  1. I doubt the trains too close together..... Diamondback is probably one of the roller coasters that has the most distance between trains in the brake run. Have you seen the distance between the 2nd and 3rd train when trains are stack? The transfer track isn't even being used to park a train where it easily could. And if the ride was having "near-misses" the ride probably wouldn't of been running if that was the issue and they knew it. Maybe they were checking the slabs to make sure Diamondback isn't sinking like Vortex
  2. ^Thanks for the times! When you worked Diamondback did you guys achieve the suggested times or had pretty efficient boarding or did trains stack constantly?
  3. My Mom and I arrived at the park at around 9:30 awaiting a VERY lengthy line just to the parking booths. We were backed up all the way to the Intersection of Kings Island Drive and Western Row Rd. The line seemed to take forever but finally we made it through. We parked at around 10 and found our way to the new entrance where they had already started to let people through. I really enjoy the looks of it and enjoy going through it rather than a hole in a fence... Now here is a mistake on KI part. Like in the regular park everyone is allowed through the gate, but only Gold Pass are allowed through a second gate. We were all herded in a very small area to the right of the entrance. I cannot describe how many people were in this tiny area! Now instead of how in the park the entrance for gold is a small opening in a temporary fence in Soak City they just dropped a rope for everyone to herd through. Everyone just raised their pass when passing by the guard. Now imagine hundreds of people going through at one time. Anyone could have made through, and I was consistently being pushed and being hit by other people and strollers. I believe to fix this problem they should look at what Cedar Point does. Just like Soak City(KI), Cedar Point has flat screens at the entrance. At Cedar Point some turnstiles are used for Platinum and the others for everyone else. I think at Soak City(KI) they should 1. Not allow people in before 10:30 as it caused too much crowding and 2. Use the screens like Cedar Point and divide the ticket scanning stations for gold and then for regular, or just not allow regular to be scanned. If they would divide the ticket scanning stations, allow more room for people as I do not enjoy being sprayed by a million peoples sun screen. Anyways we headed to the Breakers Bay (Great Barrier Reef) as we suspected most would head to the new wave pool(which they did). We found 2 seats one under the shade, and the other not. My mom had received a free drinks wristband perk so we went and got her wristband at a snack stand. Afterwards we got in line for Mondo Monsoon(Tazmanian Typhoon). We knew it would have long lines all day and wanted to have the shortest wait possible. At 11 we were allowed to enter the queue and ended up waiting about 1/2 hour. We decided to ride the Zoom Flume(Snowy River Rampage) and headed down the new path back to the slide. That new path is great! Instead of walking around the whole water park we arrived very shortly to the slide. Sadly the line extended all the way to the entrance and later outside and need to use the switchback. We decided to ride anyways and waited FOREVER. That slide has to have the worst capacity in the whole park. The line moved dead slow. But the ride was great! I love the wooden location of the ride compared to the open pavement found in most of the water park. We headed to Soak City Grill to redeem our 5.99 Memorial Day FunPerk coupons. I have to say that burger was really good, one of the best I've had in a long time, very impressed. After we finished eating I decided to go by myself and ride Pineapple Pipeline(Bondi Pipeline), Thunder Falls(Didgeridoo Falls), and Tropical Twister. All of those lines went by fast and were very enjoyable. I had never been on Thunder Falls before but was very thrilled. It was probably one of the best single tube slides I've ridden. I was constantly changing from forwards to backwards on the turns, what a thrill! I checked in with my mom and headed to our locker. I decided I would look at the Diamondback webcam to see how lines were inside the park and was presently surprised, Diamondback wasn't using any switchbacks! I told my mom so we packed everything into the locker and walked to Diamondback. As years go on I've come to really enjoying the ride. When it opened I thought the ride was extremely boring and force-less, but recently I've been getting AMAZING air time on all the hills, almost ejector. Sadly we had a group of girls behind us who thought it would be funny to scream at the highest pitch possible on purpose(it was the most fake scream I had ever heard..) That made the ride less enjoyable having to cover my ears the whole time. Sadly the last 2 years that has became more and more common. Last year two tween girls did the same thing causing my hearing in my right ear ring, have pain, and hear faintly for the rest of the day. It's sad that some people don't have respect for others on rides anymore... We headed to WindSeeker for the last ride of our visit since it had been closed every other time and had a great ride as usual. Some people don't really enjoy it but I think it's one of the top 3 flats in the park, the views are amazing! Disappointingly the crew was VERY slow at getting the ride loaded and took over 5 minutes each time loading the ride. We left at around 3pm and had a great time despite some negatives! Overall I think the Soak City transformation was great with keeping the Australian theme, building a second wave pool for crowds, a new entrance, and just small things like paint and adding a pathway. Thanks for reading this lengthy TR! - MagmMForce247
  4. http://www.13abc.com...g-for-over-hour Makes me curious to see if our WindSeeker will have even more lengthy downtime this season...
