WooferBearATL
If I make a hamburger that is 70% lean, and another hamburger that's 90% lean, they are both still hamburgers, right? It depends. Where are these hamburgers coming from? I tell ya, Ruby Tuesday's makes some yummy mini burgers!
Dvo
^lol. I think you missed the point. Gemini is a Steel coaster with a wooden structure. Nonetheless it is definitely a steel coaster, and I don't know of any educated coaster fan who would say otherwise. Seems to me that kind of logic should go both ways... Voyage is a woodie. welchce
Exactly. There are two main types of coasters: wood and steel. It doesn't matter if the supports are made of wood, steel, plastic, or Styrofoam it only matters what the train wheels touch. The Voyage and Cyclone might have steel supports and The Beast and Racer might be have wood supports but they are all wooden coasters because that is the type of track that they ride on. Dvo
Don't get me wrong, I'm with you all the way. But wooden coaster wheels still ride on steel plates.

So if I put cheese wiz on the track it will be a cheese coaster
Dvo
Seems like a waste of cheese to me... but sure?
welchce
So if I put cheese wiz on the track it will be a cheese coaster Well the track would have to be made of cheese. That sounds like a bold strategy DeLorean Rider, let's see if it pays off.
Dvo
^now that's definitely a waste of cheese.
coaster_junky
If you don't like SOB keep it to your self, some people find SOB as a great ride. Well if you want to take that avenue, and since most of the population of the planet Earth dislikes SoB... If you like SoB keep it to yourself, most people find SoB as a terrible ride. Have you not rode it since it was re-done? because it is alot better then it was!!!(In smoothness that is)
Browntggrr
^ Yes. And unfortunately even though it is better in a few seats, the overall experiance is still jarring. Now the SoB lovers out there will just dismiss the ride it gives because it is a "wooden coaster". There are many other great wooden coasters that do not rattle your body as violent as SoB. And even though Beast does give rough rides, it really only became rough perhaps the last 5-7 years. The ride is also 28 years old; and still not as rough as SoB. And it is really too bad. Both companies spent a great deal of money on a rather mediocre ride at best. The money spent on SoB really should have promoted the park to a new extreme, but it has only been a dark cloud since day one.
Cormaster
The Beast and the Son of Beast are both very 2 different rides. I don't have any complaints however about the name of Son of Beast. It makes sense really. Sell your new record breaking wooden coaster by naming it after your old record breaking wooden coaster. Yeah The Beast is long, fast, and has a short tunnel, and 2 long tunnels. The Son of Beast is more like Son of Meanstreak in its design, as its kind of a big wooden dome where cars go up and down hills and through tight twists at fast speeds. I know a lot of people have complained about how the Son of Beast has no tunnels, but I like it the way it is. Both The Beast and the Son of Beast are unique and it gives you a reason to ride both. Dvo
The only reason to ride SOB is if you have a lust for punishment.
Cormaster
I love the Son of Beast. The ride is rough, but you can't beat those drops. That 200ft. drop is nuts. Its almost like a Magnum XL 200 made out of wood. Its ashame they had to remove the loop, but honestly it didn't tame it down much at all IMO. Rode it 5 times and loved it every single time at the park.
Browntggrr
The name SoB makes zero sense. That is like saying Brady Quinn should be called Joe Montana Jr. The similarities being both QB's went to Notre Dame, the differences being Quinn has not played a regular season NFL game let alone even sniffed a Super Bowl. The same could be said or the fiasco known as Beast and SoB. SoB is made of wood, so is Beast. That is the only similarity. People were expecting a ride to put the roller coaster industry on it's ear figuratively not literally. Beast put KI on the map for all the right reasons, whereas SoB caused attention to the park for all the wrong reasons. A good arguement could also be made for the amount of tunnels on Beast. I have always considered it to be 4 only because you come out of a tunnel on the helix and enter another tunnel. How can you leave a tunnel and re-enter the same tunnel yet still move foward? In addition, that part of the ride is considered a double helix. So wouldn't it be considered a double tunnel as well? Perhaps it's just me... I understand what your saying but thats not exactly what Kings Island had intended either having the coaster built. They intended for it to put the park on the map again, and give it positive attention. I'm sure they never dreamed it would be such a problematic coaster! But yeah the Son of Beast name obviously comes from the wood construction, and just like its father, they intended it to be a record breaker in many categories.
