It wouldn't sell YOU a pass, apparently, but as long as a coaster looks fun and interesting enough to ride, people will come. The same amount of people that would come for an RMC would come for a GCI, because they don't care about the manufacturer. So what your saying is if Joe blow is watching the news and they show a traditional wooden coaster that will make him take his family to the park? I believe if Joe blow is watching the news and sees a hybrid doing flips, "top gun stalls", etc he will be more likely to take his family to the park.I agree that most of the GP would much rather have an RMC than a GCI, but the difference between the GP and enthusiasts is that enthusiasts know that both exist. Most of the GP does not know what an RMC is, especially if they do not live around one. Yes there is one at KK, but a lot of people around here have never been there. Heck, many don't even know KK is open again! What I'm trying to say is that, yes, they would enjoy an RMC more, but if they don't know that RMC exists, they would just as happily accept a GCI. To the GP, for the most part, anything new is good. Whether it be GCI or RMC, as Don said, "People will come" Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I value your opinion.I understand what your saying but Joe blow has already seen a traditional wood coaster before but wold not have seen a wood coaster with inversions, top gun stalls, etc. A small coaster can work in a smaller market like KC, and valley fair cause the people don't have access or know of anything different. Here everyone knows about CP and the massive rides they get consistently. -

KIC members cannot decide what is: big, small, adult. kiddie, traditional, etc. I highly doubt the average park goer will even care- and that is due to marketing, which Don (and CF as of recently) does very well. Due to numerous discussions waiting in line- most guests have no idea what GCI, RMC, B & M, Intamin are until the type of track is explained. Then you can see the light come on because they are connecting the dots. But getting back to season passes- I don't believe a "traditional" coaster will have a negative/ neutral impact as you believe. Ravine Flyer II at Waldameer in Erie could be labeled as small due to being 2900' with a drop of 115' and max speed of 57mph, but what it does not have in size, it more than makes up for in forces & general fun. I personally believe that customer experience influences season pass sales more than anything. While there will an increase in pass sales for the opening year for any coaster, if park fans get pi$$ed due to long concession lines or crappy customer service you not only lost a season pass sale, but negative press spreads like wildfire- the sale will be a one year thing. So is it fair to say that season pass sales will decrease because of: A) Not a huge coaster to spike sales. Customer service has been lagging this season due to long lines for concessions. -

I find it hard to believe that a traditional small wooden coaster would sell lots of season passes. -

They will notice the difference in the ride experience. -

And that is why I'm suspicious of this construction. There is just something odd and mysterious about it all. I'm not convinced about anything so far. Can't they practically build it in the factory? All the cuts, all the pilot holes. Put some footers in, let them dry, then bolt the thing up? So your saying its a intamin plug and play? -

Welcome to the New Millennium of post count! (Get it cause you like stuff around the Y2K era.... ) I personally am still saying GCI though news of Ghostriders renovation and how they were actually looking at RMC before GCI has put RMC on my radar. Is it fair to say that replacing boards on a wooden coaster will have a cheaper bid than RMC doing this iron horse track stuff? -

Who's to say rocky Mountain declined to change some boards on that ghoster coaster @ knotts berry farm. I think more money would be in projects where you completely renovate a ride or build one from scratch? -

I would not call The Racer legendary. Sure it started the building of coasters again, but other than that and the racing element there is really nothing very special about it. Maybe she meant Woodstock Express and Beast Sorry, three legendary wood coasters. -

I'm not saying GCI is bad. The only GCI I have ridden is Thunderhead and it's a great coaster. But let's be honest RMC is the hot coaster company right now and most non enthusiasts aren't gonna be all that excited by a GCI woodie. I personally would be happy with a GCI Most non-enthusiasts won't care who makes it as long as its a good ride. I feel that most non enthusiasts given the choice between a traditional wood coaster and a ride with flips and butter smooth, would choose the latter. -

Kings Island already has two legendary wood coasters. Time to look towards the future of coasters. -

I guess that ride @ magic mountain has more ridership than one side of that twisty ride by rocky mountain? -

Your welcome to your opinion. I feel by looking at cost that these gci coasters are good for smaller parks. Parks that generate 3 million people per year are better off to spend more and get an out of this world coaster. -

If kk gets 500,000 visitors that is visitors KI is not getting. Shareholders won't like that to much. -

GCI aren't that bad on capacity around anywhere from 850 to 1,750 an hour 24 ppl a train so not a B&M but not bad overall What GCI is getting anywhere close to 1700 that isn't a racing coaster? 850 -1750 is a pretty wide gap. -

I am not an engineer, but it takes longer to redo a ride and replace with steel then it takes to change some wood boards IMO. -

Well Gavin Penn said it's an rmc and he's been right all along. Looks to me like Cedar Point puts these gci rides at smaller parks. Looks like they are going to do rmc's at their larger parks. -

I watched some point of views tonight including storm chaser & outlaw run. I looked at the golden tickets and only one GCI coaster was in the top 5 which is thunderbird @ dollywood. I have ridden it and can't believe the hype it gets. It looks like this CCI company makes better wood coasters than GCI. I don't get why people are wanting a GCI. I am glad we are getting a ride similar to storm chaser.