  5. That doesn't relate though. Diamondback has the whole off-season to be worked on. I'm not complaining, just saying that it seems strange.
  6. I don't really see what else they could do and how this maintenance could improve this. ^ Do you wanna share your thoughts on how you think they're improving this during the maintenance closure?
  7. ^ Same here. It seems funny to have "routine maintenance" scheduled for a week during the season....
  8. I was wondering if anyone knew how long Diamondback should be in the station before being dispatched to have efficient 3 train operation. It seems like it hasn't been met very often as almost everytime I've ridden it or just looked at Diamondback this year trains have been stacking every cycle. Thanks for anyone has information on this topic!
  9. ^ That was the year before. Last year you had to buy the ticket, but it was open to just Honda no matter what. The first year after moving from Columbus for a while was free or cheaper than last year. Time Line (Since I've participated) 2007 : Columbus Convention Center 2008 : Cedar Point - Closed to public- free or VERY cheap to Honda employees 2009 : Cedar Point - Would be closed if enough tickets were sold; Not enough were and the park opened to the public 2010 : Cedar Point - Closed to public, but had to pay 2011 : Kings Island - Closed to public, but will have to pay Hope that helps! -MagmMForce247
  10. PREMiERdrum, last years worker announcement, said that the park was indeed exclusive for Honda employees .... the year before was not... -MagmMForce247
  11. Yeah in 2009 they said it would open exclusively to Honda if enough tickets were sold, which there weren't and it turned out really busy. But ever since it's been closed to the public. It just stinks that I can't ride Diamondback because of my stupid cast! -MagmMForce247
  12. Oldiesmann : No, it wasn't moved for the Indiana plant. This is for Honda of America only which is only a few manufacturing plants in Ohio. They originally said a few years ago on the employee announcement sheet that my dad got, that they planned to rotate it between Cedar Point, Kings Island, and the Columbus convention center, but it hasn't changed till this year. Is Kings Island cheaper to rent out?
  13. Honda is having their Honda family day and wellness fair on Saturday. Its been at Cedar Point since 2008, but has moved to Kings Island this year. It's closed to the public, and free meals are provided. It's a great day, and is normally dead!

