  1. If you look at the pic of the floorless suspended on Arrow's website, it could be done. It wouldn't make Top Gun a inverted coaster. The trains would still move as they do now but your feet would dangle. I think your feet would be in the same spot as if the car was enclosed.
  2. I think Top Gun is a decent ride but I noticed that Arrow has a "Bodiless Suspend coaster" http://www.arrowdynamics.com/products/susp...ed/bodiless.php I don't know if it's possible but wouldn't it be cool if they could make Top Gun a "floorless" suspended? They would probably have to do something to the floor of the station for loading and other adjustments. But since Paramount Parks seems to be in "recycling" mood (as evidenced by the relocation of Stealth and the rumored relocation of PKI's water stuff) this would be a way to add a new thrill to an existing ride.
  3. Did Surf Cincinnati have any slides or attractions that were unique or worth saving? I never visited so I don't know. But like Beastfreak said why would PKI want some stuff from a park that closed down. If the slides and attractions had been any good at Surf Cincinnati, they wouldn't have closed.
  4. Actually Alice is shown in Oktoberfest. She looks for the tube on the Spinning Keggers ride. Also at the end of the episode, Mike walks out of offices by the Scooby Doo (aka Beastie).
  5. For those who never rode Shockwave at Six Flags Great America, they built it on the parking lot but did nothing in the way of landscaping. They were still yellow lines from the parking lot under the ride. Looked REAL nice. So be happy that PKI has all that great wooded land. It means they will be able to give us some amazing rides for a long time.
  6. The Topple Tower is in the "classic" ride section. PKI seems to buy from the Giant section only. It does look cool though. Kind of looks like an upside down Delirium (the one that is at the park now). But I would have to guess PKI is probably going to go with the HUSS Giant Deliruim with the water theme for next year.
  7. Wow! A lot of you guys miss the Smurf ride. I always thought they made a mistake by changing it over from Enchanted Voyage. As a kid, I use to love riding the boat as you entered the giant TV. If they still had that ride today, it would have so much "retro" appeal. But I doubt AOL Time Warner would have allowed them to have access to all the HB characters. Phantom Theater was okay. But the Enchanted Voyage will always rule that building!
  8. I'm glad they have that much room. It means we won't see any "parking lot" rides. Which if you ever rode Shockwave at Six Flags Great America, you know what I mean.
  9. It's got to be Skylab. That ride was so much fun. And it was a bigger enterprise ride than current ones (the cars were bigger). It was so much fun when you came down from the top of the spin and just saw the ground coming at you. People used to stand and watch that ride and be so freaked out. Bring back Skylab!
  10. So an exec was just willing to share all this information with you? Are you guys friends or was he just in a sharing mood that day? As for all the changes that Chatter mentioned, that seems like a lot. Yes, PKI would like to be consistantly themed but I don't think they are going to relocate an entire coaster just because it fits in better. TR:TR doesn't fit Rivertown, is that going to be moved too? Also that is a lot of trees to be clearing out just so people can watch a ride that is already popular. All we know so far is that something is happening to an area in Water Works. That's it. Stop playing the "I talked to somebody at PKI" game. It's getting old.
  11. Wow! I was not expecting that. Yeah, they could be bluffing and just be renovating the area and switching it over to Splash Works (didn't some of you say you had seen Splash Works towels?) but I don't think so. According to the wording in their statement, the area will be used for expansion. This brings up lots of questions. What about the train? Will it sill be transportation back to the area or will they redo the train scenes and bring them back to where they used to be? They might just do what they did with the Animal Safari and build on it over the course of a few years. Anyway, this could be big!
  12. Dane, you're a PKIU Staffer? How do you expect to enforce the rules of this board when a staff member uses terrible grammer and spelling? A few examples from your post: "After parking WERE we usually do"- should be "where" "Auful" "deside" "wasent" "emocians" And there were lots more. Please, if you and the rest of the staff are going to ask that we post by the rules, I suggest you lead by example.
  13. Thanks for getting back on topic, Beastfreak. Spinning rides, motion simulators, and VR rides also scored high on the survey. I was pleased to see that. I would love to see ride similar to Spiderman at IOA, which is my all time favorite ride. I was surprised by how high inversions scored on the survey. Most coasters built over the past years haven't had a lot of inversions. Also, I meant to provide a link to the survey page but I forgot. Sorry.
  14. I received the results of the ride survey this morning (not sure when everyoe else got them) and a long coaster with high speed and inversions is the top choice for a new ride. There was a part that said the results from the survey will determine what is built next year and the years to follow. I doubt this will mean a coaster for next year but it does show that PKI is listening to their customers.
