Although it's not my favorite, I happen to enjoy Time Warp. It doesn't put as much pressure on your ankles as does Firehawk. That aside, be sure to go on Sledgehammer if it's open! The only ride I would stray away from is Nightmare. That is the only ride I've ever felt "sick" after exiting. Before going on Riptide (their topspin ride), if you don't want to get wet, watch to see how high they are shooting the fountains. And I would be remissed not to mention my favorite ride there - the Mighty Canadian Minebuster! If you are there at night, be sure to go on it. Although nothing will compare to Beast at night (IMO) this one is pretty exciting when the sun goes down. You should have a great time. I'm hoping to get there sometime this season!

Was it just me or was his route through the park completely nonsensical? I realize that, for dramatic effect, they wanted Dragster to be last, but if one was concerned about beating the clock they would have probably taken a more efficient route (i.e, Wicked, Millenium, Dragster, Magnum or some combination thereof). Other than that, I also thought his expressions were a bit exaggerated, but nonetheless I liked the show! Now Leah and I want to get one of those shirts (even though they probably only made one for the show lol)!

Cedar Point 2010 Changes
count_of_tuscany replied to countess_of_tuscany's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Leah and I were getting on the back train in the station when the "problem" occurred. Apparently one of the sensors on the train to indicate that the lap bar was down far enough wasn't working and it wouldn't allow them to dispatch the train. To try fixing the problem, they had every guy get off the train, one by one, to see if they were the problem. I was the first one up (don't know if you saw me, Terpy), but I indicated that I didn't think I was that large. They finally called maintenance, who had then operated the trains in "manual" mode in order to take that train off the main track so they could work on it. Sorry you were stuck there so long. -
And of course with the song comes the infamous urban legend of a scream heard midway throughout being someone killed or hurt and the recording equipment picking up the sound of their shriek...

Beast1979's Opening Day Photo Trip Report
count_of_tuscany replied to Beast1979's topic in Trip Reports
I may completely off base, but does expression this have anything to do with the movie The Room? If not, you should watch it, as it may take on a completely different meaning afterwards! Leah and my friend Mark and I (who will be at KI this weekend!) will be saying "Oh hi..." to many different people and things. Again, before you start thinking I'm crazy, watch The Room! It's one of the worst movies ever made, but it has managed to accumulate a massive cult following due to its terribleness! -
I just wear a fanny pack! It's incredibly convenient! Plus, I usually have to carry a bunch of Leah's stuff, as her pants normally don't have any pockets

Weather or not we will be heading down this weekend. Heck, we even went down there for the "Thursday" Halloween Haunt that never took place. That was a bummer - driving 4.5 hours to hear "Sorry folks, park's closed!" I wish there had been a moose there at the time! We ended up going across the street to watch "Zombieland" so it all worked out in the end. Plus we had Fri, Sat, and part of Sunday.

Thanks!

I guess this would be the appropriate topic in which to post my question. This coming weekend Leah (countess_of_tuscany) and I are going to KI and we're meeting a friend there from Fort Knox. We both have platinum passes but he does not. My question is, where is the best place to get a ticket for our friend? By "best", of course, I mean cheapest. Do they offer military discounts at the park? He will need a ticket for both Friday and Saturday or just Saturday, depending on when he can meet us. And, yes, I realize the park opens at 5 on Friday. Your responses are appreciated! I can't wait for Friday!

Perhaps it was my youth that made the ride stand out for me, or the fact that my ridemates (i.e., my parents lol) always made the ride scarier by adding their own unexpected screams and grabs during the ride, but I thoroughly enjoyed Pirate Ride up until it closed, especially the rooms with the big octopus and the guy getting hanged (or hung, whichever tense is more proper). I was devastated when it closed. As long as the building remains standing I'll at least have some physical reminder of it!

I miss The Pirate Ride at Cedar Point over any other ride (even more than Phantom Theatre!).

You've all got me salivating over here at work and I've already eaten lunch! We won't be to KI on opening weekend, but the following weekend, we will definitely be enjoying Blue Ice Cream!

