This doesn't really help with KI footage, but if you'd want to experience something similar to watching a live show while riding the train, Silver Dollar City still has a skit on their train ride. Oh how I wish I could have visited the park back then! The actors on the Frisco Silver Dollar Line Steam Train:

New at Holiday World for 2012
KICoasterGirl replied to Colonel_SoB_fan's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
One other thing to remember. Will Koch was the coaster lover. Dan has said that he only rides Voyage once a season and I don't know if Pat ever has. I think this is why they did a survey at HWN asking the enthusiast what they would like to see. When the price tag was announced, I honestly expected it to be a small steel coaster like a Euro-Fighter or a Spinning Coaster. Another water coaster never entered my mind since they just added Wildebeest. Now that Mammoth has been announced I feel they need to hit it out of the park with their 2013 project. Holiday World also seems to love breaking records. I don't see them putting in a TTD/KA clone as those are Intamin rides and I have been told by a former nun that the park would never work with Intamin again. That leaves B&M as the other coaster designer that could break records. I don't see Mack, Gerstlaur or any of the other smaller players breaking any records. What I don't know is if HW has the deep pockets for a record breaking B&M. (edit) this post is by DaveStroem, seems that my daughter forgot to logout on my computer again. -

New at Holiday World for 2012

Some points from various HW&SS posts Woozy Big New Chapter $9 Million "Yes, it's true. This will be the most we've ever invested in a single ride project. Huge. #HW" This makes me think it will be in the dry park and that it will probably be more then a flat ride. While I don't have any clue as to how much flat rides cost, I don't see them being this expensive. I could really see a Gerstlaur spinning coaster. Only thing holding that idea back is there is one at SFStL. I don't know if they would put one of those in so close to one of their competitors. -
Longest/Worst walk-around?
KICoasterGirl replied to icedripper's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
All the ones mentioned above are just a short walk in the park compared to The Boss at SFStL and American Eagle at SFGAm. What is worse, it is just as far to get off these rides as it was to get on them. -

Thanks for the TPR. I have not been to BGA since 1980 so I think it is time to go back. We are just starting to plan our 2012 spring break trip to Florida. So far it looks like our spring break falls on a different week then most all of Florida and even Atlanta. Hopefully the crowds won't be horrendous. EDIT: OPPS, it seems that my daughter didn't log off on my computer. If she had been to BGA in 1980 she would need a time machine. -
Totally agree!!!!!

I was just looking at that last night! King's Dominion's and California Great America's aren't updated either. -
I really like B&M Inverts and would love to get one at KI. - Afterburn- I love this ride, it has lots of elements that I like as well as some nice speed. - Raptor- The helix is the best part of this coaster as well as the layout, in my opinion. - Alpengeist- I like the part near the end with the "snow' on the ground that you are soaring over. - Batman the Ride at SFOG- I like this Batman the best. It's new color scheme is also very pretty. - Talon- This ride is a bit drawn out in some parts connecting the elements but is still a good ride. - Patriot- I like the color scheme of this coaster very much, but the ride itself is not as good as some of the others, in my opinion. - Great Bear- I like the Immelmann and the part that goes across the lake the best on this ride. - Batman the Ride at SFGAdv These last three are fun rides that can pull some major G-forces...some of which have caused me to gray out a bit. - Batman the Ride at SFGAm - Batman the Ride at SFSL

Favorite Disney Park: U.S. Only
KICoasterGirl replied to coaster_junky's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I absolutely love Epcot! I want to travel the world when I'm older especially to Europe and this is a great way to get a taste of it. After Epcot, I like Magic Kingdom mostly because it has some great theming and rides that are themed to movies and it just feels magical (duh ) Then I probably would go with Animal Kingdom because it has some unique experiences that aren't available in other parks. Hollywood Studios has good rides and shows but my three favorite attractions there are One Man's Dream, The Magic of Disney Animation, and Toy Story Midway Mania. One Man't Dream tells the history of Walt Disney, the parks, and Mickey Mouse (I love history so this really interested me.) The Magic of Disney Animation, which we spent a good two hours in just learning how to draw some of the characters, is an attraction where you first learn about Disney Animation and then get to try to draw some of the characters. Toy Story Midway Mania is an absolutely amazing attraction that is unique from other shooting rides and it is themed to one of the best Disney movies, Toy Story. Even the queue is cool! Overall all four of WDW's theme parks are amazing so it is hard to choose your favorite. As you can see I and my family LOVE Walt Disney World. No they wouldn't but if they could that would be awesome. Yeah, they have really good Black Forest Cake (not to mention how big of slices they give) and Italian food. This thread is making me hungry.... time for Mittagessen!

We ate there last Sunday for my dad's birthday! OMG that place has some delicious food! I LOVE authentic German food as I am part German so I would love to have a German restaurant in Festhaus. To have a building called the Festhaus then not have any German food in it just doesn't make sense.
-
I think what they really need is just a good German restaurant in the Festhaus so it is actually a Festhaus, sauerkraut, sausages, spatzle, fresh Deli selections, delicious pastries (Black Forest cake) potato pancakes, German Potato salad, just some really good German food. I also think that you could have this along with the pizza, and Asian food and it would fit in with the International street.

