The Interpreter Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 This article is from a year ago. Now that time has passed, what say ye? http://contrarianedge.com/2006/08/13/divid...-the-ride-down/ Quote
Gordon Bombay Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Where is this good, seasoned management team the author speaks of? Quote
italianchef Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 I recall reading that PP could be bought for as little as $900 million. Hence, I thought that CF was over-charged. Did they get stuck with an inflated price because of a bidding war? Quote
tubaman Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Do you know who else was bidding, if I may ask, chef? Quote
Cody Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Paramount scammed them, like omg. >_> lol, ok soo whats their plans for the future! Quote
italianchef Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 I THINK that I read on this website that Blackstone was amongst the bidders. But I STILL think that CF paid TOO much. Quote
KIBeast Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 I don't think that they really over-paid for Paramount Parks. They must honestly believe that their plan will work. I'm sure that they weighed the good with the bad and felt the risk is really low compared to the reward. Quote
Dvo Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 ^well of course they thought that their plan would work. Otherwise they wouldn't have done it. Executive A: "So what is our plan for the future?" Executive B: "Buy Paramount Parks!" (He snickers and giggles to himself) Executive A: "Interesting... will it work?" Executive B: "No, I was totally kidding. But let's do it anyway just for fun." Executive A: "ok!" Quote
KIBeast Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 OK, maybe I over-simplified. I'm sure that they looked into every detail of obtaining the parks and felt that there was more chance of success than failure. There's a lot of other things they considered. Executive A: Let's buy Paramount Parks! Executive B: No way, we could buy the whole SF chain for that! Quote