Cedar Point's online blog posted a similar comment just about an hour or so ago: Good morning, friends. It is with very heavy hearts that we announce that the OnPoint blog will no longer continue after today. The two of us have decided to focus on our core responsibilities at the park and can no longer keep the commitment to do regular updates. To those who've been following us from the beginning, we thank you. Keep an eye on Shoot the Rapids construction updates in the ride's photo gallery. Again, thank you, and Ride On. http://www.cedarpoin.../blog/index.cfm I'm assuming this is an April Fool's gag. Perhaps they've coordinated efforts... If it's for real, I'm glad they kept it up while they did. If it's fake,

^ YES! That's the one! It freaked me out at the time. I'd love to ride it now! Thanks for the reply!

I had the opportunity to ride Phantom Theatre way back when I was a little kid and I loved it. Years later I enjoyed Scooby Doo and I'm sure I'll enjoy this new encarnation, but nothing will ever beat (to me) Phantom Theatre (btw, I'm a huge Phantom of the Opera fan). A question for those who are familar with KI's history - when I went there as a kid they had the ride where you got your own "airplane" and it went up a tower and spun around and you had control of the plane and could roll it. Was that Flight Commander? After that the next time I went to KI was 2007, so a lot had changed! I was devastated that Phantom Theatre was not the same! Prior to going to KI that first time in a long time I hadn't done any research on the park, so I didn't know what to expect! But now I love it!

yellow-jacket invasion at KI - common?

Indeed! You know, I tried doing standup once... but I got tired and had to sit down! -
yellow-jacket invasion at KI - common?

Inside the Nick U gift shop two years ago during Haunt I saw a SpongeBob beach towel that interested me. It was located near one of the side entrances. I couldn't see a price tag on the towel, so I was lifting up on the corner of the towel to see if it was hidden in one of the folds and suddenly felt a sharp pain. I then saw a yellow jacket fly out from the towel and leave the store. I never did find the price, but nonetheless, I did not purchase the towel! -
I'll definitely be seeing them this summer! I've been a fan for years (not just a Guitar Hero tag-a-long). I've got Petrucci's signature guitar. If you go to the website URL from my profile that's it in the recording (as well as Portnoy's signature sticks on the drums lol). We went to Toronto to see them last summer cause they weren't playing Detroit - we'...

Bugs in our Teeth: Official # of Bugs Swallowed
count_of_tuscany replied to alluna's topic in Kings Island
I think the worst case for me was on Iron Dragon at CP where a bug actually flew into my eye and got lodged in the corner. It was right after the second lift hill and made the rest of the ride rather uncomfortable as I couldn't really dig for it through the twists and turns! -
Although I love Maverick, Beast is my favorite of all time! Justin, awesome avatar!

Whats the funniest rumor youv'e ever heard?
count_of_tuscany replied to DropZone99's topic in Rumors
Yes, that was hilarious! I think he even tried telling people who came in line after him about what happened! We didn't have the heart to tell him about the "optical illusion" so we just let it play out! I know I'm not the first to mention this, but a funny rumor nowadays is that The Crypt is a thrill ride! -
OFFICIAL! Son of Beast Will NOT Operate in 2010
count_of_tuscany replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
I might as well chime in here... just my thoughts. Kings Island isn't my home park (CP is), but I love it and I did have the opportunity to ride SOB several times during the last two seasons. I'm used to Mean Streak, which I think (at least my body thinks) is rougher. I actually really like SOB and I am saddened that it will not be open this season, but I hope there is an operational future for the ride! -
Having never been on it when its effects were fully operational, I would like to see it as it once was. But no matter what they do, if anything, as long as the guys in the final lift hill keep pounding their fists I'll be happy! Additionally, I love the anti-climatic ending! The Countess and I have fooled several people that we have taken to KI, saying that Adventure Express has the best ending out of any coaster ever and when we get into that tunnel we tell them to wait for it... wait for it... oh... The reactions are priceless! But I do love AE!
