  1. So because I'm speaking up for a park that I grew up with and had fond memories of the people that were apart of making it a success, my friends, you assume that I work there... You all have been nothing but doubtful and pessimistic about every little detail going on with the park. I have faith that these people will successfully open the park and keep it running for many years to come. If you don't feel the same way, then so be it, I really could care less anymore. None of these posts even matter, it's just pointless drama. I'm done with this thread, just carry on bashing me...
  2. ...and if and when the park fails, as it is likely to do, and defaults on its loans, as it is likely to do, the bank gets the collateral, which is the land on which Kentucky Kingdom sits, which is currently owned by the Commonwealth of Kentucky and, by extension, the taxpayers. So yes, if/when the park fails, the taxpayers lose. Big. You obviously have some sort of hatred for the park that fuels your biased comments. If Holiday world had taken over Kentucky Kingdom there's no way it would have succeeded. Holiday World has no interest other than Holiday World, they wouldn't have spent enough money on another park to make it work. The state fair is already a money pit for the state, it's the same rehashed event over and over.
  3. Imagine getting to the top and being told you can't ride...or having to use the bathroom!
  4. To expand on what shark6495 said there, you (sccard01) need to understand that wanting KK to succeed and believing that they will succeed are two completely different things. I want KK to succeed. Most of us probably do. But just because we want the park to succeed does not mean that they will. We're being realists here. We want them to succeed, but the evidence says otherwise. Realistically, the severe undercapitalization of future years, lack of marketing, and other factors suggest, when not viewed through rose-colored glasses, that KK is likely to fail after a few years unless drastic changes occur. Being an optimist is great, but even optimism needs to be grounded in realism. Well put jcgoble3. Everyone wants KK to succeed but not at the risk of taxpayers. If private companies (with all their data and spreadsheets that we don't have access to) don't believe KK to be a viable location for a theme park then why should we? I don't really understand the comments regarding tax payers. The park was in the works to be demolished and turned into a parking lot that I, as a taxpayer, would have to pay a tremendous amount for them to make this happen. The park will generate, not only jobs for the people of Louisville, hopefully including me, while a parking lot would not, but it will also help boost the economy of businesses surrounding the park- hotels, restaurants, other area attractions, etc. Do any of you even live close enough to be taxpayers that would be affected by the park? Either way the tax payers are affected, but at least when the park opens we receive something in return.
  5. It's not even fair to state that this is a "Fan-Site", this is nothing more than a "Fanboy-Site". Where do you keep getting this information that the tax payers are at risk, you claim this, but you don't have the proof to back it up? Furthermore, this is my opinion, I never said you had to think this way, I'm just stating an opinion that calls it as it is. You don't expect a child athlete to take on a major league athlete, so why pick on a park that's rising from the ashes and comparing it to a company that's been well established. Kentucky Kingdom in no way needs to compete with Kings Island, Holiday World, or any theme park for that matter, they just need to follow their own path.
  6. KI: Is open and has been operating for quite some time and is receiving tons of money through admission sales, concession, etc. KK: Is just beginning to open up again... I don't understand why we are comparing parks? Especially a park that is not even operating yet. If you're going to compare parks at all, compare a park that is trying to start up from scratch after being left in the dust, but you can't because no park at this time has even made it to this stage after being shut down for so long. This is HISTORY in the making people! You act like as soon as the announcement was made of the park's reopening that they would be in full swing and kicking at full capacity. Let them get their footing before you start comparing Kentucky Kingdom with the big dogs...
  7. I find it frustrating that Disney would even try to incorporate Avatar into one of its parks. The movie's visuals were great, but the whole story isn't exactly family friendly, its not like your going to go home and watch the movies with your kids after visiting. With Cars, you're already familiar with the story and the characters and that makes Cars land all the more exciting, but most kids won't really know much about Avatar.
  8. The false information that people spread just to start drama is quite annoying at times...
  9. Was King Cobra the stand-up coaster? I remember seeing that on a Kings Island T.V. special once and was disappointed it wasn't there during my first visit, looked fun.
  10. What's going to happen when the park opens and thrives beyond "your" expectations, are you just going to find some other park to bash? Or will you just comment about how none of the flowers grow the way you'd like them to, or how the temperature of the water in the fountains are not to your liking. Nothing good will ever come from those who can't let others grow.
  11. Exactly! It's going to be a wonderful run for the Kingdom!
  12. Can you explain this a little more? The way I am reading this is you suggest that Louisville has no major tourist spots, but is still one of the top 20 travel destinations in the world? Do you mean because of the horse race? I was just referring to this article posted the other day by the Courier Journal. http://www.courier-journal.com/article/20131213/NEWS01/312130099/National-Geographic-Traveler-names-Louisville-Best-World-destination I don't think it's because of the horse races because those aren't year round.
  13. How does 2015 and 2016 look to be downward? Unlike Hard Rock Park, Kentucky Kingdom has already set in stone improvements to the park that will be made. Both T2 and Twisted Twins will be returning better than ever. Hard Rock Park opened, but never showed signs of progressing, they were just trying to get by with what they had.
  14. Ok, well I can understand that, but you have to understand the two situations are very different. Hard Rock Park's location was not very fit for an Amusement park, the tourist build up within that area was already quite high, plus with the beach being so close there wasn't really a huge desire for people to even want to go to an amusement park. Kentucky Kingdom on the other hand has a much better set up. It's not within direct vicinity of major tourists spots, but there is enough draw that will keep the city's local attractions attendance up, without creating a bitter rivalry among each other, which is what Hard Rock Park had to deal with. Plus with Louisville being named 1 out of the world's top 20 travel destinations, I feel that Kentucky Kingdom has a much better chance of success. Buuuuut, that's just a simple Igor's opinion...The fact that the park has made it back from where it was just a year ago, to me, is quite incredible itself!
  15. Haha for coaster enthusiasts you guys seem so cranky! Just relax and let them worry about their issues, just sit back and enjoy the ride! I'm sure they know what they're doing.
