  1. Tired of them? Aren't there only 4 in the world? 2 in the US (Dollywood and Six Flags IL) and both of those opened last year? You're are tired already after 1 season and both are over 4 hours away from cincy? I don't think KI will put in a winged coaster because 1. Cedar Point just got one and 2. it's a relatively new thing. It's still untested. KI can't gamble after removing a $20 mil (in 1999) coaster. Gambling is not an option. KI has to put in something they know will be solid, and they know they will get return on. This one has to make its own way and pick up some SOB slack. I think if they build a new coaster, it needs to boast something to grab people's attention. I don't think a winged coaster the year after CP opened theirs will grab much attention and won't draw people from in between the two parks.
  2. I realize I am new here, but I thought the idea of the thread was to try to decode the meaning of the sign. I don't want another SOB, but in just looking at sign, i thought I'd offer a possible interpretation of the meaning. I don't think anybody said "Rebuild SOB!" I thought everyone was just analyzing the sign and what we saw opening day. Why don't you say what you think it means? Maybe it means nothing. Just saying another idea is stupid doesn't make it stupid. Just saying someone is wrong doesn't make them wrong. I think it's exciting that KI is possibly building another coaster. I think it's fun that they try to give hints, or talk in coded language and we try to figure it out. None of us know anymore than the others so any guess is as legit as the next at this point.
  3. I don't think it is a good idea, but the "warning" signs we see seem to be making a reference to SOB. I don't think retracking or retrofitting the ride was an option, or they would have done it. I think the problems it had would have continued so they just dismantled it. SOB wasn't a bad idea or a bad coaster, it appears it wasn't installed properly. Redoing it perhaps with a couple new wrinkles isn't going to result in a bad coaster. With all the work, rework and troubleshooting they were forced to do with SOB, if they were to rebuild it, i would think they would have it all worked out already.Personally, I'd like to see a 311' 94 mph Leviathan type coaster, but right now what I see doesn't lead me in that direction. It's extremely early on in the process, but it's fun to let your imagination go and think of what might be.
  4. I'm not saying I agree with SOB resurrection, just saying what we are looking at as "clues" could be interpreted that way, and trying to see why it might make sense. I agree overcoming the stigma left by SOB would be a challenge, but if it says "biggest, tallest, loopiest, etc" people will ride it and a smoother, better ride would overcome the old rep fairly quickly. SOB developed the rough tag pretty early on and people still lined up to ride it, and many say they miss it.
  5. ^^I was unaware they had already sold all the parts. Since they just demolished it, i would assume they would still have parts.^^
  6. Of course it could all be a DIVErsion or a TALL tale, but reading the sign and seeing the scheme being identical to the original SOB, I am currently thinking it could be a new and improved SOB. Like SOB rises from the grave to haunt all who dare to ride it. They have been over SOB hundreds of times trying to figure out how to improve it. If there's one coaster I'd think they would consider a sure bet to rebuild, it would be SOB. I would think they would be able to do it cheaper than building a brand new coaster from scratch because they could use parts off of SOB.
  7. I got there about 5:15 or so. I had to get my season pass processed. The line was long but moved along well. I thought the workers did a great job of keeping it moving and were very friendly which can be a task after dealing with so many people all day. My gf and I bought Fast Pass Plus passes. I got in line for DB at 5:50 and was off the ride at 5:59. We walked right up and got on The Beast after that with practically no wait at all. The only wait we experienced was for FH which I was a little unsatisfied with because the is one of the rides we paid extra for. However, there was only 1 train running and still my wait was probably 20 min. We ended up riding DB 3x, Beast 2x, FH, FoF, Vortex, BLSC, Invertigo and Flight Deck. We knew it would be crowded and we thought the fast passes would be sold out so we were anticipating getting our passes made and maybe getting to ride DB and 1 or 2 other things. I don't necessarily agree with the idea of Fast Pass, but it made for a great experience with only 5 hours of time. We even stopped and ate in there. I thought the first time I rode The Beast, it felt really smooth, and I really felt the braking hard in certain areas. The 2nd time it had been raining just a bit, and i didn't feel the braking so much making it feel much faster and a little less smooth. I thought Vortex felt really smooth and the rolls weren't so jerky. DB felt like DB though the last time I rode it when I was going up the 1st hill, my lap bar felt like it could go another notch so i clicked it down. Right before cresting the first hill, the lap bar clicked out and went to the looser notch. I'd be lying if I said that wasn't on my mind over the first 2 hills which added a little wonder/ worry. That bit of uncertainty added just a bit more exhilaration to the usual exhilaration of DB. Not sure why, but they stopped running DB right after that run. Not sure if it ran again the rest of the night. WindSeeker was down. They fixed the 2nd FH train and got it running while we were waiting. Other than that, it was great.
