  1. Make sure to ride Ghost Hunt! Thanks! Thanks! It might be because it goes up the side of a mountain, Is Gatlinburg's a chairlift? Thanks for the info! Oops! I'll fix that! I think so but I'm not totally sure.
  2. Daddy, Katy, and I rode the Wipeout while Adam was getting food. While Adam had a hamburger the rest of us shared two pizzas and a Philly cheese steak. This is was the where Adam got his hamburger from, love this sign! My mom was the only one of the five of us who was short enough to be considered a child, so she had to ride the Kiddie Coaster four times! My mom and dad on a zen ride on the Kiddie Coaster. They have a classic Trolley ride that takes you from the middle section of Boulder Dash to the Skyride. I love classic advertising like this. The Trolley's sign. My Daddy and I on the Trolley! Their Eagles are not very good. We think it's because the front rudder is much smaller than most. The Sky Ride Lake Compounce has an EPIC sky ride, it goes up the mountain. It looks like it goes up and then comes back down but it actually levels for a moment then goes up again, think of a double up and a double down. If you look closely you can see Adam, Katy and I coming back down the mountain. The view from up here is really incredible. My mom. Their Rapids Ride. Ride Info Boulder Dash is a great wooden coaster that gets much better in the afternoon. Wildcat hurts. The Sky Ride is a must, the ride lasts 25-30 minutes and but it has a great view. Lots of people lose their flippie floppies on this ride so if you are planning on wearing slip on shoes be careful! Ghost Hunt is a great dark ride! Good Eats This park has free Pepsi products that are located at a few oasis' around the park. The Philly Cheese Steaks and pizza over by the Ferris Wheel and Sky Coaster are good. Rides We Rode Boulder Dash Wildcat Zoomerang Kiddie Coaster Rotor Ghost Hunt Carousel Wipeout American Flyers (Eagles) Trolley Sky Ride We bought some T-Shirts and keychains and I got a miniature carousel horse statue and then we headed to NYC!
  3. Day Seven July 8th: Lake Compounce We left our hotel around seven and headed to my grandma's grade school friend's house where we had breakfast. We left there about 9:30 and went to Lake Compounce! Lake Compounce's entrance reminds me of Kennywoods! Zoomerang! This has one of the prettiest paint jobs on a boomerang I've seen, it's also a fairly smooth coaster. The trains are painted metallic, so they're very shiny. Ghost Hunt is a great dark ride that is very similar to Boo Blasters! Ghost Hunt has a cute little gargoyle at the exit! The entrance of Ghost Hunt. I wish KI still had a Rotor! If you don't know what a Rotor is, it's a ride that spins really fast, then the floor drops about two feet and you are held up by centrifugal force. Boulder Dash! A nice sign displays the data and stats of the ride at the entrance. This was my mom's 100th different coaster! I thought this was going to be my 250th but I forgot to add in two of my previous coasters. Boulder Dash is a good wooden coaster. It has a unique lift hill that takes you up the side of a mountain. We rode Wildcat in the back and it hurt a ton! The ACE Coaster Landmark sign. Their Carousel. Katy, Daddy and I riding the carousel. The five of us. There was a goat on this carousel!
  4. While we were waiting for Maverick to open at Cedar Point on Sunday I heard a girl tell her mother that Maverick was a gigacoaster and that there are only three in the world, Maverick, Millie and Top Thrill Dragster! She then went on to explain that what makes them gigacoasters is that the track is made up of triangles!
  5. Great PTR Keith! The minilands look really cool especially the D.C.! Downtown Disney in Florida has a lego shop and they have some mini mini cities. Morey's Piers has the same type of Tilt-a-Whirl (plus two other good ones) and it also spun really well.
  6. Thanks! Yeah, they've been pulled over to the dark side!
  7. Thanks! A few of the pictures are taken by me, some of the pictures are taken by my dad, but most are taken by my mom. Are you referring to the arch of the names? Totally and completely agreed!
