KIfan73
I collect KI postcards. Most of them are views of the park that most people have seen, or can find here on the site. I came across a couple I wanted to share that I thought offered a couple, lesser seen views of KI in the early '70s. Enjoy!
PKIVortex
Sweet, I like the first one, it's really kinda cool seeing how Racer really stuck out in that pic. Of course they were no Vortex, FoF, or The Beast back then. But that's a really a nice pic of Racer.
The Interpreter
And you can see Bavarian Beetle quite well, too! Thanks for the memories...

KIfan73
I was hoping to hear from anybody that recognizes stuff in the photos. I went around that time, but I was 2 years old, so I don't remember anything...lol

King Maple The Tree King
^What!? I think you mean... "I like the second one. They should've kept the street effect by the shops and food places." And even that still doesn't make much more sense.

The Interpreter
Why do I have visions of someone spraying Raid up another's trousers??? Ick.
markr
I was 11 when the park opened in 1972. I recognize the old bavarian beetle ( the orange coaster in the lower left of the first picture, how I loved that ride, why oh why did they tear it down?), the canoes where the station for Beast is now ( where Jan lost Mike's blue prints on the Brady Bunch,) the old slide, and Haley's comet ( the round up type spinning ride which was by the slide.) and I see the building for the old Enchanted Voyage where Scooby's Haunted Castle is now. Pardon my babbling but what memories that brings back.
TOPGUN1993
This is probably the wrong topic, but do you have any idea on how old these pieces of KI Merchandise I bought today are?
The Interpreter
I am virtually certain the four items at the bottom were offered in the 1972 season. For how long after that they continued to sell them, I don't know. Are they MADE IN USA? Most stuff back then was, or it was from that place where cheap goods came from in the olden days, JAPAN. Yes, Japan. My, how things have changed. The 25th anniversary cup dates to 1997 (duh!) And The Beast souvenir cup is from Paramount days... TOPGUN1993
The plate and salt & pepper shakers say "Japan" on them
The Interpreter
Then they are probably genuine and not reproductions. I haven't yet seen reproductions of old Kings Island items, but it wouldn't surprise me much.

KIfan73
I wish the park would offer some really unique souvenirs now. Some of the new shirts are actually pretty nice, but thats about it. And whats up with there being no postcards anymore?
Dvo
I wish KI still had King Cobra tees and sold them for less. I'd buy a lot of them.