I've noticed that the light effects haven't been working all season, but the launch is still great!

We were riding Racer yesterday, I didn't hear them say that to us but I did hear them say when they were dispatching trains: Blue side All clear exclamation point Red side replied: All clear period

Here's the fourth clue! Facebook Page These look like loudspeakers which would also go with the Starlight Spectacular idea!

Thanks! Great Adventure does have some nice landscaping. Thank you! No, we were there the 9th. Runaway Mine Train is not too far from it either, and it has a flume ride next to it and a show.

The Best Coaster you've ever ridden? TOP 5
KICoasterGirl replied to KI FANATIC 37's topic in KI Polls
I do like Afterburn alot, but I was expecting much better. I rate Montu and Patriot above it. And I'm so glad you love Shivering Timbers! It is probably one of the most under-rated coasters ever... I've never ridden Montu. When we rode Shivering Timbers in the morning it was just meh, but in the afternoon it gets so much better and has a ton of air. -

Thank you, and yes the front was MUCH better than the back! Thanks! I'll try! Yes, and not only has she ridden Ka but she has also ridden Dragster and Maverick (front row) and likes both of them! Yeah it was! In my opinion WDW counts as 4 parks and Sea World is one so that would be five, that is still quite a lot of parks and rides! Thank you and we did have a blast on this trip!

Next Mom, Dad, Katy and I rode Superman Ultimate Flight, Mom liked this coaster, and then all of us rode Great American Scream Machine. Adam, Daddy and I rode GASM twice and both laps were great, this coaster was my 150th last year. As a sort of memorial to GASM I will add a bunch of pictures of it: It's sign with the lift hill in the background. The double loop without the train. The double loop with the train going through it. One of the loops. Corkscrew. I like this shot, too bad there wasn't a train coming. GASM's photo booth. Now we head into the Golden Kingdom to see some tiggers! Only Katy and my Mom had seen this show last year, so it was a must for us this year. This curtain covers the stage while you wait. The orange tiger performing some basic skills. I love tigers! During the show they explain how they train the tigers as well as some facts about tigers. Showing how tigers can jump. Tigers are very tall animals! A guest from the audience gets to go up to feed the tiger. At the end they get to play with inflatable toys. After watching the show we went to Kingda Ka and my mom was going to ride, we ended up having some locker issues and breakdowns so long story short, my dad and Adam went to GR and we got exit passes for two rides. We went and rode Kingda Ka, my mom and I rode in the back seat! In our opinion Kinda Ka isn't as good as Dragster, even though the launch does feel more powerful but the rest of the ride rattles. Also, the theming of Dragster adds to the ride. After getting a lap on Ka we went and rode El Toro twice going through the empty queue before we used our exit passes for the last train of the night! These topiaries at the front of the park as we were leaving were really cool! Since my mom wasn't a big coaster junkie when we went last year we rode all fourteen coasters. I can now say that I rode 14 coasters on my 14th birthday! Thanks a ton to my mom and dad for a great Birthday! (Oh and a belated thank you to those on here for the birthday wishes! ) Ride Info El Toro is a very good coaster! It is packed with a ton of airtime and is super smooth, definitely my number two wooden coaster! Last year they were stapling me every single lap but this year I wasn't stapled once! Kingda Ka is a good coaster but it is shakier than Dragster and overall Top Thrill Dragster is better. Rolling Thunder, in my opinion, is not a rolling dumpster at all! I think I like the left side better than the right. Nitro is a great hyper, the helix is very intense and the ride is full of airtime! Batman the Ride is a very intense inverted coaster. Dark Knight is a mouse in the box coaster with some neat theming and the preshow is also very cool! (Plus there's a surprise at the end!) Bizarro is a great floorless coaster with audio and some neat special effects! Superman Ultimate Flight is a B&M flyer that is much better than Firehawk, in my opinion. Katy says that Firehawk is way better though, in her opinion. Great American Scream Machine was a good Arrow Looper and I am truly sad to see it gone. Good Eats We didn't eat anything but we did get a drink cup, these come in handy when it is hot out, and it can get EXTREMELY hot in Jackson, New Jersey Rides We Rode El Toro Rolling Thunder Parachute Training Center Dark Knight Coaster Kingda Ka Batman the Ride Nitro Black Beard's Lost Treasure Train Skull Mountain Great American Scream Machine Superman Ultimate Flight Bizarro Road Runners Railway Runaway Mine Train

