbie stated.
