DirtySteve
I just heard on the news that a couple from Georgetown, KY said they were injured after riding Slingshot. They were complaining of back pains after the ride, and were taken to a local hospital. For now, Slingshot has been shut down.
Delishot
Hmm... Too bad i was sent today, or i could say for sure... All i know is that it was shut down around 5 yesterday for technical difficulties (not anything due to damage of the ride itself, etc.) Anyway.... They may have had pre-existing back problems before riding, and that may have worsened it... There are many things that could have caused this. But anyway... There's my Employee one-sided opinion, lol. Feel free to disagree
BoddaH1994
I have ridden it many times, and I have never felt strain on my back. It kind of makes me wonder if we have a welfare qeen on our hands.. I mean, what are the chances that BOTH would get hurt?

I mean, what are the chances that BOTH would get hurt? Yes, as have I, and it has never hurt my back in any way. I thought the same thing as you... Many larger riders have ridden it without any problems at all, and its probably more rough on them than on smaller people. *if that made sense*
flightoffear1996
First of I would like to say they could be faking just trying to get some money out of the park or they should have read the signs before they rode.
RCTfreak
Well considering the previous "ride injurys" in the past month or so through out the park, the most recent being by someone who was riding Cedar Point's version of what KI calls the antique cars when he was bumped from behind by another car, and hurt his back. Now just me but those cars if you hurt your back it has to take some skill unless you have a pre existing back injury. Thats what i am thinking here, for 2 people to both get back injurys are rare, even more rare on a ride that has been there for 2-3 years now and nothing previous has happened untill now. Has it been anounced if they will try to sue the park, which seems to be a high thing to do in amusement parks now a days. -rctfreak-
pkidude03
I think the slingshot incident sounds crazy. I mean.. the ride guidelines are posted right at the gate and in the map. It's rated a 4 and says if you had recent neck, BACK (hint hint to those "injured"), or bone problems then you should refrain from riding. Appearantly those folks didn't follow the rules. I think the park has the bases covered on this one...
BoddaH1994
It's called the "Fun and Safety Guide", people. I went to the park today with my boss and his kid sufferes from CP. The Fun and Safety Guide at each ride was extremely helpful in indicating whether or not a ride would be recommended for a patron of special needs or not. On a side note, if you are ever in a situation in which you are with a person who is handicapped, you can go to GR and get a pamphlet and it will tell you very specific regulations as to what the individual will need to be able to do in order to ride. For most of the rides, you simply need upper body control, though. Ryan