Day Eight July 9th: Six Flags Great Adventure When we got to Great Adventure we parked and then headed into the park. As we drove into the parking lot we all screamed, "I see coasters!" as we always do when we come to a park. Great American Scream Machine from the parking lot. Great Adventure has really nice scenery! Say hi to Bugs! As we entered we saw a sign telling of GASM's last day. Instead of a running of the bulls they walk you back to the rides. As we were walking back we snapped a shot of the Character Cafe, this building sits under a huge sundae! Kingda Ka was our first ride of the day! This will also be our first ride on Ka due to its being down when we were here last year. Adam and I waiting to be launched vertically 456 feet at 128 miles per hour! After Adam and I got off it started sprinkling right as Katy and Dad were getting on the train so they waited over half an hour before riding. After waiting a few minutes I went to find my mom and the two of us went and rode Rolling Thunder since she hadn't ridden it yet. Rolling Thunder is the racing coaster in the center with El Toro on the right and Ka on the left. My mom and I rode in the front row on the right side and had a good ride. Even though this coaster is credited with the nickname of Rolling Dumpster I actually like this coaster, it doesn't have much airtime though or anything too notable about it but it is still a good ride! We went to the left side next and sat in the back row then we got a reride! Even though we could have gotten another lap we went down to the entrance where Dad, Adam, and Katy were waiting and we told them that it was much better than I had remembered and that they should give it a try, so we rode the right side with them and then headed to El Toro! El Toro's sign. Love this shot! The pond by El Toro has a lot of ducks and geese! This goose kept posing for us to take pictures of him, as we were leaving I noticed that some of the other geese were coming over to get their pictures taken too. Runaway Mine Train's station as well as the sky ride station. Bizarro is a great floorless coaster and some of the special effects are really cool! My favorite parts are the corkscrews that go around the misters. Bizarro, like New England's, has audio, so once again Bizarro Number One Bizarro, Bizarro, Bizarro, Bizarroooooooooooooo! Bizarro's queue has posters in it that talk about Bizarro and Superman, luckily we didn't have to wait in line since the park wasn't that crowded and both rides were walk-ons! Since our lockers were soon due to get our stuff out of them we went back to El Toro and got our stuff then went to have lunch at Burger King. When we came back in we headed over to Nitro and put our bag in a locker before getting in line. Nitro's sign. Nitro's lift hill. Nitro is a great B&M Hypercoaster, the helix is very intense (Katy grayed out both times we rode it) Next up was Batman the Ride! Though this one is good my favorite is still Over Georgia's. The three ladies riding Road Runner's Railway. We rode Skull Mountain and Blackbeard's Lost Treasure Train before going back to Nitro's lockers. Both are fun family coasters. The boardwalk area of our great adventure which has a bunch of games and trashcans on it. We went over to the Superman and GASM area next. The parachute training center ride offers a great view of the park! Katy, Mom and I learning how to parachute, not really just taking a ride at the training center.

Day Seven July 8th: Astroland Driving from Lake Compounce into NYC and to Coney Island. We got to Coney Island at 9:30 and bought our eight dollar tickets to ride the Cyclone! Cyclone's train is even more couchlike than the Millennium Flyer trains. They literally have 5-6 inches of padding. Nice pics of Cyclone! Ride Info Cyclone is a good wooden coaster that is a lot longer than we thought it would be. Cyclone costs $8 to ride with $5 rerides, so for the five of us it was $65 to ride one coaster twice! First you ride and then when you come back into the station they ask you whether or not you want to reride and then you get priority seating so Dad and I jumped into the front seat for our second lap. Also, have reride money ready, even if you're not sure you want to reride, so when you come back into the station it's easy to reride. Rides We Rode Coney Island Cyclone Day Seven July 8th: Luna Park As most people know Luna Park reopened on Memorial Day Weekend under the management of Zamperla, all of the rides in this park are of Zamperla manufacture. Luna's entrance. After getting our ticket card we headed to Air Race. Air Race is an awesome flat that you can't ride anywhere else because it's a prototype at the moment! Dad, Katy and I on Air Race. Mom and Adam on Air Race. Air Race basically revolve in a circle with arms coming off of it that swing side to side and flip over. It's really cool to see the rest of the park with the lights at night upside down! Having an Air Race back in X-Base would be really cool! After all five of us rode we went to the Tickler, their spinning mouse coaster. We went to the Circus Coaster next but I don't have any pictures of it. We still had $10 left on our Luna Card so Dad and I rode the Brooklyn Flyer, which is similar to a Star Flyer. The ride op gave us one ride free which means we ended up having $5 dollars left on our card, so if we ever go back it will still have money on it! The view from Brooklyn Flyer is amazing! When we went over to the vendor that has the Wonder Wheel it turns out they had just closed, so we didn't get to ride! Ride Info If you come to Luna you must ride Air Race it is far to EPIC of a flat to not ride. Brooklyn Flyer offers a great view, especially at night, not to mention it goes up around 125 feet in the air! The coasters are not the best rides at this park but they are still good rides. Rides We Rode Brooklyn Flyer Air Race Circus Coaster The Tickler We came! We Rode! We Left! This ends our NYC experience. Note: I will have two videos up tomorrow!