  15. It was the same day. One guy fell in the pond and another one went in to help him and both were electrocuted by a faulty machine that recirculated the water. And then the woman fell from Flight Commander beacause she was intoxicated and passed out and fell out from under the restraints. That had to be a horrible day in the park. On a happier note, who remembers the giant House of Cards in HB Land? I used to love that thing. It was neat how they had HB characters as the Queen and King on the cards. The mirror section was okay but the fun was walking into the first room with the slanted floor. If it was you first time you would literally slam into the far wall because you were not expecting it. The second year it was opend they installed a foam padded railing in front of the wall. So instead of hitting the wall, you would slam into a rib high padded bar. Gee, I think know why they took it out.
  16. Also look at any financial web site and you can see that buying five parks is the farthest thing from Cedar Fair's mind (NYSE: FUN). I am sure their shareholders would not be happy if they decided to go on a spending spree when stock price is down and shows no signs of recovery.
  17. I am sure if Viacom decided to sell their parks, they would sell all of their parks. The park divisions of entertainment companies (Vivendi/Universal and Paramount) do not not contribute a lot of revenue when compared to their other divisions. Now if for some reason, Viacom did want to sell the parks, CF may be the only company who would want them. Look at how much trouble Vivendi is having selling the Universal entertainment division. Everybody wants the music, television and movie parts but they do want the parks, which Vivendi is insisting is part of the package. But honestly, I don't think CF would want them at this point. They seem more interested in developing their smaller parks (MI Adventure, Valleyfair) into stronger players. Taking over PKI and the others would take their focus off that and they would end up as just being another Six Flags. And nobody wants that.
  18. Gee, Banc of America wouldn't give you a loan? Maybe it's because you can't go five minutes without cussing and you have lower than average intelligence (based on your horrible use of grammar).
  19. So you hate the park, yet you give them money? Gee, you seem to not like me either. How much are you going to give me? No matter what is built next year, PKI will survive and make money. With or without your presence.
  20. So if PKI doesn't build a hyper for next year they lose a group of people who come to the park for only four of five rides and leave by three or four P.M. But by improving Water Works (or whatever they have planned) they gain families who stay the entire day and utilize the entire park. That's the type of customer any business would want.
  21. It's funny how the term "family park" is used almost as an insult to PKI. I think they are smart to be more family friendly than other parks. A family of four or five spends more money in the park than a group of teens or twenty-somethings. A family will buy the Keyhole photos while others avoid them at all costs. A family will spend more on food, souveniers, stroller rental, and other impulse buy items. They also can't cover the park as quickly as non-families so they are more likely to spend two days in the park. I think a water park addition is a good move. SFWOA recently upgraded theirs and now with Cedar Point's annoucement of the indoor water park, it's evident there is lots of interest in them. I could see them putting in a master blaster or some other unique water ride. Let's not forget, parks like WDW and IOA do not have any world record breaking coasters yet they have some amazing rides. These parks and PKI have proven you can have a "world class" park without a hyper or giga coaster.
  22. I could be wrong but didn't KI institute a two beer limit after the Flight Commander incident? Did Paramount do away with that policy? I'm glad they have designated drinking areas but I think it's more because of Ohio liquor laws than PKI policy. Yes, PKI has a liquor license but it's only for certain areas. Ever been to a bar on St. Patty's day or some other large celebration day? If a bar puts up a tent outside, you can't even carry a beer from inside the bar to the tent or vice versa (I learned this the hard way at Flannagan's at UD). Doesn't matter if it's private or public property, the liquor laws still apply.
  23. Get rid of Timberwolf and Congo Falls and expand Top Gun!
  24. I agree with the "quantity vs. quality" statement. Cedar Point does have the most coasters but they have so many boring coasters. Junior Gemini, Corkscrew, Disaster Transport, Mine Ride, Woodstock are basically there to keep their total up. Okay, PKI's Taxi Jam is not exactly world class but the rest of PKI's line-up all provide decent thrills (although I have never ridden Ghoster Coaster). I would rather see PKI take their time and develop a well thought out and creative coaster rather than throw up some phallic shaped tower that takes 15seconds to ride.
  25. I half to agree. The only parks populating this "coaster race" myth, are SFMM and Cedar Point. Ever since Superman: The Escape popped up, the two parks have been doing a "one up" approach to what they build. And I think they have suffered for it. SFMM is supposedly terrible with customer service and upkeep of the park and Cedar Point has almost forgotten their flat ride collection. PKI has taken a very smart approach to growing the park. They have added some decent coasters over the years but they have kept their flat ride collection strong. Their Kids section puts anything at any Six Flags park to shame. So let the other guys build the big coasters that are plagued with problems. I think PKI is the Decathlete of amusement parks. They may not be the best in a single category but overall they are the best park.