  8. Thanks Robbie! Interesting! Were they chair lift style or bucket style?
  9. The section of the park where Bizarro, Dark Knight and Catwoman's Whip are located The Joker's Wildcard is not the best of the wipeouts I have been on but the theme and paint job are cool! There's a Catwoman statue in the queue. I must mention the kiddie coaster as the ride name used to be Rolling Thunder! Now it's Great Chase! Now for some more Bizarro! See the big, purple box in the middle of the train? That's the audio, without it we wouldn't hear Bizarro #1 at the end! This hangs above the room with the lockers. The New England SkyWay. This has got to have the most unique seats! As you can see this ride was made by Von Roll LTD. When my dad and Katy took Adam back to the hotel since he was so tired, my mom and I went shopping for T-Shirts and I tried on a Mr. Six mask! This creepy Joker statue is in one of the gift shops Their Tea Cups spun really good! This area had some interesting theming! Ride Info Bizarro is amazing! Number 1 steel coaster in the world is very true! Cyclone has a lot of air. This coaster is in my dad's top ten wood. Pandemonium is one of the best spinning coasters I have been on. This coaster spins a bunch. Catwomen's Whip is a nice family coaster that has a huge train! Houdini is a great illusion. Batman: Dark Knight is a great floorless coaster. Lockers Be sure to bring a couple of dollars with you if you are bringing loose articles, some of the rides will not have drop boxes for loose articles so plan ahead! Two hour lockers are only a dollar here. We put our bag in one and came back within the two hours and it wouldn't open, so we had to wait 20 minutes for an attendant to come and open it. Also, make sure you come back within the two hours because security will come and take your stuff. Rides We Rode Bizarro Batman:Dark Knight Catwoman's Whip Cyclone Flashback Great Chase Mind Eraser Pandemonium Thunderbolt Houdini the Great Escape Tomahawk Blizzard River New England SkyWay Crime Wave The Tea Cups The Joker's Wildcard I love this shot! We used the two sets of exit passes, we got due to the lockers, before getting back in line for one last ride. Dad and I got the last train of the night in the front row! (thanks again to Mom and Katy who let us ride front row since they were dispatching one more train!) And that ends our day at Six Flags New England! What a day!
  10. Day Five July 6th: Six Flags New England After we left Six Flags Great Escape we headed to Connecticut for Six Flags New England! We got here around 8:30 and we made a beeline to Bizarro. We've arrived in Agawam! Six Flags New England's sign. New England's entrance with Scream in the background and Bizarro hiding behind trees. That just happened! Bizarro number one, Bizarro, Bizarro Bizarroooooo. We got two rides in including last train of the night. Only one train was running with the audio so we got one with and one without! The audio is good but can get annoying. This ride is awesome! There is a ton of ejector airtime and some really neat effects. The pentagon (superman logo) shaped misters had lights at night that would change colors and were really cool. For those with long hair make sure you put your hair up on this ride otherwise it is in your face and you can barely see anything! Day Six July 7th: Six Flags New England The M&M steps you walk over to get to the entrance. They have a show before the park opens. Here's Bugs Bunny! For those who miss Scooby! Dorthy from the Wiggles. My two favorite Loony Tunes characters: Porky and Petunia! We headed to Mind Eraser first, but it was down so we went to Batman: Dark Night where we had to get a locker. Dark Night is a very good floorless coaster. It was my mom's first floorless and she loved it.Later in the day she and I, when the others were riding Thunderbolt, went back and she rode by herself while I held the bag, she is now quite a ride warrior! Dark Knight's sign. The corkscrew part of Dark Knight. After riding Bilzzard River I was already drenched so I stood in the Looney Tunes fountain for a few minutes. Cyclone is a very good classic. You get ejector air on the first drop! More Cysclone! Wouldn't it be cool if they put posters with pictures of old Cedar Fair coasters on the panels of Racer's tunnels? We rode Pandemonium twice, this spinning mouse is the best of the Gerstlauer spinning coasters, in my opinion. The second Thunderbolt of the trip! Thunderbolt! Houdini's Great Escape is a really cool simulatorish ride, the real model name is a Vekoma Madhouse. You start out by entering a room that has some of Houdini's most famous tricks in it. This room is more air conditioned than Gobbler's Getaway! Anyways, you watch a pre-show and then move into this room and take seats on rows of benches (three rows on eitherside), a lap bar comes down and then you start to swing back and forth, and it feels like you're going upside down. The combo of swinging and a 360 degree rotating drum creates an illusion that you are going upside down, it is very cool! Right next to Houdini is Tomahawk! Tomahawk is the same ride as Revolution at Six Flags Great America. The ride is a frisbee ride where the riders face inwards and there is a floor.
  11. You forgot Cobra at La Ronde! My order (best to worst) is as follows: Cobra at La Ronde Georgia Scorcher at SFOG Chang at SFKK Iron Wolf at SFGAm Sky Rider at Canada's Wonderland Mantis at Cedar Point Vortex at Carowinds Shockwave at Kings Dominion
  12. Thank you! Didn't there used to be a gum tree at Kings Island?
  13. Thanks! Great Escape is one of the smaller Six Flags parks but it is a really nice one! Thanks! I'll try to get it up tonight, but I've just started it. I will let DaveStroem answer that one.
  14. Your welcome, I enjoy writing them!
  15. They're trying hard to get a better reputation, so in the past few years the parks have been cleaner, when you looked down a path at New England there were two rows of trashcans and recycle bins placed about fifteen feet apart that help the park stay clean. Also, the employees have been very enthusiastic, they give high fives while checking the trains! Six Flags is working very hard to make sure everyone has as close to a six flags day as possible!
