If your kid is under 48-inches they get measured and a wristband. Why can't we do this with people who are clearly not within the bounds of riding a Drop Tower? Instead of thinking up ways to zip-tie them to a ride they shouldn't be on.

If the kids are innocent---and a one-year-ban suggests to me the park doesn't have much of anything specific on them---then that really stinks for the kids. I'm sure the park's decision is final though and must be respected. Sometimes things go this way, and that's really hard to explain to your children. The park has cameras all over the place, but sometimes things break, and you can't get footage when and where you need it.

Interesting they are scheduled to be open on Easter Sunday April 17 (12-7pm) as many businesses like Target and Costco are closed on Easter (so park could be packed depending upon the weather or could be very empty).
They were open Easter Sunday 4/16/2017, and our family went that day. It was not very busy at all.

Fast Lane is a thing during Winterfest? Just double-checking. I thought that was a "no" in prior years, but they made sure to put the logo on the rides that apply.
Edit: Guessing probably not. False advertising. Pretty sure the Fast Lane Season Pass specifically stated "not valid for Winterfest".

I'm thinking guest safety must remain priority #1 vs. hurt feelings. Many of us have seen someone not fit on a ride after standing in line. I'm thinking better to address that before standing in a long line than after, but we are in the TikTok era so I know nothing.

I have never understood the mystic of riding it backwards...for me, after a couple of times it was "been there done that"...I preferred looking down the hills.
I get it, but it was still semi-popular especially for non-passholders. None of my kids have ridden it backwards, but I have. Maybe they need to offer it periodically. I bet it would bring a lot of riders when they do.

What was the child's guardians doing?
What 6-year-old doesn't like a 110-foot free-fall into a dark cave? Said no responsible parent ever. YES, I realize the ride was not operated properly, and this should not have happened. However...

Has no one called out the fact that the Winterfest parade floats are now parked in the storage tent? Christmas parade anyone????
I saw all that yesterday while riding Adventure Express. I couldn't tell for sure if they were parade floats or just decorations setup on wheels ready to roll out into the park---didn't get a long enough look---but you most certainly might be right.

Given the history of that word I am really surprised it is used for a coaster name.
Few know history well enough to catch that reference. What's really shocking is that the Italian coaster company went with that name clear back in the 1960's. Ouch.

Perhaps we should all just stay in our lane, be respectful, and don't spread this kind of keyboard fear?
"Stay in your lane. After I get done telling YOU which lane to be in." (mask up and stay home, please!)
Swing and a miss there.

It took 8 whole days for the media to find out a) her name, and b) she got hit in the head and is fighting for her life. Was that really worth them bending the park over a barrel for not releasing information? Maybe give the family a few days---dare a week---to collect themselves?

And the theme parks have their eyes and ears covered like nothing is wrong. I believe that Cedar Fair, six flags, and sea world will be bankrupt within a year because of the continued upward trend of this virus And they probably deserve it since they are taking no responsibility to protect their employees and customers now
Yes, the same parks that people are moaning and groaning about them being too busy, will be bankrupt within a year. Because Covid. Right.

If she has a traumatic brain injury---and I'm only guessing she does---they probably put her in a coma immediately at the hospital and began all attempts to reduce brain swelling. She probably is alive. Alive and well? That's another matter.

It doesn't seem right that Cedar Point would release her name. That's surely up to the police or somebody else. Did they check her ID before they put her on the gurney or something? Same for her medical condition...that's not for the park to say, but rather her doctors/hospital. And with the investigation into the accident underway, I doubt they're going to give much info on that until the investigation is complete.

Keep in mind that they are selling passes to Kings Island for $109. That is by comparable to recent years, but still more expensive then ten years ago. I remember when they were $79.99 a person!
And after seeing the Fast Lane sales line upon entering the park this past Saturday, I think the more people the better for their bottom line. They must have made $10k-$20k on Fast Lane alone in one day.

McDonalds. Maybe like 2-4 of them spread around the park so they can keep the lines down. We actually like Subway, but the location is never open on time, and soon as it does open the line is like an hour. These days I go to Jimmy Johns the day before we plan to go to the park and buy a couple loaves of their bread. Make subs at home, pack 'em in the car. Saves about $40, and keeps us out of the restroom later in the day.

Hopefully there is a database that multiple states can tap into, and see what happens when there are incidents. We could throw various rides under the bus, but my feeling is that if it can happen on one ride at one park, it could happen on another ride, at OUR park. Scary, but anything mechanical can and will break if left to itself. Every piece of a ride could cause an incident, and must be evaluated.

I never understood how a ride's popularity trumps the fact that it hurt someone. People will naturally be drawn away from it unless changes are made.
Is there an NTSB for roller-coaster issues? I imagine it playing out something like an airline crash investigation. Once you find out what went wrong, you fix it. Hoards of people will get back on and fly again another day. As much as the bottom-line can handle the down-time, that is.

The uptick in symptomatic/serious cases with Delta in children is the most difficult part of the current situation, IMO. With basically 100% of kids under 12 unvaccinated, it makes me very concerned about the fall/winter, in addition to where we are already at.
The good news is that only 354 kids 0-17 have actually died from Covid in 2020-2021. Out of the 2,542,612 deaths in the US thus far (per the Johns Hopkins website), 2,542,258 of them were 18 or older. Fingers crossed.

A year ago this story would be a big deal; now it is just background noise, but I guess this "counts" as being connected to an amusement park...I doubt Cedar Point will see a reduction in attendance as a result of this announcement by the Erie County Health Department.
Headline trying really hard to make it sound like Cedar Point is a hotspot/cause of transmission, when in fact 4 employees tested positive, for whatever random reasons that aren't detailed. *Shrugs*

So the park is going to drop turkey legs in your kid’s your bag?
That's the treat, I guess. The trick must be a really bad haircut. Be careful in the park this fall. Just sayin'.

A boat-load of studies over decades have proven people spend more with a card, and less when handing over physical cash. Huge win for the park. This is not being done for our convenience...

^Care to back that up with proof?
I don't approve of YuYuYuuki's choice of words, but there have been shootings in 3 Six Flags parks in Texas in 2021 alone, one in Georgia, and a 20-person melee up at Chicago's Six Flags. It's been a rough year for expecting proper behavior in social places, but Six Flags seems to be especially bad at dealing with it or attracting the type of crowd that doesn't do this type of thing. Kings Island has not been immune to guest behavior problems as has been covered elsewhere. However.
I think it is probably fair to assume the rest of their park operations are not quite on par with better parks same as we see with their security.

Not apples to apples by any means, but there's been a lot of chatter recently about thinning crowds at Disney parks this Summer, too. According to some articles this has even been acknowledged in their shareholder updates, and they expect the trend to continue the rest of 2023, at least.
