  1. I don't think it should be overhauled, but it has needed some TLC. In the documentary I watched last night, they talked about ginko trees being planted in that section. Are they still there and just aren't trimmed? Even something small like that could be a little nod to nostalgia.

  2. Last night, I watched a documentary about Kings Island on Youtube and they talked a lot about the creation of International Street. They mentioned that the shops were originally themed to different countries.

I rarely go and explore the different stores anymore, other than the occasional visit to the 80's shop. I don't remember any internationally themed stores, so I was curious of what were some of the shops originally on International Street. When did International Street start changing?

Sorry if there's already a topic for this.

How interesting would it be to have the ride closed this summer and debut a new Peanuts Holidays dark ride at Halloween / Christmastime?

I would like that and dislike  that at the same time. I generally hop on Boo Blasters when I need to rest my feet and cool down, so I would miss that in the summer.

I honestly think they'd only get rid of a ride if something was immediately going to replace it within the next year or so. I don't know what they would fit in the Congo falls space

I wonder if they added a little more theming to Congo Falls if that would attract more people to it. I always skip Congo Falls truthfully, but I might not if there was a little more to look at.

  5. I don't see The Racer moving for awhile not only for nostalgic reasons-- but for merchandising and advertisement. The Brady Bunch riding that coaster is still talked about too much, you know? Last time I rode it, I thought it was great except for needing a fresh coat of paint in the tunnel waiting to return to the station. Lots of hand prints and maybe a large vomit spot! I wouldn't want to see it get an RMC conversion either, but that's just me personally.

If I had to make a prediction for a coaster, I'd pick The Vortex. The past few times I've been to the park--Vortex was down for hours and even when it was reopened, the line wasn't long. It sounded rough when it was running, and the paint was fading quickly. My biggest pick for a ride leaving would be Boo Blasters. I hope it would just be replaced with another dark ride, hopefully with a Peanuts theme.

I'm not srue they really added anything to it though. The ride took you through the different season with Smurfs and think the bit near the end always had that Crhismtas scene in it, so not really anything spceial for Winterfest.

Interesting!! I never go to ride the Smurfs ride, but that was the main video that popped up when I searched.

  7. For years I was so afraid on coasters that I wouldn't put my hands up, so once I started getting over my fears--I put my hands up and have loved it.. Although, I can never keep them up during the second helix of The Beast. Not only am I afraid of hitting the tunnel, but the force in the section is so intense makes my neck hurt worse if my hands are up.

  8. I found a video of the Smurfs ride during Winterfest on Youtube back in 1988 (because I wasn't sure how holiday theming had been incorporated into the dark rides in the past for Winterfest)--and liked that a lot of the holiday stuff was right at the end (as far as I could tell). That'd be kind of cool for Boo Blasters. There's a few dark and fairly empty spots towards the end of Boo Blasters.

  9. I'm excited that Adventure Express has been fixed up! I loved that ride, not for the thrills but the actual theming. I think Kings Island is really lacking theming that's consistently updated. I'd love to see Backlot Stunt Coaster get a facelift.

My main gripe has been stated already--but I think all of the empty buildings, sheds (and last year, I even saw a werewolf over near The Bat) for Haunt are extremely tacky and make me feel like the park wasn't touched in the offseason.

  10. Ok, back to the topic, kinda.

Earlier I posted what I could see with my eyes was going on in the woods, whatever it means.

But now, once again as Dumbledore said "From this point forth, we shall be leaving the firm foundation of fact and journeying together through the murky marshes of memory into thickets of wildest guesswork." I'm going to delve into the more tenuous things, what may possibly be clues left for us, or may simply be coincidence.

When I rode Diamondback at the end of ERT, I looked to the right as we sat on the brake run, and saw something. There was a small row boat beside the fence. It was named Tin Man. There seemed to be some landscaping materials inside, as though it had been used as one might use a wheelbarrow. I took a picture from the DB line later in the day:

(An even shorter summary of info from the Wikipedia page on the Tin Man: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tin_Woodman) The full name of the Tin Man in L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz was the Tin Woodman. He was once a man named Nick Chopper, whose job was chopping trees. The Wicked Witch of the East bewitched his ax and it started cutting off his limbs, which he had replaced, until he was fully tin.

I just find it particularly interesting to find something somewhat hidden in the park that combines the two things going on over in Rivertown: falling trees and water.

It probably is complete coincidence. But maybe....

I think it is a coincidence. For some reason, I highly doubt KI would do a Wizard of Oz themed attraction with KK having that lame-o movie still.

I also am not completely convinced if falling trees have anything to do with what's going in... Mainly because Dollywood has had a few lumber-themed rides over the past decade.

    Oh! I didn't know! Hopefully it's better!

So maybe Oz is a possibility!

  12. I highly doubt they'll do anything with The Racer for a long time. They'd lose a trivia question on FunTV if they did remove it.

...which would be a tragedy beyond comprehending.

    A trivia question on FunTV?

    Really?

    Sigh.

One of the first things Cedar Fair did at Kings Island was take out Paramount Parks quene TV system...

    Few cared.

FunTV is supposed to be about sponsors and money. And SIX envy.

The trivia questions are an afterthought. And show it.

Not do anything with Racer for a long time?

    You mean like paint it?

Not doing anything with it seems to have been the park strategy for quite some time. Many things lead to that conclusion.

See Thunder Road. Or Rolling Thunder. Or Twisted Twins/Twisted Sisters.

When coasters aren't painted or maintained well for a long time, bad things can happen. And do.

I was being sarcastic. I was also doubting that they would remove The Racer.

I would hope that they would give it a fresh coat of paint soon. Especially the tunnels that the trains wait in before going back into the station.

  13. I really hate to see empty buildings around Kings Island during the regular season, so I'd love to see something go into the old Crypt building. Personally, I liked the idea of an old mine coaster-- but I also agree with not wanting it to be total 3D technology and screens like many other parks have. To me, that's missing an extra spark that makes a dark ride special.

But before another dark ride is brought in, I REALLY think that something needs to be done with Boo Blasters. I feel like Kings Island has focused on bringing new attractions to the park instead of just doing upkeep on their already existing rides. While I'm not a Peanuts fan, I wouldn't mind seeing Boo Blasters get updated to a Halloween themed dark ride. With the simplicity of the Peanuts cartoons, I think that it wouldn't be too hard to upkeep.