  16. We did too! No, we didn't ride Sasquatch. it did seem a little shorter than Disaster Transport, but both are good rides. Inside the station there are posters that tell about the Crystal Beach Cyclone. Thank you to both! The sky was perfect for taking pictures that day.
  17. They have a petting zoo with cute baby goats! This ride had a very long cycle. Their Cannonball Express is like a musik express. Coney's Trabant is much better, this one hardly spun. My mom and I with Speedy. The Loony Toons National Park area. Mr. Six's dance party. Here is a nice picture of their skyride. Alice in Wonderland This is my absolute favorite attraction of all of Great Escape. Here's Katy and I with the White Rabbit. This attraction starts out with a tunnel that tilts down to make the doors look like they are getting smaller and smaller untill you end up in this room, like Alice did. She drank a potion to make herself smaller so she would fit through the door that leads to the outside. When you exit you follow along a path and come across more scenes and creatures... ...like the Cheshire Cat! Alice ate a cookie to make her get bigger. The walrus. I'm not sure who this character is. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum One of the Queen's knights. And finally the Queen of Hearts herself! The three of us with a couple of flowers. Theming Six Flags Great Escape has EPIC theming! There is a section of the park called Storytown that has little houses throughout it each representing different Nursery Rhymes. Here is an example. This is the Queen of Hearts house. This house belongs to the three little kittens who lost their mittens. This wasn't a nursery rhyme but it reminded me of Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort, which is a lovely resort by the way. I loved how they had a mini dock for the mini boats. Good Eats The stand by the castle and pony rides has really good custard, not quite as good as two of Cedar Point's stands though! It literaly has the consistency of frozen whipped creme. Ride Info Alice in Wonderland is an absolute must walk through attraction, see above for details. Steamin' Demon is an okay Arrow Looper. Alpine Bobsled is a good coaster that you get airtime on, but brace your self for the turns and turning to going through the short midcourses. Rides We Rode Boomerang Coast to Coaster Steamin' Demon The Comet Road Runners Express Canyon Blaster Alpine Bobsled Trabant Cannonball Express Condor Desperado Plunge Flying Trapeze Alice in Wonderland I'm going to close this PTR with a legend about a statue of a boar. This statue shown above is a replica of a statue in Florence, Italy called Porcellino. The legend is if you drop a coin in the grate below the statue and rub the boar's nose you will be sure to visit Florence again. The statue near the entrance of Great Escape has a sign that tells of the story, but then it adds something like "so leave a coin, rub the statue's nose and you will someday return to Storytown." Sure enough I did return to Storytown that day but I do hope to go back to Storytown another time! Also, All of the proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. Six Flags Great Escape is definately one of my favorite Six Flags parks. Note: We left at park closing which was five since there was a special event going on. We then drove to Six Flags New England for the evening, this part will be in New England's PTR.
  18. Day Five July 6th: Six Flags Great Escape There was very pretty scenery between our hotel in Plattsburgh and Six Flags Great Escape. They have a very nice entrance sign. We went to Boomerang Coast to Coaster first since these rides are known for getting long lines. The Bommerang's sign. I like this shot. Katy, Dad and mom rode this a second time later in the day, if you look closely you'll see them. Also, notice the stride gum advertisements, they must be trying hard to get out of their debt! Steamin' Demon has a very pretty color scheme. Canyon Blaster is a well themed but somewhat boring mine ride. Some of the theming of Canyon Blaster. Comet is a good woodie but it still could be better. This is my mom's third favorite wooden coaster. Comet's lift hill. I like Comet's logo. The ACE landmark plaque. I loved Alpine Bobsled! You actually get airtime on this bobsled! Alpine Bobsled's lift hill. This looked like a cute show. Desperado Plunge is a nice flume ride with some neat theming. It takes you around the building that held Nightmare at Crack Axle Canyon. Their Condor is very mild but still fun!
  19. Thank you! Right now I'm writing Great Escape's. I very much enjoy writing these trip reports!
  20. Thank you again! It has a lot of airtime and there's no midcourse! Thanks! Most of the pictures are taken by either my mom or dad so the credit goes to them! Oh yeah! I had taken my flip flops off and set them to the side and fastened the restraints, but when the ride op came she put my flip flops back on for me!
  21. Terpy posted an article this morning about how three of the restraints opened mid ride on La Boomerang. No one was hurt because of centrifugal force holding them in. Link: http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=22235 And Thank you! This one took forever to write since there were so many photos!
  22. Great trip report! The videos were good. It was fun hanging out with everybody on Saturday and it was nice to see you and your family again!
  23. Thanks! She said that she's gotten used to them and isn't scared like she had been, but there are plenty that she still doesn't like!