  15. ^ That is really strange that Kings Dominion and Carowinds count it, but Kings Island does.... Was there Halloween festivals better than ours? It's probably soemthing that I shouldn't suspect anything on except a error in communication. Posted above is stated that Cedar Fair wanted to purchase KI so they could keep competition down. I hope that motive has changed for a Business standpoint since if I remember KI is more profitable than CP. In a business standpoint you would want to improve KI more than CP, but without killing Cedar Point. The thing is Kings Island has the large local attention, compared to Cedar Point, which is more of a destination resort. Kings Island has the ability to grow local business more than Cedar Point, considering that Kings Island is close to Cincinnati, which is larger than Sandusky. I hope they plan to make Kings Island a larger destination park, as it has the potential, since our attendance is growing compared to CP's where i believe has been maintained for the past years. I just think from a business point that KI would be smarter to Invest into. -MagmMForce247
  16. I agree they can't keep it silent. I would think at some point it'll become a safety hazard (more than what it already is... ) I have had a lot of people ask me about it (non- enthusiast). ^Are you talking about the ride warnings that played in the queue, and that area of Action Zone? If you are there is a video on You Tube that has it. It's called "Kings Island July 2009 Son of Beast Closed". I believe it is a video of the first day of complete no operation, but I'm not sure. The spiel I believe starts around the 16 second mark. -MagmMForce247
  17. Yeah I think the wheels really make the factor, but could the trains also make a difference? I personally have never ridden a B&M hyper besides Diamondback, but could the longer cars create more vibration, as I assume they are heavier. They brought this up at CWMania, and I wondered if that really could be a possibility? But Diamondback is still really smooth, it might rattle a bit, but that shouldn't hurt, just be annoying or uncomfortable for a bit. -MagmMForce247
  18. The crypt... I love the theme and adventurous atmosphere. It was my first ride I cried on!! (It was TR:TR then..) But then I wanted to ride it all the time after that!! I also like TombRaiderFTW am curious about it's mechanisms, and have had "obsessions" over it.
  19. Son of Beast! My 2nd favorite coaster..... I remember when we moved to Ohio from Illinois, I saw it closed and instantly wanted to ride it. It made me happy as it has a great first drop, like The Boss @ Six Flags St. Louis.
  20. That's really strange that you guys get a ton of airtime, I just never seem to get any. I must be stapling my self, as I normally ride in the back. Maybe when I grow it'll fit better? But it seems like if it's touching me, there is a 5 inch gap.... I still like Diamondback a lot and is a must ride a couple times per visit, but it's not my favorite. Though I will be disappointed that I can't ride it because of my cast -MagmMForce247 Edit: And yes Maverick is a great ride! I loved it when I got a night ride, but it doesn't compare to a Beast night ride....
  21. It sounds like you had fun! But.... I have to disagree with you.... I think Millennium Force is better than Diamondback. I just never seem to get any airtime on Diamondback, but I always get lots on Millennium's 3 hills... I think the theme is great for the ride, and for some odd reason I love the theme!!! (I know, I'm blind... ) I also love the over-banked turns, especially the last one. I feel like I'm flying past everyone into the future.... (Cheesy, right? ) I agree with thekidd33 though (wow I agree with someone...) Flight Deck is better, in my opinion. It has more speed and the trains sway more. But that's my opinion..... -MagmMForce247
  22. I'm really not a fan-boy of B&M...... There just isn't anything majorly different in mechanics from their hyper coasters, or from all I know... -MagmMForce247
  23. I think this is a great step for B&M. They FINALLY are getting into the giga business, which will mean more parks will probably start receiving giga's now. If you look in coaster history, Arrow created the hyper coaster..., but who has built the most??? (Hint: B&M Parks will know have 2 major choices for a giga coaster ( I don't consider Chance-Morgan major competition..). Major park corporations are familiar with both, and both know that B&M's are more reliable. It'll be interesting IF Kings Island will follow, like what happened with Diamondback. There has been complaining that this is similar to Behemoth... I would say no. This coaster is more low to the ground, with speed hills, rather than tall airtime hills. The only problem I have is the trims.....
  24. I just received a cast and have read up on their rider safety guides. Cedar Points says "Guests with casts and braces will be restricted from riding rides where the cast or brace will not fit inside the ride unit or where it will present a hazard to the guest or others. Guests with full arm (elbow restricted) and full leg (knee restricted) casts or braces are restricted from most rides and slides at Cedar Point, Soak City and Castaway Bay." Kings Island is about the same except no one on Diamondback & Drop Tower are permitted to have a cast. I would still contact them before your visit though.
  25. Nothing is worse for a Bears fan than being at a colts decorated steak 'n shake in Indianapolis after they beat the bears in the super bowl...
